I love my light box so much. Now that I'm self employed, it's easy to want to sleep in everyday. Thanks to my light box, I wake up at 6:30 on the dot every day, feeling strong and motivated to own the day.

I know I've posted in here before about my love for the light box, but years later it's still foundational to my life.

Hey guys,

I noticed last week when the sun began to set at an earlier time that I wasn't sleeping very deep nor feeling rested in the morning. I usually get a full 8 hours but waking up became a monumental task. I was becoming friends with the snooze button which... is not productive.

So I pulled out the ole light box... I have the sunbox jr... white light - 10,000.

Upon waking I have my coffee and either read the paper, my laptop, or my kindle. I place whichever i'm reading across the light stream (as in looking through the light; not directly into it).

The issue I had before and realized I had again today (first day of use - this fall) is that after 20-25 minutes... when I'm walking around I feel a bit dizzy or spatially unaware.

I also notice that my thoughts are a bit more cloudy... I normally have a silver tongue and quick wit... but after a date with the sunlamp I feel borderline autistic in that I can't find words and I feel... just off.

Has anyone else noticed this?... Perhaps I should go down to 10-15 minutes but TLOZ has mentioned that to get the full affect it should be 20+.

I love the fact that it gets me going and helps me get to sleep at a decent hour.... but the feeling during the day is a big drawback.

Any suggestions?

Cruisen_Chubby, you may be experiencing hormonal changes in response to the bright light therapy. I would suggest you stick it out and see how things are in a couple of weeks; it's pretty likely that the side effects you are describing will go away and you will find yourself feeling sharper than before throughout the day. Give it some time and reevaluate.

Was having these epic struggles for the last few months with waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to get back to sleep. Some days I’d just go to the office at 5am and just have the shittiest days with bad focus. I did bright light therapy but it didn’t seem to help. I started taking some supplements at bedtime and WOW did my sleep ever improve. Lizard my man what are your thoughts on these, they have been a total Game Changer for me:

Have you tried experimenting with not taking each of the supplements to isolate the effects? Or do you know all are impactful?

My impression: Magnesium is a total game changer, if you're deficient(from what I read, 80% of people are), it's critical to fix that. It's one of the most important minerals. I imagine without it, you'd have a whole host of health issues related to magnesium deficiency. Melatonin is also powerful too, so if you need it to fix your cycle it's pretty helpful.

I don't know about the other two.
