RE immigration; I've always felt that like everything in Asia, what matters most is status. If you look like you're rich, you can do what you want.

I usually get 60 day visas from the UK and then extend by 45 (30 then 15) at Phuket immigration; usually takes about 15 mins now that they've finally got some semblance of process and order in place at the office. Then use a couple of VOA before coming home and repeating the whole thing. Never had a single issue.

When did this take place? I was in Chiang Mai a couple months ago in the Nimman area and I saw tons of wealthy looking Asians which I assumed were Korean, but a local told me they're mostly Chinese.

Being here with boots on the ground it does seem like there are less Chinese girls on the dating apps this time around compared to last summer.

But I thought maybe it's the new area I'm staying in and/or because of different seasons.

There was some scandal in the media a few months ago where a Thai airport security guy roughed up some Chinese dude who was causing a scene. Naturally this is literally World War 3 to hundreds of millions of Chinese tourists who are used to acting like colossal assholes anywhere they go and getting away with it, because in their minds, the rest of the planet is also China and just doesn't know it yet. But definitely Southeast Asia.

By the way does anyone know wether it is now tolerated to Vape in Thailand ? Around Bangkok or Phuket ?

I have heard there are prison sentences for vaping and corrupting your way out of police officers is quite expensive (especially in the end of the month) ...

RE: The Bangkok Thread
There are still tons of Chinese coming to Thailand. It was around the time of the B2 killing on Koh Tao island that the PM embraced the upcoming wave of Chinese tourism as a reprieve from "poor Western backpackers." Around that time the Chinese government signed numerous tourism treaties with many different countries so IMHO it was a convenient excuse to say, "Hey, don't look at something bad that may have happened in Thailand, we've got millions of Chinese on the way to replace these farang assholes."

Of course, it was all superficial. There were accidents like the boat in Phuket that killed Chinese nationals. I've seen bedlam at the immigration queues and drunk Chinese pissing off Thai restaurant staff. The Chinese really are a blessing to the lesser-liked Westerners because they take the cake for rude behaviour.

Most importantly, the money is simply not there. The Chinese are experts in funnelling money in and out of countries. Either a Thai-Chinese restaurant hosts the tourists or the tour company buys out a hotel or restaurant, places its guests there and then moves the money back out. The percentage of cash-money that reaches any locals in any country that Chinese visit is much lower than that of Westerners randomly walking down the street and wanting to buy a sovereign (probably from China) from a "real Thai." Many Thais also dislike Chinese. Many Thai-Chinese even dislike Mainland Chinese because their Stone Age mannerism. So it's really a win-win for Mr. Farang.

Like everything in Thailand, it's complicated.

It's not illegal to vape per se, it's illegal to import the devices...hence the high fines as they charge you with smuggling or some nonsense.

Like everything in Thailand, don't take the piss and you'll be fine.

You'll see Thais sitting outside bars in Bangkok openly making clouds.

I have many many business owner friends in Phuket and they are all mentioning the drop off in Chinese.

Anecdotally theres a restaurant I like to go to down by the pier that all the Chinese go out on their little mass group trips from. Earlier in the year there was a constant stream of them coming and going. A few weeks back I was there and I hardly saw any.

RE: The Bangkok Thread
Unrelated to Chinese tourism and its woes... I am trying my hand at chronicling my adventures of game and travel, and wrote an open letter to Thai girls with floppy boobs. Of course none of us wants floppy titties as our first choice, and I have seen some seriously huge, quality knockers in my three months here. But my second-to-last bang had some secret potato pancakes that were on the surface at least pretty disappointing. I usually think open letters are gay but it was cause for some reflection.

Quote:Dear Thai Girls With Floppy Sweet Potato Titties,

I don’t hate your breasts.

I don’t love them, but they’re not all that bad. I semi-enjoy watching them bounce around when you’re on your back getting dicked down, like stilted cartoon characters before the advent of computer animation. Or dangling pendulously when you’re riding me, like the ancient deflated udders of some forgotten cow deity.

I like that I can’t see them when I’m hitting it doggy style. The sweat produced by this goddamned humid as fuck country, as well as the bunny rabbit choking to death on its own vomit sounds some of you make when we have sex from that position either due to thrusting depth or something else (I’m not exactly sure), coupled with the soft lower back hair some of you have (not to mention the horrible tattoos) might dampen the experience for me somewhat.

I also have a bad tattoo. That’s what I’m trying to express here. It’s okay.

