I thought I might want more kids, but my fear is having another kid by an unworthy chick.

Yeah I had one done 15 yrs ago after my last two were born. Not sure about insurance as I just paid out of pocket for it. It wasn't painful, just your balls feel heavy for a week or so after. You do have to wait three months before all the sperm clears out of your load and you need to go back and submit a sample so they can check that all of the sperm is indeed gone. Glad I did it, no regrets.

That's great but there is a possibility of losing libido. I know that because one of my friends did this and that happened to him. So, as far as I am concerned, I would never do that. Now, that 71 yo guy mentioned earlier is another reason not to. Sounds like he got it right.

Well anecdotes aside (everyone has a friend whose an exception to the rule) vasectomies rarely affect libido and didn't affect mine. Just like dudes who avoid TRT because it's unnatural and dangerous.

And no, having kids at 71 ain't doing it right, it's doing it stupid.

The purpose of money isn't for buying shit, it is for buying your way out of shit.

Fully agree that it is the exception, it is just an exception that is sufficient for some people, myself included, to not ever consider the operation. Again, congrats on your successful outcome.

As to stupidity, I am not sure it is smart to make judgments like that without really knowing what you are talking about. For instance, I will not call doing TRT stupid, even though I am not into it myself, because I was never interested in the subject and I know nothing about it. Whatever age you are, I am 99.9% sure that you don't yet know what being 71 is all about, so I will not take advice on that matter from you, thank you very much.

Hey man if you want to change diapers, get up at 2am to do feedings, listen to all that crying and chase after little children who can crawl faster than you can walk at that age, knock yourself out. I'm sure you'll handle it just fine. When they're 10, I'm sure you'll be a hit on the ice when your 81 year old self is coaching their little league hockey team. Not to mention you'll barely be 89 when you attend their high school graduation. Yup, I'd say that's doing it right.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Greetings, I'm 42 and on a year long trek through EE. Never even thought about my age. Shit, look at Jason Statham a fellow baldy, but 50 yrs old and crushing it. Anyway, you couldn't pay me to go back to 20's or 30's. Now is the best era. Sold the house, car and possessions and so many problems melted away. Getting back to that good life, which got shelved for years of money chasing, abject boredom and scraggly hoes. There is a malaise hanging over most US towns and quality of life has dropped to abysmal levels. The US is only good for money and the countryside as far as I'm concerned.

I sometimes miss a chick-fila chicken-egg-and-cheese biscuit or the great herb in Denver.

Getting back into shape now with some resistance band workouts every morning. Stretching and watching my posture, etc. For the last year, I step out the door every day walking through ancient cultures with ample amounts of submissive, feminine and gorgeous women. This beats the US by orders of magnitude and have had more fun than the last 17yrs combined. Never going back if I can help it.

I can recommend the Chaga Mushroom/Ginseng coffee as a supplement and cold showers to increase health. Do all the things!

Didn't change too many diapers until now and no way is it going to happen in the future, regardless. The standard American model where the husband shares everything with the wife does not apply universally. But it's not about my own plans, I actually don't plan anything like that now, it's about keeping the option!

What are naturally occurring "veg" foods that have these in them? PS: Not a big fan of artificials

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Curcumin, which is found in the spice tumeric, also reduces joint pain and inflammation generally. Its the deep yellow spice used in Indian cooking. While its all natural, it has a strong flavor and difficult to get enough daily. Also, its most effective when taken with pepper, and many supplements offer it this way. I take it daily as a supplement and have drastically reduced my use of aspirin and other pain meds for general aches and pains for example lower back, etc.

I had mine done in 2008.

Insurance covered 100% of having it done in the doc's office, awake the whole time, just a local anesthetic. If I'd wanted to go under the gas and get knocked out for it, I would have had to cover the difference.

Like Doc says, it wasn't terribly painful, just uncomfortable for a bit.

If you get it done, do it on a Friday, so you have the weekend to take it easy (versus running around at work). Get all your yard stuff and chores done during the week leading up to the day of surgery.

Like Doc, I have no regrets either. Yeah, it was no fun the first few days, but I'm glad I had it done.

Side note: When I had it done, I was married, and we decided that three kids was enough.. now that I'm divorced, I've found that my having had a vasectomy has been a huge turn-on for a lot of women.

I don't lead with "I'VE HAD A VASECTOMY", but if there's an opportunity to work it into the conversation organically, I will. Usually something along the lines of my deciding that three kids was enough, which leads to them asking what I mean by that..

Interesting... I always figured that girls would be turned off by a guy with a vasectomy because if she ever wants kids it means you won't have a future together. However, it sounds more like it immediately precludes you from being "beta bucks" right off the bat which is probably better in the short and long run.
