Are you from there?

Edit: Actually I'm going to Maryland either way.

So I've got the other three in mind.

RE: Need Help Finding a 2nd Tier US CITY
I live in Portland (at least during the summer, since I'm in college) and I've got to second (or third?) it. Definitely wouldn't want to live there year round, or move there just for the girls, but it is a fun little town. Like others said, the BEST food scene I have ever lived in. A fair amount of bars as well, and a pretty busy bar scene (as a young person living in Portland, what else are you gonna do at night?). Actually, as an aside, if you do live in Portland for a little bit, I would say hit up the Crossfit Gyms there. I just lift normally at a different gym, but I can't deny that a lot of the young hot girls in Portland do Crossfit/yoga, like 5 times a week. In terms of where to stay, definitely in the Old Port.

My favorite time of year is the summer because the weather is fantastic, lots of outdoor activities (sailing/kayaking/hiking/mountain biking), and cruise ships are constantly coming in and out - lotta tourist girls walking around the Old Port, looking for a guy to hang out with.

Flights from DTW to Philly are pretty cheap that's another option.

Nashville all the way, fun town, great music, cute southern belles, and cheap bud. Dallas sucks.

Or

Thanks for the help.

The weirdest people I've ever met came from Wi and OR. No idea why, but I suspect the weather has something to do with it. I was in Appleton during a massive blizzard, and a few of my mates did well in a strip club. One was a nudie bar virgin, so I passed my chick over and bought her a couple drinks so he could talk, as it was his birthday as well. She was an outstanding PR hobag, with cat eye glasses and her hair pulled back. Damn. He ended up pounding her for weeks. To add insult to injury, he busted in her, and had to borrow a fifty spot FROM ME!!! to buy the plan B pill. The things I do for you newbs. I never got paid back either.

The girls up there friendly, don't see much 'foreigners', but due to the extreme weirdness of personalities, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Life is too short to purposefully runnoft to a shithole unless there is lots of money in it.

Yeah, don't go up there during 'mud season', cause they're ain't out-of-townie girls and the local ones aren't real receptive, unless they just started working up there.

I still contend that the area is the poosy paradise in whole region.

I've never been but ever since E-mech posted a map of Ohio with an outlined "poon belt", I've been interested in Ohio. They have lots of pro sports teams and the economy sucks so things like rent and entertainment should be cheap, I wonder what it would be like to spend a month in an Ohio city in the summer?

Miami (OH) seems like it could be a gem. Big time college town too.

Miami is in Oxford. The college basically is the town, but Dayton and Cincinnati are an hour away.

It's a nice visit because it is one of the most beautiful campuses you will ever see. Everybody I met who went there loved it. The school has a very good graduation rate--students stay there and graduate.

Hit the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ. Lots of bars and restaraunts. Hoboken too. It has a decent strip of places to go. They both live in the shadow of NYC. Plus if you get bored its a subway ride away to manhattan.

RE: Need Help Finding a 2nd Tier US CITY
I can recommend Milwaukee, Nashville, and Denver, although Denver seems larger than the first two. I was expecting Nashville to be awful the first time I was there, and went there with the preconceived notion that it would suck because of the prevalence of country music. I enjoyed it a lot both times I was there. Nashville has a few different areas that you'll need a cab to get from one to the next, but I enjoyed it. I've spent a good amount of my time in the city downtown near the capitol, near Vanderbilt university, and near the recording houses. I went there for business reasons, so I didn't have a lot of time to dabble in the bar scene, but I liked what I saw. I want to go back soon.

Milwaukee is the same as Nashville with discrete communities that are livable on their own, but will need a car to get from one to the other. Milwaukee is the only great lakes city of its size (read: smaller than Chicago) to have not been completely stupid in how it uses its waterfront. I thought the restaurant and bar scene was good, but try to hit it between May and September to avoid the brutal winter. The city is fine in the winter, but it's just that much better with good winter.

Denver - Everything that I could say about the city has been said on this forum already. Avg. girl walking the street in Denver > avg. girl walking the street in Las Vegas (who actually lives here).

SLC - only been there once for business, not sure how it would be for hooking up. I think the broad perception that it's a very straight-laced and "dry" city is at least greatly overblown. I had no problem finding bustling bars and liquor stores there. Haven't been there recently, though.

Madison, WI - I lived there for three years and would go back to visit. It's a cool place to spend a weekend from May through October. The area around the Capitol building draws a slightly older and more mature crowd. However, it's a small city with only so many options for things to do, and even as a poor student I had ennui when my time to live there expired. There are enjoyable things to do there if you're over 30. There are just a whole lot more enjoyable things if you're 18-26. Be warned, though, people who actually live in Madison can be smug beyond belief, along the lines of that South Park episode where Kyle's parents moved to SF and smelled their own farts. That's not *everyone* - one of the guys I knew there used to be a roadie for White Zombie and Type O Negative, and I keep in touch with a few reasonable, likable people who live there - but you'll have a lot of conversations where you just eject and walk away because you can't take it anymore.

I go nuts in that town if I'm there for more than a couple of days. Other than chase college tail and take the occasional hike at one of the nearby parks, there's jack shit to do unless you drive to one of the bigger cities.