I know you’re self-conscious about your less than perfectly-shaped boobs. If your tits were sold as a discount meal at 7-11, they’d be the last item in the prepared foods section, the weird Malaysian fried rice shit with crunchy anchovies and one disgruntled, miniature shrimp. If your tits were in a heist story they would be the thief that gets screwed over by his best friend and is left holding the bag. If your tits were Star Wars characters, they’d be the half-cute, half-ugly alien creatures George Lucas shoehorned into the movie at the last minute against everyone’s better advice and all but soured the movie-going experience everyone but a handful of diehard fans.

But that’s what I’m trying to say. I am a diehard fan. You don’t need to be perfect for me, because I’m not perfect, either.

Your breasts might resemble two saggy missiles slouching toward Armageddon after a tinpot communist state fucked up the engineering, and that’s fine.

Your nose might be two sizes too wide, and summon the most vile of racist thoughts from the bubbling nether-regions of my brain comparing your gargantuan nostrils to those of our less intelligent simian cousins.

Your hair might fall out like a cancer patient’s every time you come over, leaving me to spend a habitual twenty minutes sweeping my place and hunting for your hairs with my phone light so other girls don’t find it and accuse me of cheating (you Thai girls are suspicious).

You might eat McDonald’s and KFC every night on your dinner break at work, post pictures of it to your Instagram, then complain that you’re fat and say we shouldn’t go get Thai iced teas because they have too much sugar.

You might say a ton of other stupid shit that would get you fired, tarred and feathered in the West without hesitation, things like: “white skin is more beautiful,” or “I want to be like Eva Braun. I think she looked pretty.”

Yes. I see your flaws. But I can only imagine what you see when you look at me.

You see a slightly autistic white boy who is in your country because he doesn’t like the women in his own. While he thinks this is a noble quality in men, most people in the world (including you) no doubt find it strange and distasteful.

You see a man with such an overabundance of body hair he reminds you of the monkeys you used to watch wrestling each other in the backyard of your childhood home, their bright red balls flashing hypnotically as they bounded in and out of the jungle.

You see a man who gets mad at you when you do things you think are totally innocent, like swiping tinder when you’re in bed with him after he’s done bouncing your unappealing human pancakes around for a few minutes, or pulling some death-defying swerve across four lanes of impossibly close moving traffic when he’s riding on the back of your motorbike.

You see a man with a small pot belly he can’t get rid of, despite working out six days a week and quitting alcohol.

You see a man with teeth yellower than he wants to admit due to the high quantity of instant coffee he consumes – instant, because he’s also a cheap motherfucker.

You see a man who would fuck anything if it was easy, including probably a midget or certain vaguely anthropomorphic species of zoo animals.

You see a man whose only apparent talent in life is aping the styles of better writers.

You see a man who takes child-like glee in undressing you and revealing the breasts the men in your own country don’t want because your not-quite-slim, definitely not buxom body doesn’t meet their ridiculously high standards of feminine beauty.

You see a man who somehow beholds said beauty in those semi-flat bags of skin, mammary glands, and adipose tissue nature made to swing from your chest; a man who clumsily removes your bra and concludes that feminine beauty seldom meets every man’s conception of it, and that is why it is precious; a man who is content to simply find a little slice of it to call his own, because even that much is fleeting, and if we don’t take the time to stop and appreciate it, we may as well keel over and rot.

You see me. I see you. And I just want to say, I sort of like your floppy sweet potato titties.

RE: The Bangkok Thread
Facebook Dating

It's been released 2 weeks ago in Thailand (Android only). I watched a video on Youtube showing how to access Dating inside the Facebook app but I couldn't find it (probably Facebook did some A/B testing and I got unlucky, or they wanted to add more girls than men first). I tried everything (adding information about where I live, reinstalling the app...) but didn't work... Anyway, finally yesterday night at 2am I received a notification on my Android! Something like "Do you want to try Facebook Dating?".

So after creating my profile, I began to swipe. You have to send an opener when you want to "match someone". She will see you in her "Interested" tab AKA the attention-whore tab. Here are my first impressions (Chiang Mai) :

- Decent ratio of replies. I didn't count how many girls I swiped (10 hours ago) but I already have 25 conversations from about 50-100 girls opened. That's better than Skout (novelty effect).

- No girl actively swiped me (I have 0 messages in the "Interested" tab). They just replied to my message.

