House Music
I'm very well associated in the house music scene, as a DJ as well as a Producer/Engineer. Other than the states, house music is a huge part of nightlife all around the world - in Europe and Germany especially, but mostly all around.

I'd be hard pressed to find someone that can honestly say he/she doesn't enjoy it.

I just wanted to start a thread where I can share my knowledge and pass along some enjoyment for everyone.

Reason I came up with this thread is because I found a live recorded set from a DJ named Lee Foss: OG from Detroit...He has a unique style and I felt since this forum is very diverse that I would share.

If you like house, funk, jazz, new jack swing, R&B, etc... you will enjoy this.

just hit the download button...

btw, if you don't like this I have much more

Jungle Brothers, thats old school 87 shit, not sure if they relate to house music much but your right, their producer was a house music producer.

Brazilian flavored house is the shit. I'm mainly a deep house head. Great station and online house community right here: http://www.dogglounge.com

For a more loungy deep house vibe, I love DJ Fleep out in Tokyo. http://www.fleep.com.

I am deep house, going back and forth thru genre over the years, deep house has always been the foundation...

Since I visited brasil, I have been trying to incorporate their traditional percussion into my sounds, samba style backbeat...

While technically this song isn't House it's still an awesome dance song anyway.

I don't really enjoy it to be honest. I like types of electronic music, but not house. And I'm not big on electronic music, maybe that's part of why I don't enjoy clubs as much as I used to. Too much electro these days, not enough good hip hop. My favorite type of electronic music, if you could even consider it electronic music, is Trip Hop, and you know they aren't playing that in any clubs.

Solid song.

I really like this mix by Deadmau5: Not Exactly (Ghost In The Shell Remix)

He just dropped a new album two days ago called 4x4=12, I need to listen to it.

RE: House Music
I used to be all about trance a decade ago, and then moved to house. Now I'm too lazy to do the research so I just download all the ministry of sound stuff. I don't like their mixes recently so I haven't been getting into it as much.

Deep house is nice but puts me to sleep. I like the high energy stuff with vocals (yeah yeah it's cheesy). Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSWrepLjTKc

Downloaded that album the other day. It's far from his best work, sounds more like his 'Reward is Cheese' stuff than 'Faxing Berlin' etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8rQfxJF0fk This is one of the better tracks.

There are much better DJs/Producers out there, like Booka Shade, Paul Kalkbrenner etc.

Deep house isn't all sleepy, though some of it can be. A lot of it is really upbeat and soulful and heavy on vocals and instrumentation. This is my fav deep house track ever made(late 90s), Lisa Shaw's Always: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef0fr82RNkw

Good to know there are fellow house heads on the forum.

Wow this Naked Music label stuff is great, although it's not house or "dancey". I could definitely see myself putting this music on when I have a girl over. This is a great thread so far. When does the flame war start?

haha dude, most flame wars within house music either start with Deadmau5 or cd's vs vinyl.....im sure we're all good here...

I hate deadmau5, Justice, Etc. with a passion, but I won't go into detail

From Deadmaus I like best Strobe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUmvPgH5iD0 and Ghost n Stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7ArUgxtlJs

I was like Brandon before, only listening to oldschool hiphop, but I switched to house completely naturally, it seems when I got my shit together I didn't need to hear "i fuck bitches and make money" every day to pump me up. House music is more a celebration of life, than a reference to a constant struggle.

Deadmau5 is really dead in Medellin, Colombia. When he played in Medellin, he said that Colombian house DJs should stick to Latinusic, which was a huge insult. As a result, he barely sold 300 tixx and was never asked to return. I know the promoter personally and he lost a shitload of cash!!
