For personal income tax it's 18% as standard for worldwide income however if you're a temp. resident, you're only required to pay taxes on Ukrainian income.

Seek the advice of a qualified tax accountant with a specialisation in Ukraine prior to changing your tax affairs.

I heard this from a start up entrepreneur (who is Ukrainian) but of course if you are a foreigner it probably isn't as simple as that. For Aussies and Americans I believe the tax authorities expect you to pay them the difference regardless of how long you are outside the country (unless its over 330 and up to 90 somethingk in the USA). As a Brit, I think maybe it would work better in my case but I don't know for sure (income foreign sourced). More investigation needed. But maybe some feedback from the members here who have moved properly to Ukraine?

if you register yourself as private entrepreneur you may be able to pay 5% tax.

I really don't want to itemized my account and post it online. If you intend to get a visa D by starting a business I can point you in the right direction. It is understandable you are frustrated by the lack of clear information on the web but like I said before it is a multi step process with many variables. Its not my fault the Ukrainian government made it like this. Czech and Germany are easy, clear and concise. Ukraine is not like that. As far as handing over 100 dollar bills until you complete your project is pretty much normal in life for me. Sometimes you go over budget and sometimes you don't but if you sit around planning and pinching every penny you don't get anything done in the real world. Just my personal experience your mileage may vary. How many times have you accomplished things in your life where it was harder than or cost more than expected? For me it like that about every single time).

There are 3 million locals in Kiev. What kind did you associate with? You met a language exchange group at 2pm in a hipster coffee shop off Khreschatyk and they pulled butterfly knives? Chatted up a woman at the Opera House after a performance of Swan Lake and her oligarch bf sent his goons after you? Give us the low down.

For a bit more you can buy a Makarov or Zbrojovka handgun.

Surely more than a bit as 400 UAH is only £14 Angel

If Kiev now is a war zone...you have to bring your guns.

Aussies gave up all their guns. I heard somewhere you should pee on yourself to repulse the attacker.

RE: The Ukraine Thread III
Ukraine vs Russia..

Now have been to both countries... I wanted to give my my comparison between the two. I am mainly just comparing living standards, and the women.

Ukraine

Positives:

1. Cheap
2. Girl to Girl..Ukraine has hotter girls

Negatives

1. Undeveloped country, city looks like shit compared to Russia, everything runs better in Russia. Traffic is worse in Ukraine, even though city like Kiev is 4 times smaller, and the roads are full of potholes.
2. Foreigners are everywhere, competition from Europe, and of course the Turkish guys (who can forget about them)
3. Full of P4P in Kiev, and Odessa because of economic conditions. Everybody taking value versus providing value.

Russia

Positives

1. Much cleaner and better run city, Mayor of Moscow doing a great job, you see a lot of street cleaning, painting, overall maintenance being taken care of. Metro system is massive. Definitely has some western options that Ukraine does not have.
2. English levels are actually higher in Moscow and Saint Petersburg surprisingly, to almost conversational level.
3. More diverse range of girls, from the higher end to the lower end. Just has Ukraine beat in overall quantity of girls.
4. Huge selection of nightlife options, this is not even a close comparison to Ukraine when it comes to nightlife, Russia is hands down better.
5. Lot less foreign hordes of sex tourists from Europe and Turkey.

Negatives

1. Rent is expensive as hell in Moscow and Saint Petes during the summer, generally higher overall. Russia is cheap right now for everything else due to the high value of the US dollar.
2. Need a Visa if you're planning on staying long term it will be even more difficult.
3. Girl to Girl not as hot though as Ukraine.

One last thing, this can go either way, this depends on your age range of course. Age sensitivity is more of an issue in Russia. They are not as open minded about huge age gaps, so beware of this.

If I had to make one choice it would be for sure Russia, just less competition, more girls to work with, and Russia all three options of night, day, online game all work there.

RE: The Ukraine Thread III
I would agree

Russia seems like the better deal.

After spending a long time in Ukraine, it was nice to go to a country where not everyone wants to escape, the girls don't automatically consider you a sex tourist, and girls often have proper jobs.

Although there are budget flights to Russia, the requirement for a visa is one of the biggest advantages, although they are planning some liberalisation.

You can also spend time in Russia without that nagging feeling in your head that it's "ruined" like in Ukraine
