RE: Racism in Poland
Just like everywhere else, use common sense. Learn some Polish, that will already decrease your chances of racism. If people tell you to not go somewhere, just don't go there unless you have very important business to do. Whenever you see some drunk guys, just cross the street. That should keep you clear for the most time. As long as people don't forcefully stop you, just continue walking even if they tell you one or two comments. Who cares, your time is too precious to waste it on bad people.

As I am half Polish, I can tell you that Poles generally appreciate it when you know some Polish.

RE: Racism in Poland
There's racism in Poland but you generally can get a sense of where you can hangout. The younger 18-25 year old college students have no problem with foreigners and the girls will be very open to meeting them. Basically, if you see someone Polish and think this person could pass for American then you're safe.

I have a friend there, Polish buddy, 6 4" built and another guy and we both hung around a Middle eastern guy with Dark brown skin who I hated. Wasn't due to racism. Just didn't like him. Anyways, he ended up ripping off my Polish friend for 80,000 USD. My Polish buddy was like "well that's the way it goes, I won't dwell on negativity". Sometimes Poland can be more forgiving than you think.

poland is a strange beast... I am white American and I felt a bit like a whooping was upon me at times just for being a foreigner there. I know my friend from CAN in Warsaw got beat to a pulp for no reason an inch from his life when some dudes asked him for a lighter and he genuinely didn't have one and he responded IN PERFECT POLISH he has lived there for 10 years and have deep fam there- so there's that

but in general, I felt fine it was just a few 'upticks' at times esp. at night no doubt

Typical reaction in Poland:

If you speak in English people will be pissed of and will ask you:"Why don't you speak polish??"
If you speak in Polish people will be pissed of and will ask you: "Why do you speak in polish??"

As a result, I learned to switch off my brain for most social interaction.

RE: Racism in Poland
My friend had 5K USD which he accumulated over years. He gave all of his money to our mutual "friend", the Middle Eastern guy who claimed he ran a website that bought Bitcoin. This was a few years ago. The 5 K investment went up to nearly 80K in value. My friend checked his account one day and realized the website was gone. So he went to the Middle eastern guy to ask where his money was (naturally) and then the MiddleEAstern guy gave him the runaround (and disappeared).

PS I have no reason to lie to a bunch of dudes on the internet.

RE: Racism in Poland
One should really consider the history of a place to get a general idea as to how you may be viewed as a foreigner, and especially if you’re going to frequent alcohol serving establishments and flirt with the local women.

Poles have a historic reputation as being fierce fighters, almost as fanatical as the Japanese in the sense that they would rather fight to the death than surrender. By not being too open to outsiders, it’s also helped keep them alive. If you ever look at a map showing the spread of the Black Plague that ravaged Europe in the 1300s, you may notice this little speck in Poland that wasn’t even touched, while other surrounding European populations were decimated by at much as 50% or more.

They’ve also historically been vulnerable to invasion since they lack any porous natural barrier as protection, such as what the English Channel does to protect Great Britain, or the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans do to protect North America. It’s subtle, but over a long period of time it kind of becomes ingrained into your psyche.

Then in the previous century, they undoubtedly got the worst deal out of the Second World War, being invaded in 1939 from the west by Germany, and then two weeks later from the east by the Soviet Union. Then after the war, the Allies were forced to concede Poland’s fate to Stalin’s Soviet Union, which they were under and often brutally oppressed for nearly half a century. Poles have not forgotten any of this, and it’s something to keep in mind before you do anything that can set off a short fused lad with a chip on their shoulder.

Yukking it up with their women is a good way to attract the wrong kind of attention, and i’ve personally felt this tension when i’ve gone where I easily stick out. Fortunately, i’ve never been in any fights over it, but i’ve been mean mugged plenty of times in South America and Asia. Even in America, i’ve received some dirty looks by Asians for being with a pretty Asian girl. It definitely made me uncomfortable, and is partly why Asian women are less interesting to me these days.

But I don’t begrudge anyone for it, and i’m just glad nobody has ever put me in a position where I had to fight over it. But I also don’t pick up my girls in alcohol serving establishments, as it’s hard to find trustworthy girls at such places, in addition to local guys who may interpret something I do wrong and feel it necessary to protect his turf. This is a boundary that we all have to accept to some degree and respect.

I’ve not personally had any run ins with Poles, nor Russians, who have a similar reputation as being more closed to outsiders. I’ve found it most helpful to at least learn a few local words and to always be courteous (say please and thank you, etc), and that seems to be a good blend of exhibiting enough customary respect without coming off as a try-hard, or Western spy, among other things.

