I used to love "Method of Modern Love" by Hall and Oates. Thanks for posting that. Reminded me of this song by Grace Jones, 1986 -

Edit: this video is incredible. Made in 86? Wow.

I still have no idea what to make of Grace Jones.

I've tried listening to other Grace Jones, I find it pretty bad. I think "Slave to the Rhythm" was ALL Trevor Horn ( producer ), it's so brilliant.

I remember liking this tune by the Talking Heads also - 80's hipster tune: ( there other stuff wasn't very interesting to me however )

Obligatory. Not from the 80's, but it should be... with honorary timewarp merit:

Here is a nice little mix of more dancey 80s sounding stuff, a little 90a in there at times though

Do you guys remember what a big part of the 80's Far Side cartoons were? In every newspaper, taped to walls, refrigerators, desks, people had the calendars and the mugs and the shirts.

^^ Yes. And they were brilliant. A popular gift was the tear off calendar of 365 far side cartoons.

There's one I can't find on the internet that is in my opinion the best one.

Two llamas are pointing at another llama and the caption says "Llook Lloyd, it's Llarry"

Aloha!

If you like him, there was an artist in the 70's named Kliban that he owes a lot to. Kind of like the relationship between Seinfeld and Larry David.

This site has a bunch of Kliban cartoons. If you are a Far Side fan, the humor style will seem familiar.

Do you guys remember when the band "Yes" reminded everyone they still had some life in them when they released this song in 83?

RE: 80s thread, best of the 80s
I stumbled across these guys a year ago. A French band called 'Rockets', formed in 1974, who had a number of hits in Continental Europe, using their unique image of space robot/aliens and trippy space rock/disco. They influenced many bands long after their breakup like Daft Punk and Kiss.

This song is a catchy tune off their 1980 album Galaxy. This was when they hit their peak.

Long story short, they imploded a couple of years later just when they were on the verge of hitting the big time.

Nina Hagen. Classically trained singer from East Germany (the communist days), who later defected to the West and became an art rock/punk icon. And with that voice, I can’t imagine why...
