A girl I've been talking too for six months wants me to meet her in Georgia or Montenegro - it seems easier than me getting to where she lives in Siberia or her getting to North America. Other options were Thailand or Kazakhstan but neither are too appealing to me.

I'm 27, she's 26. Both looking for a longterm relationship but looking to have a few holidays together before we try something crazy or meet each others families.

TLDR; What are some visa free (or low effort) places both Russians and North Americans can visit affordably that are pleasant to see.

On what App or Website did you meet her?

RE: The Russia Thread
Dude. Go to Siberia. On the second meeting you can meet her elsewhere. Meet some of her friends. 6 months is a big investment of time talking. You will gain massive perspective on her once you see her town, life, etc. plus Siberia is rad. You will have a magical experience if all goes well. If you have time she can see you off in Moscow. If things go poorly you can meet other Siberian girls. I have yet to meet a Georgian girl I care about. Go their to eat not for women. Siberian women will be curious about you. She will see your value in her hometown and may come to like you more. Waitresses will giggle at your English shop girls will go out of their way to help you. Her girlfriends will want to meet you. Don’t waste your time in Montanegro or Georgia. Go to the Heart of the Slavic Motherland and thank me later. I’ll be jealous.

When you message them via whatsapp or instagram, they are barely responsive, even though they do respond.

So what is up with these girls can I ask? Are they real girls interested in meeting/dating in Pitir ? How do they get the money to travel so much? Are these girls golddiggers or sponsored by some rich Russian guy ? or maybe part-time escorts?

Most are normal girls who save up to go on vacation with friends or boyfriend/husband. Charter flights from Russia to SE Asia aren't prohibitively expensive.

Some are soft pros who will have a guy pay for the trip and then fuck him during the trip and get presents.

Some are escorts who are paid in cash.

They'll sneak into the fancy places to get impressive photos. No venue will turn away a smoking hot Russian lizard, even if she's broke. They also drip-feed photos of past trips, so they might not actually be going somewhere every weekend.

They're all real girls that are interested in meeting you (doesn't matter whether they have boyfriends/husbands or are single) if they feel they can get something from it (the kickback from the bar scam goes towards saving for their next vacation, the selfies from the date will be posted on Instagram and used to bait other guys/make current guys jealous, etc).

yeh you seem to know what you are talking about... everyone else is saying they are just nice girls...but i've run into this type of behavior in Brazil... girls will pretend to be into you and go out until you take them somewhere special and then spend all the time there taking selfies in a bikini for hours and leave you feeling like a john...so this can't be that normal

I have another question for you guys. I'm about 1 month out from landing in Saint Petersburg, i have about 20 leads from Tinder and such...2 of my leads have asked me, via whatsapp, for a loan. It's odd b/c one of my leads was probably the most caring, down-to-earth person and we talked a lot the past week or two....and neither were super hot, i'd put them at 7, 7.5

In both cases, after they messaged me they immediately apologized and said somethng like "nevermind, i feel like such a fool, ignore that"...

This seems odd, they are asking for a loan and immediately apologizing, even before i can respond..they aren't deleting the whatsapp message "for everyone" like we would do..they are letting it go through. the original message and apology, .and i'm not even in Russia for another month... I told them both that's fine, i forgive you....but i'm not like that so if you're looking for that, look elsewhere, i think we're looking for different things...and they apologized a few times and said they did want to keep talking and meet,...i said fine.

are these basically bad chicks, trying to use guys for money and the whole being nice and caring thing was a complete fassad? Again the 2nd girl was my best lead, she was proactively messaging me for like 2 weeks, leaving me voicemails on instagram and things..

any other scams or types of bad girls i should watch out for? no one posted anything like this on the thread and i'm surprised, that out of my leads, literally 10% have already asked me for a loan and immediately apologized, i'm guessing they expect the guy to start asking questions and trying to help or something. if there are any more complicated scams or similar things i should watch out please post, i would greatly appreciate it. i already know the bar tab scam talked about here

Dude, if a woman you didn't even meet in real person is asking you for money, it's obvious that is a scam, isn't it? I know that your rational part is fighting against that. Beware, because the rationale of "it is normal in my culture" is BULLSHIT.

Do not be taken for a ride.

Next them, scammers or not, they're asking for money online. With the amount of cute girls in Russia I wouldn't spend any more time chatting with them.
Why would they delete their messages if their main goal is getting your money??
Let's not sugarcoat it, it is not a loan, if you give them money, do you really think they'll give it back to you?
No offence here please, but you seem a little naive, Russian girls are very smart, if you don't wake up, they're going to take advantage of you big time.

RE: The Russia Thread
I am planning to move to Russia for 1-2 years to enroll into a Russian university for an intensive Russian for foreigners course. But I am not sure which city will be my best bet and would love to hear your opinion on that.

