It sounds from this thread like there's no consensus on nootropics.

For some people it does nothing, for others it makes them more aware and focused.

I started taking Alpha Brain a couple weeks ago. Indeed I have noticed that I feel more focused and able to think long-term. It helps me be more genuine and act like myself, but a more effective version of myself, someone who gets shit done. So far I think it's worth it.

At nearly $1/pill though, it's expensive. I hear you can make your own pills for much cheaper.

Maybe I'll report back in at the end of the bottle in a month or so.

I'm still working on the same bottle. I start taking Alpha Brain about three weeks ago. 1x/morning, 1x/evening a few hours before bed.

The effect seems to be diminishing recently.

There are still many pills to go. It may just be a lack of sleep. I'm waking up at 5:30-6am after sleeping from midnight, and I don't need to fall back to sleep, though I would function better if I did.

Too soon to tell but it's had a positive effect so far, overall.

Update after going through nearly all of a 90-count bottle of Alpha Brain.

At first I felt smarter and more lucid. It was good, not great though.

Then I didn't feel much of a difference.

I stopped using it and haven't noticed a discernable difference, after more than a week.

I feel about as smart as I did before the experiment. Considering the nearly $1/pill price tag, I think that Alpha Brain is not for me. I'm not discounting nootropics, only this particular product. It it were cheaper or stronger, maybe I'd reconsider.

That said, everyone's body works differently. I reckon that if you have the money for a bottle, it may be worth trying. Or, just go for another product. I think Alpha Brain's success is more a product of its marketing than its inherent value in helping us become smarter.

I'm quite fond of Noopept. I take it with L-Theanine to help potentiate. For me, it's very helpful to increase mental sharpness and clarity. For me, there are two caveats 1) I have to be very careful not to oversleep. I hadn't really used an alarm clock for years, but with noopept, I need one. And 2) I have to pay attention to the quality of my thoughts, because I become hyperaware of both positive and negative thoughts and need to focus on positive, or at least productive things.

All this said, it's a worthwhile tool to have in my toolbox. $10-12 worth is going to last me many months, if not an entire year.

Tried SEMAX. 0.1%..15 min later felt adderall like effects minus any kind of negative side effects of adderall. That's the best I can describe it. This stuff is Soviet made and is very popular here in Russia with students. It's like purest adderall or even better!

RE: Nootropics Thread
I've been using aniracetam for 2 months now and I thought I'll add my experience.

It's not illegal nor legal in Australia, it is recognised as having no status. In our nanny state it may not remain that way for too long. I bought 100g in powder form and dose around 700mg.

I was mainly after the increased focus side, and since taking it I've been obviously benefitting from the cognitive enhancement and slightly relaxed mood.

The first time I took it was the most vivid, particularly the first point and the anxiety sensation.

Increased focus, I was able to shift myself, mood wise, a lot easier. Distractions were less effective, and to be honest I felt acute anxiety if I was goofing off, the sort of sensation you get at university when you've left an assignment to the last minute.

Mood enhancement, well I was able to talk more freely to those i wanted to. Client meetings and such, words came more freely, it was only ever so slightly but i could recognise it. it didn't make a difference in regards to deadshits. I still wanted to avoid them, it made no improvements.

Cognitive improvement, hard to say. I have engaged in some more complex tasks recently, the frequency of which was wbnormally high. I can't really control for it as I didn't have a sufficient comparison. I can't dismiss it and I would assume a bias towards yes because of the increased frequency I mentioned, but it wouldn't be honest to assert an outright yes.

The half life is in the range of 2.5-3 hours, and normally that would take me to lunch. i am the sort of guy who powers up to lunch and clears 70%+ of my daily workload by then, so it was good for me that way.

I mad sure not to use any on weekends, or even days I know I got hardly any work as to ensure I would not increase my tolerance.

On the aspect of criticism, it isn't that potent.

The effects are still only acute, if you don't want to change, you won't. Today I took a double dose for the first time, and went for a job interview. Relating to the mood enhancement I found it very comfortable to talk, but again it receded around lunch, so as expected, increased dosage does nothing for longevity.

None at all. The only recognized effects are headaches which is managed by choline.

You can get supplements but are naturally found in eggs. I eat two hard boiled eggs every days for breakfast and found that was enough for me

I tried piracetam and hydergine when I was in I.T. back in the day...memory and focus clearly improved, but was not able to sleep more than five or six hours per night. Some people do OK on that amount of sleep, but I don't so that was that.

The question I ask myself now about any new regime is "Who has been doing this for more than a year with good results?" IMO such things are usually not sustainable, they're something the young bucks try for a while. Better to just stick with the basics: Eat well, sleep sufficiently, get at least three good workouts in every week, go easy on the alcohol.

Anyone want to do a group buy for piracetam?

Piracetam is actually safe to use, it's been out for decades.

RE: Nootropics Thread
Lol piracetam isn't that expensive, I bought a kilogram for £60 and it's lasted ages (4.8g is the optimal dose).

