RE: The rise of Fat People.
On the great 1 to 10 scale, a 5 is borderline fuckable for me. Fatties automatically get a 4 and go down from there. No way in hell would I touch one of these beasts.

I've had no idea that fat shaming is working so well in France, I am very impressed with French people, probably for the first time in my life Dodgy

It's pathetic that Poland being Eastern/Central Europe country is much more "progressive" with fat allowance Angry

It's not so bad yet in Poland. The demographics do not allow for the women to grow into lard-balls. The ugly or fat ones are relegated to solitary existances, since there are still very few fat girls. But it is on the rise and I can see it with the youngest girls.

France and Italian indigenous girls are pretty thin especially in the big cities. It is not because of lack of "good" food - they usually keep thin until marriage. But it is no surprise because both cultures place great value on healthy and nutritious high-quality food, while making no excuses for being fat.

When I was in Poland, I noticed a fair few socially-accepted overweight girls. Not just a few pounds either.

France is awesome in terms of its anti-fat culture. Even my brother's feminist girlfriend (of French stock) is 100% against fat acceptance.

The things you own end up owning you.

You gotta love the French.

What disgusts me most of all is the celebration of fatties with them landing leading roles in tv shows and movies. I find it hard to be civil to fatties.

Also, the rise of fat people would be slow and full of farting and groaning.

RE: The rise of Fat People.
I work in at a large publicly traded weight loss company. After seeing tremendous growth through the 2000s, our sales have declined since 2012 or so and the industry as a whole is being hit hard. Execs are constantly theorizing about the causes in meetings - the economy, free apps like MyFitnessPal, trend away from processed food, etc. All important to consider, but there's an 800lb gorilla (pun intended) thats not being even hinted about - the fact that it's more socially acceptable to be fat now than it ever has been in history. I want to shout this from the rooftops, that maybe we need to consider that too. But I'd probably be booted for suggesting it. You know that's a sign of the times - when it's obvious fact that even discussing an important cultural trend (fat acceptance) that is directly relevant to the business, is unthinkable in a corporate setting.

So true.

Female role models went from Marilyn Monroe to Farah Fawcett to Madonna to Jennifer Aniston to…Lena Dunham.

Being fat, sloppy and obnoxious = girl power. And if you even roll your eyes, well, you're a misogynist!

Well said. Lena Dunham truly is an antichrist.

Look at this video, for example. I count seven women in the video. Only one of them is not obese.

In contrast try to find one obese person in this footage of NY streets from the 1960s and 70s:

Watching it in slow-mo helps - but I could not find one obese person (except for that one guy in the end, who is certainly overweight and on the verge of obesity). Barely saw some 60+ women who were overweight. I estimate that less than 1:100 young women or men were overweight by the time they were in their 20s.

Back then there was no HFCS, soft-drink and beer-cans were significantly smaller, chocolate bars were tiny compared to current size, basically everything was what is now called organic (except for some pesticides, but a lot less). Food was not a concoction of toxic-ingredients and MSG. All of it made people way less addicted to food.

RE: The rise of Fat People.
I lived in Vancouver for 7 years and it was a really thin city. Exercise culture is huge there and people spend a lot of time outside. I now live in Edmonton which has more of a red neck/oil culture. There's definitely a lot more fatties here.

I think part of the reason here in Edmonton is that women don't need to try as hard. There's a massive influx of dudes who work up north with mostly men; they tend to have lots of money and low standards.

If the company is weight watchers I think you may have a problem with your customer base changing their thinking re diet. I don't know the company in detail but suspect it's main customer base is middle class and upper middle class women. In this demographic, especially upper middle class, gluten-free and low carb theories are very popular. Whether they're right or wrong is almost irrelevant. They are very popular. Maybe shift to low carb diet plans, rather than simple calorie restricted ones, and try to get a gluten free range of prepared meals and you may see an uptick.

Any girl who thinks being fat doesn't affect he "SMV", or it doesn't matter because so many other girls are also fat is severely deluded and can't think properly. The fact that some guy somewhere will fuck her is meaningless, and gives her no information about her attractiveness. The level of guy who will be prepared to both fuck her, and have a LTR with her, increase stratosphericly when she moves from fat to slim. The only girls who can really be comfortable being fat in western cultures are a small group of certain types of lesbians. The rest have an incredible amount to gain from the fairly straightforward task of losing (or not gaining) weight. It's insanity that even one allows herself to become fat. Given the stakes.

Won't confirm or deny WW, but I will confirm that the customer base is middle/upper middle class white women. The low/carb /gluten thing has been incorporated pretty well into our offerings and marketing.

My theory is that to do a diet like the one we sell, which is perceived as expensive, you have to be pretty damn motivated. You are bombarded with ads and junk food from the media. If you have a social life with other women, most of your friends are going to push bad food on you. You have to be committed. Why be committed when there are fat acceptance stories/messages nearly every day in the media, constantly showing how fabulous you can be as a tacomaster.

I don't know what we can do about that but it should probably be discussed openly at my company as a relevant shift in society and marketplace. We won't be a corporate sponsor of fat shaming week anytime soon (trust me, I spend a million bucks a month on advertising and I'd love to throw some RoK's way!) but perhaps we could combat these forces at a different angle on the appeal to health (yes being fat actually kills you), or somehow cooperating with documentary makers "Fed Up" etc. To try to combat fat acceptance indirectly. But I'm not going to risk my job by even mentioning fat acceptance.

I've never understood why ww have never moved into the fitness market. All that marketing power and corporate money would just destroy every other group fitness thing going.

The American level of fatness is simply unacceptable and sickening. And it just seems to get worse each year. At least places like Mexico are taking strong actions to try to curb fatness and people know it is bad. However, in America feminazis are promoting this fat acceptance culture. The worst is seeing these American tourists abroad and they literally are three times of size of a typical Asian person. They literally are killing themselves eating so much but you cannot call them out on it. It's a demented situation where the food industry controls all.

It's a lethal triple threat in our society - fat acceptance + food industry marketing + industrial food lobby/gov't handouts for corn, soy, wheat