I was in Russia last summer, I visited 5 cities and stayed for about 2 and half months in total. That said, none of the cities I visited stand out to me as a place I'd like to stay for an extended amount of time. I’d list them from my most favorite to the least:

- Moscow: Really liked it. A truly amazing world class city with lots of hot chicks of any and every variety with tons of things to do apart from gaming and studying. The other thing I loved about MSK is that it is so mixed that I was going under the radar pretty well without feeling any racism toward me (My background is middle eastern). The downside is that your cost of living would be exactly double compare to other cities in Russia (even the university tuition is twice as much) and while it’s still affordable for someone coming from the west, I am not sure your ROI will be double as well. Also, there is terrible traffic and every day hustle and bustle that could eventually grind on you. I had mixed feelings about MSK and my final verdict was that if you don’t have a to be in Moscow for work or business then maybe you shouldn’t choose MSK as your expat home base but I am not entirely sure about that.

- Kazan: Nice and clean with good infrastructure. Could see myself staying there and enrolling in their main university but I felt that it could get incredibly boring over time. I also felt some minor racism there but it was tolerable.

- Ekaterinburg: It looked like a (much) smaller version of Moscow, nothing special about it. The only downside is that it is in the middle of Russia which makes occasional trips to Europe longer and more expensive. I guess MSK and SPB are the best choices if you want to travel to Europe on occasions to take a break from the soviet world. I’ve also heard that Ekaterinburg together with Chelyabinsk have some serious pollution problems but I didn’t notice that during my 4 days there.

- Nizhny Novgorod: I found it boring and kind of depressing so much so that I could not believe this is the fifth largest city in Russia with over a million population.

- SPB: *I* personally did not like it at all. I found it overrated and everything else mentioned on this thread about it is spot-on. However, if you speak Russian and can tap into that market then I guess we are talking about a whole different ball game.

TL;DR: I failed to find a city that I liked for long term stay in Russia and that’s where I need your help. Based on what I’ve read here so far I am thinking about:

- Novosibirsk
- Omsk
- Samara
- Volgograd
- Rostov-on-Don
- Perm

What I am looking for is a 2nd tier city with a good university and student population that hopefully will not be so boring to live at. Proximity to Europe would be a plus but not a deal breaker. What do you think?

My other question is that does any of you guys did this in Russia before? And by that, I mean getting an invitation from a university in Russia to study Russian as a foreigner? I am curious to know if it would be possible to stay in Russia on a business visa for a year and then attend these courses in different universities across the country. Kind of just pay the tuition and show up in the classes. The reason for that is because the universities are extremely slow with their invitation process and I guess your student visa is only valid as long as you stay with that particular university but I want to stay in different cities for 3-4 months each to get a better grasp of the country overall.

Thank you for your time and sorry for the long read.

I loved Moscow's Energy for the short time I was there, it is both the Political, Business and Financial capital of Russia all major business deals eventually go through Moscow in Russia.

There are many western companies even post-sanctions looking to capitalize upon Russian business opportunities. Having a business level competency in Russian will let you know if the people you are dealing with are real or frankly dodgy.

I would get iirc a 3 year biz multi entry visa to Russia, Study Russian basics and for business in Moscow, attend Moscow Business Expositions and Conferences, network there for business - with both Russian companies looking for bilingual employees and Western Companies at networking conferences looking for bizopps in Russia and pass out your Consulting Business Cards on any Topics you may be fairly competent in like sales, marketing, engineering, web SMMA etc.

FYI MGU https://mgu-russian.com/en/learn/courses/ and

Moscow Exhibitions https://www.expocentr.ru/en/exhibitions/list/ and

Bring some hot female MGU Students studying and practicing English along as your PA/Translators

Be careful Russian Women like to lock down ambitious men especially with a plan B passport.

Then write and share a RVF Data Sheet on Moscow Trade Show Game for fun and profit.

Enjoy.

There is no such thing as an interesting second-tier city in Russia. The only interesting cities in Russia are Moscow and Piter. Everything else is a shithole and there are reasons why people want to escape. Stick to Moscow. You will like it. If you want to get away you can still take a low-cost flight to some remote village.

SPB probably has the worst weather among all Russian cities, Siberia excluded. I remember I was there late August and people started to wear their winter jackets! I was surprised but it seems to be business as usual for locals. Also I found the dating scene among the English speaking chicks to be a complete shit show. Their flakes and horrible attitudes reminded me of my beautiful city of Toronto. But again if you speak Russian and had a great time in SPB, I believe you. All in all, I think it's a great place to soak in some history and architecture and then maybe go and explore Baltic countries. But living there long term? No thank you.

We have to take into account the looks, face, height, race and such of every rooshv user, because that causes different responses in women, apart from the randomness of daygame and such. If for somebody a place is not suitable, it is not...for him. And all the way around. As we say in Spain, "cada uno habla de la feria según le va en ella".

Maybe if some users are very similar in previous characteristics, then the experiences could be more suitable to be compared.

3 years multi entry visa to Russia is only available for US citizens. As a Canadian max I can do is a one year multi entry biz visa but like I said I am not sure if you can attend university courses while on a biz visa and not a student one. If anyone has done this before, I'd love to hear that.