- Seems like there is no ELO system yet.
-> Advantage : I can swipe like a madman without fearing repercussions from the fb algorithm, until they fix that (Thailand is probably just an experiment so it's possible that it'll stay like that for a few weeks more).
-> Disadvantage : Tons of lame profiles (pics of cats, babies, etc) that would have an ELO too low to reach me on Tinder. Have to swipe more to filter all that.

- Big user pool which will probably grow a lot in the next few weeks. It's a very new app but I'm continuing to swipe right now and still can't see the bottom ("no more users in your area")

- I got a reply from a girl that would by experience probably not have matched me on Tinder. Blond ukrainian / russian judging by the way she sends smileys + long 4 lines text.

Conclusion : I'm going to swipe everything bangable in sight and see if I can utilize this as my main tool to fuck as many sluts as possible. If Fb Dating stays that way (anyone can message a girl), I think it'll become like Skout, completely spammed. Too bad Fb Dating doesn't exist in Web version it would have been easier to make an auto swiper. I think it would be great because chances are that Fb algorithm still doesn't detect that. I'll see if I can manage to make an Android autoliker for personal use.

I searched on Google looking for results from the past week and nobody is talking about the Facebook dating app being out or even a download link. Just that it will pioneer in Thailand and Canada and its' name is just "Facebook Dating" (like that will help me find it on a search engine).

Yeah it's quite likely they won't have Tinder's ELO (which took years to create). Also it should draw in a lot of new blood to online dating. The reality is most of the girls on Tinder have been on that app for years (I notice this especially in areas with fewer Tinder accounts. Same women show up for 6+ months and barely change their photos).

Regards immigration, Was about to post it was fine but waited till I returned. Got in the wrong line at Don Meaung. Fat , red faced, glasses , receding hairline thai 25 year old or so. Looked completely beta and his buddy beside him was giving people a hard time. Called me with some envious look, Acted lathargic and took passport. Asked me why I am in Thailand so much, Told him and he spoke to his buddy beside him. Didn't say much but took long, Wrote something on my arrival slip and put me through.

That was also at Don Mueang. That airport seems worse for that sort of stuff eh? It's like the shitty older airport that only mostly budget airlines in SEA use? Is there any evidence that Suvarnabhumi has more lenient immigration?

Seems to be that way, only place I have ever been questioned was DMK. Pays to probably dress nice when showing up at immigration. Dressing nice, especially wearing a suit and carrying yourself well affords you a bit more respect and positive attention in Thailand.

It's only logical because Don Mueang serves Air Asia and other cheap regional airlines so it's bound to attract many more visa runners than Suvarnabhumi where all the premium long-haul airlines fly to.

I paid abound 25€ per night around Asok, short term, but over 10 minutes walking distance to the Skytrain.

Another point about immigration.

I haven't flown into DMK in so long I can't remember it really; so I don't know if this is an option there.

But at SUV there is a premium immigration fast track line. I get it free with my flights but I know you can purchase it irrespective. Can't imagine it's hugely expensive and it is usually a case of walking directly to the desk; no queues.

Anyway, as I was saying earlier about status in Asia being everything, this is a worthwhile purchase if you're trying to give the impression of not being a backpacking, bar girl banging scumbag.

The last few times I've been through this line entering the country, the female immigration officer has wai'd to me...that doesn't happen in the normal line...my passport is just page after page of thai visas and stamps at the moment too.

On my way out last week the dude at fast track was wearing headphones on his phone and didn't even look up at me once.

I purchase the fast track for every arrival to and departure from BKK, I think it costs me $50 USD, or something around that but I pay more for the additional car service.

For arrivals it's great, but for departures it's a godsend. I remember last year my American friend decided to save the 50 bucks and take his chances going through regular immigration. He said it took him over an hour and a half to get through immigration and he had to frantically race through SUV to barely make his flight.

On the other hand, it took me around 20 minutes to get through with the fast track pass, so the expense is definitely worth it for your time and peace of mind.

I'll be in Bangkok from Dec. 10th, for at least a month. I think I'm just going there to add Asia to the list of continents I've visited.

Thai girls certainly won't make it in my top 20 nationality preference, if I made a list. I like my girls way curvier.
Most people seem to have overall positive feedback on Thailand though, so I guess that's why I'm giving it a shot.

its gotten more expensive than 5 years ago thats for sure, i used to rent a condo for 5k baht in suburban bangkok. condos now cost 10k baht minimum if you want near MRT or BTS. food depends on your preference and your body size. western food is still pricey , thai food cheap and easy to find.. minimum 1500 USD per month imo for a half decent lifestyle..