If people are really being attacked for no reason, and even outside of known trouble places like bars and football matches, then the best advice I could give is to 1. Stay out of places frequented by trouble makers, and 2. Be conscious of your behaviour when walking around with a pretty Polish girl in your arms. It can be easy to send the wrong message and find trouble for it. This is true in most of the world, and it’s not due to any inherent deformity within the Polish character.

RE: Racism in Poland
Racism is a term invented by Trotsky as part of the Marxist agenda to divide people along lines of race, and it worked.

We now have races which we think of as oppressed (anything non-white) and oppressor (whites).

Before Trotsky, people's preference towards their own race was as unspoken and common sense as a child missing their mother rather than missing a mother.

i.e. no one calls a child a bigot if they cry when their mother isn't around, then another mother attempts comfort the child to no avail because the child wants their own mother.

We have to get these Marxist terms out of our vernacular.

If you don't like a place because of the way people react to you, because you're not part of their ethnicity, go somewhere else instead of accusing them of wrong-doing

Exactly. Most of us have unknowingly played right into this agenda with the mere utterance of the word. The best thing that could happen is to have the word disappear from our vocabulary completely. If you see the charted historical use of the word over time, there’s a casual relationship between it’s rise, and this dystopian clown world that we’ve inherited.

Not to mention, it makes no sense. What they call “racism” is merely the reality of how things are supposed to be. Our attempts to deny it, and then change it, is in part responsible for a large share of the subversive nonsense that’s corrupted far too many of us. They were led to believe they were initiating the exact opposite of this culture destroying disease that’s been wrought upon society.

Even though I've never been to Poland.

Just by looking at the population demographics. Almost 98% of the population is White. As a foreigner, you will standout.

Take the necessary precautions, learn the culture, and you should be alright.

It’s perfectly normal to behave like this everywhere else, yet we only compartmentalise the European world as being dysfunctional, while assuming they have no good reason to be anything but devoted to a hopelessly altruistic sense of survival.

RE: Racism in Poland
Everyone speaks of racism in Poland, but who has actually first-hand experienced racism in Poland? If you go to small cities -- sure, you will pull some looks given the population is mostly white, but in any major cities? Not a standard, but something that people are heavily used to and have no problem with. Racism is a bigger issue in Western countries, where people have directly experienced threat from black and arab migrants. Sure, the percentage of unaware, brainwashed by the liberal government people in heavily-populated with migrants EU countries is higher too, but not by much to be honest -- this aspect is definitely on the rise in Poland as well, especially among the young generation.

I_luh_durian -- where were you? I know plenty of foreigners who have no problem with any form of racism in Poland whatsoever. Especially when you are white. Even if you are black or whatever the race -- shouldn't be a problem. Unless you look like an migrant boom, then sure some hooligans may pick up on you. I would say white Ukrainians are more subject to racism than any colored race at the moment.

Poland is extremely safe. I have been in tons of weird situations and seriously -- opposed to West, worst thing that can really happen to you if you fuck something up is getting beaten, have a wallet stolen or something of this sort. In Stockholm, London or Paris you are more likely to get knifed than actually take a few punches in the face (not by the whiteys though, they will just conservatively beat you up).

Literally, just most basic precautions will work -- don't go to football matches cause you can get into many bad situations irrespectively if you are american, indian, black or polish white. The less white the bigger the chances, but that's how it works in any EU country I guess, right?
And secondly, don't stare at people. I know how much annoying it can be for Polish people. Don't act like you are your in own hood, don't stare, and don't give bad looks. Be respectful - it's enough.

Other than that -- seriously, how many incidents of racism have you saw in Poland? Even the liberal Western media despite spreading the idea of racism in countries like Poland or Hungary that refuse to take huge amounts of muslim migrants, are not GIVING ANY EXAMPLES of actual racism of Poland. Talking to my belgian and german friends, I can clearly see that racism is bigger in 'soon-to-be-caliphate' EU countries, but people are afraid to react and even say anything. In Poland you can see some of the negative comments because they are tolerated up to a certain degree thanks to having a right party in charge at the moment. But this will probably change pretty soon as they pull their own kind of stupid shit that is making many people pissed. Though, on the other hand -- people will always be dissapointed with a government.

In all honesty, my favourite Europeans in the U.K. have been poles.

Honest to a fault and straight-shooters.

Southern Europeans were pricks. Glad most pissed off. I suspect they might be the most “ racist” Europeans to be honest.

RE: Racism in Poland
Noticed some racism in Poland too, mainly towards "brown" people (in the broad sense, especially Arabs and/or Muslims, a bit less towards Indians/Pakistanis but still some). Also towards black people but probably to a lesser extent.
But it's not just towards darker skinned people, some have resentment towards any foreigners including white skinned ones (Ukrainians, Russians...)

It is what it is, they've been screwed in the past by different "political movements" (trying not to politicize the convo too much) and want to protect their identity. Oh well if not Poland there are dozens of other great options!