MGU is more like a private school than a university although they claim to be part of Lomonosov. Their prices are also a bit higher ($200/w). I am wondering if anyone took courses with them and if so, how was their experience?

I know this is the russia thread but have you considered Kiev or Minsk? While not Moscow or SP I’d probably put these as viable locations above 2nd tier Russia - but I’ve only seen Sochi and Kaliningrad so cant claim authority.

Another alternative would be to do an intro course initially in one city for 6 months then move to another local?

I totally agree. What I've learned from all my travels is that a) There is no such a thing as perfect place b) Liking or disliking a city is a *very* subjective thing. Not only your background but also the place that you grew up at plays a big role. For example, a guy who is from a small city might find Moscow hectic and unbearable and someone who used to big cities will probably find a Russian 2nd tier city boring.

I've been to both recently and they are definitely better than 2nd tier Russia *city wise*. That said, I will not go back to Ukraine (as for the reasons, I explained them in Ukraine thread and won't get to them here). Regarding Minsk, I liked it but ever since they introduced this 30 days visa free regim, hordes of sex tourists are going there mostly from one particular region and we all know what happens when these guys start to go to a country. I think Minsk and Belarus is going to be ruined soon if not already.

RE: The Russia Thread
I see you guys are discussing living/moving to a Tier 2 Russian city, I lived in Volgograd for more than 2 years, this is the info I posted about the city a while ago, I hope it helps someone. After Volgograd I moved to Saint Petersburg, I can answer questions about both. Here it is:

This is a short data sheet on Volgograd - волгоград (former Stalingrad), Russia.

This will be my first data sheet and English is not my first language, so if the structure of my writing is not the best or if there are grammatical mistakes or misspellings I apologize in advance.

I’ll tell you guys a few things about myself:

I’m a mid-late thirties guy originally from southern Europe, I have lived in several countries in Europe and I’m currently in Asia. I’m around 183cm or 6ft and I used to be in good shape but I haven’t worked out for some time now.

My experience in Volgograd:

I lived there from September 2013 until November 2015, afterwards I moved to Saint Petersburg. In both cities I worked as a language teacher, my income for Russian standards was quite decent but I was no baller.

The City:
First named Tsaritsyn, then Stalingrad after the USSR’s Prime Minister and then Volgograd after WWII. Volgograd means the city on the (river) Volga. Volgograd is in south west Russia and has a population of around one million people, the city is quite long and it’s parallel to the river Volga.
Volgograd, being quite near for Russian standards to the Caucasus, has a pretty large community of people originally from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Chechnya, Abkhazia etc.
Volgograd is not a beautiful city, most of it is made of Communist blocks built right after the battle of Stalingrad and during the 50’s, 60’s etc. There are a couple of nice long streets, ie the alley of the heroes аллея героев being one of them.

The weather:
It’s Russia so in winter it’s going to be freezing cold, plenty of ice and snow. Winter generally starts in November and it ends in April or sometimes even in May. In summer it can get really hot and sunny. I recommend visiting Volgograd in May or in September.

How to get there:
I personally took a train Simferopol in Crimea, at the time Crimea was part of the Ukraine, not it’s part of Russia (no politics here, just pointing that out), it was a very long train ride, if I remember correctly it was like 26 hours. The train was old, hot, smelly and crowded but a really eye-opening experience.

The Food:
There are some foreign restaurants in Volgograd, mostly Italian and some German, I used to like the food and beer at Bamber on Ulitsa Sovetskaya, 20, near the embarkment, or the pizza in Rimini on Ulitsa Gagarina, 9, near the planetarium, saying so, there were not many foreign food options in the city, perhaps now the situation has changed (I left this city almost three years ago). The fact of hosting a large community of people from the Caucasus also means there are plenty of restaurant that offer Georgian and Armenian food, Sashlik, Georgian wine etc were quite nice.

The girls:
I bet this is what most people wanted to read about. Yes, the girls were gorgeous, really high average when compared to western girls. I’ve read a lot about the three date rule in Russia and so on, I can confirm that ONS were not the rule in Volgograd, I had some but not many. Generally I had to date the girls a few times to seal the deal, I’d say if I had met the girls from the internet then the bang might have happened sooner but not always.
I used to use Mamba and Badoo for most of my bangs, Tinder was not that popular back then. Meeting girls in bars or clubs was fairly easy, given they knew I was a westerner and quite exotic, having an apartment by myself in the city center also helped big time.

Bars/clubs:
I used to go to the bars by the pier quite often, near the main street in town, Ulitsa Lenina, there was a little bar, Mischka, that was the place to be during the week. I found that Volgograd’s nightlife was pretty weak but a city of its size, I guess the fact that most people didn’t have much money to go out didn’t help.

Conclusion:
I had a blast in Russia, I really did. As I said earlier on, I left Volgograd after two years, mostly because the city didn’t have much to offer. I moved to Saint Petersburg but I was disappointed and left after a few months. I now live in Asia and I love it. I plan to stay here for many years. I’ll be happy to answer any questions.