I highly recommend anything from the racetam family - they have significant positive effect on intelligence in healthy individuals. IMO everyone should be taking some sort of nootropic stack with a short-term cognitive booster (eg a racetam) and something for long-term neuronal growth (eg Royal Jelly, Lion's Mane mushroom).

I will say that nootropics aren't necessarily life-changing though. If you could choose between 10% more intelligence and 10% more motivation, I'd go for the motivation since that would make a more significant impact on my success.

I'd be very interested to hear people's experiences with drugs that keep you motivated and boost mood. For me the racetams don't have a significant effect in this area but they're great for creativity.

Anyone tried the Chaos and Pain one yet? http://www.chaosandpain.com/cannibal-gen...pic-blend/

Looked at the ingredients and they have the whole kitchen sink in there. They say you should only be taking it 3 or so non-consecutive days per week.

Most nootropics have diminishing returns because your brain can't always fire neurons at that increased rate. The day after I've used modafinil I usually feel a bit slower.

Someone I know has great experiences with phenylpiracetam. Similar to pricetam, but much stronger.

He says that combined with caffeine it is a pretty strong 'focus' for 4-6 hours. Used 1-2 times a week

RE: Nootropics Thread
I've tried literally everything over the years...

Modafanil: Was totally underwhelming considering all the hype surrounding it. (Limitless drug, pffftt) Actually made me feel incredibly spacey, with noticeable brainfog and short term memory loss. The amount of ditzy shit I was doing all day was incredible. I even left my fucking phone in a taxi cab I was so spaced out. The girl I was with said that my "energy was totally off". I do daily exercises on Lumosity and online chess and my performance literally tanked while on Modafanil. My appetite was shot the entire day. Performance in the gym was down. I couldn't even add the stacks of weights I had on things like leg press and hack squats without major effort and recalculation.

The second and third trials, I used half a dose and felt a little better. No cognitive enhancing effect, but no need for my normal midday nap either. In fact, it severely fucked my sleep every time I took it and I found I was gazing at the ceiling until 5am every time I took it.

I gave away the rest of the box after that. Waste of money.

The best things I've taken for cognitive enhancement are Biotest Spike (sulbutamnie is awesome) and the old Jack3d formula containing DMAA. It wasn't just the noticeable stimulatory effect, but I had my most productive and creative ideas while using those supplements.

Sometimes when I need a boost I will chew some Nicorette for a nice head clearing effect. It's amazing.

Creatine has positive effects on cognitive enhancement but is very subtle and not noticeable until it's gone from your supplement stack.

Noopept was good at times but made my heart race, blood pressure skyrocket and I was very edgy with people.

Never noticed anything from the racetams (Oxi, Ani or Piracetam)

Theanine I found to be piss weak. It's billed as an approach anxiety killer. Really??? 10-20mg of propranalol, a beta blocker, not only kills approach anxiety, interview or public speaking nerves, you won't even feel the slightest heart flutter when a barroom brawl or street fight breaks out. Traffic rage becomes a thing of the past on prop.

Bottom line is everyone's a universe unto themselves, so results are going to differ across the spectrum.

Biz - most docs should be ok in prescribing it. It's extremely cheap to purchase. Only real sides I was warned against was lowered blood pressure (which is bad if your BP is already low) and subsequent BP spike if you suddenly discontinue use.

Tried piracetam for three months a couple of years ago. The only thing I got from it was a strong headache, terrible mood swings and little to no improvement in concentration. A strong expresso gave me better results than piracetam, go figure.

Reviving this thread to get some advice on AMP Citrate (close cousin to the now banned DMAA). Anyone here tried it for lifting purposes?

I'm thinking about getting Lui Marco's "The Bump", which has AMP Citrate in it.

Here's a link about AMP Citrate for those interested.

4 caps for THAT little dosage? I have no doubt these ingredients actually work, but they're in such a low dosage i don't think you would notice much. 60$ for a 25 day supply? Come on.

I see how these can stack together, it seems legit but let's break it down. It's basically a few key vitamins you can get from any multivitamin, mixed with

L-Tyrosine 350mg (recommended dosage 500-2000mg) (personally i do 2000mg to feel the effects)
Rhodiola Rosea 300mg (recommended dosage 3000-6000mg)
Panax Ginseng 250mg (recommended dosage 200-400mg)
5HTP 100mg (recommended dosage 300-500mg) (personally i do 500mg to feel the effects).
L-theanine 100g (recommended dosage 200mg) (personally i do 400mg to feel the effects).

Recommended dosage source: https://examine.com/ it's very reliable with scientific studies and tests for each supplement.
Note: The recommended dosage is the bare minimum for an effect/safest, so it's actually higher numbers you're looking for if you want to experience the effects optimally.

That's so underdosed. If you've tried these before, i doubt you will notice much difference, but if your receptors are virgin for this kind of supplementation it could benefit you. Seeing as the reviews are mostly positive this is my conclusion. Could also be a strong placebo.

Coffea arabica i don't have experience with and S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) seems to be the only one dosed normally, at 1000mg.
