We've heard the advice from game experts (Mystery, Roosh, and countless others) and male self-improvement sites in general, that porn is bad news. It saps sex-drive and inhibits one's ability to go out into the world and approach, make money, work out, build things, fill in the blank.

No question that's true, but I also have a tough time squaring this with the argument that aloofness is what gets the girl. We know that women get approached exponentially more now thanks to OKC, tinder, etc. This of course has led to unprecedented levels of flaking from women as they can gain weight, put zero effort into their looks, act bitchy, and still get hit on hundreds of times by needy guys desperate for sex.

Doesn't this ever-worsening "death spiral" make porn a good thing? If having an aloof, outcome-independent attitude is the key element in generating attraction, then porn is most certainly a godsend. If I stop masturbating and watching pornography, which I have carried out for month-long streaks, I find myself becoming a lot more outcome-dependent. I will do whatever it takes to get sex and put up with far more flaking and BS from girls. This "chase anything to get pussy" mindset is definitely not the Don Draper attitude that most pickup artists advise us to adopt.

There is no question that abstaining from masturbation and porn will force me to do approaches, send out hundreds messages on OKCupid, spend money on dates, deal with flakes, and put in lots of effort that may lead to a couple bangs here and there. But what if I replaced that whole mindset with this three-step system:

1. Approach a few girls but have "the attitude" (be outcome-indifferent) with them.
2. Qualify them and hold them to your standards.
3. If they flake or fail to meet these standards (in our culture, with the endless choice they posses, the vast majority of them will flake as they have limitless needy guys knocking on the door), then no problem, their loss: walk away and go watch porn. This releases any sexual tension and creates/maintains the aloof attitude discussed in #1 above. Repeat.

Great post.

Porn makes you sexually self-sufficient. It's a game changer because you don't need a woman to get off. The second she thinks you need, her, she has the power.

Most guys have'nt realized this and think porn is for "losers", when if you look at it differently, it helps you to have a winning mindset. Shift your mindset to porn (i.e. masturbation) means I become outcome independent and I believe women will pick up on that.

Yeah, as I get a little older my sex drive is dropping. If I have a date or am going out within 24-48 hours I make a point to avoid porn so I have the horniness to not only push the interaction to the finish line (killer instinct, etc.) but also to perform even after drinking with a new girl I might not be super comfortable with.

Porn is like any drug e.g. alcohol. It all depends on how you use it and your own personality and sex drive. If you have a high drive it's quite possible you could watch porn and jack off three times and still go out and want to game women. In the end it's all about balance and just like drinking it all comes down to the individual and how they use it. If you are using porn as a substitute for real sex then that's not good. If you are using it relieve stress then it can be good. Going out all stressed out won't help you in any way. It's like any other drug, it all comes down to using it in moderation and knowing yourself and it's impact on you.

A) porn desensitizes you to average beauty. You'll no longer get turned on by normal women, after seeing countless perfect fits and asses bouncing away to every one f your fantasies. And if you don't get turned on by someone, ull be less motivated to approach....it is easier to just rub one out and go back to sleep eh?

B) maybe its linked to testosterone, maybe its the whole psychoimmunosexual nexus or whatever, i cant say, but you'll find that you're much better off socially if you abstain from porn. Your spirits will rise, you'll be able to withstand a little more stress, and your social senses will become sharper.
Conversely, an addiction or even a mild excess of porn will usually lead to a corresponding loss of self esteem, motivation and social calibration.


The effects of abstaining from porn are very real, but will vary from person to person depending on their levels of addiction, core behaviors,surrounding environment etc.

This guy's got it. Staring at the world's hottest women doing literally anything you can imagine kinda throws you out of reality. I'm still a noob, so abundance mentality is my thing, and it just seems turning yourself off to more chicks leads to less approaches, and it domino effects from there. As for confidence, if you jump right in and start chasing 8+, you WILL get shot down more, and that might not be best for maintaining the aloof game mentality.

My life has never been better the more porn I watch.

I get more aggressive and my standards go up without because I can't trick my brain into thinking I am having 3somes with 8s by watching porn meanwhile being content with busting on a low 6 here and there.

There are other sources as well. The destructive nature is certain. The same goes for video-games which lower the killing threshold for men - that's why the military always co-financed video-games.

Now - having said that - I enjoy both violent video games sometimes as well as porn. Keeping it in moderation is key - as with all vices - alcohol, unhealthy food etc. Just don't lie to yourself that doing it daily is good for you!
