So Bethesda was being asinine at gamescom and did not show any fallout 4 footage to the public, only closed door stuff. Someone was able to stealthily record some game play footage of it at the closed door event. Enjoy fellow red pill gamers.

I'm afraid playing the beta before the actual release will ruin my anticipation for the game.

Plus it's like, my stats and rank from the beta won't carry over, so what's the point?

A beta is like an appetizer. Should I waste my appetite over warm rolls or wait for the giant steak?

Man that really looked just like Fallout 3, like the big store down from Megaton. Parts were exactly the same, you can turn on the security bot to fight for you... I'm pumped for Fallout 4 and I will get it an enjoy it regardless. I hope its not just Fallout3.5 with better graphics though.

I doubt I play the Beta just because of lack of storage space on my HD to download it. The beta could be dope and then after its over you will be jonesing for your BLOPs fix for a few months. Or you could play it and think it sucks and have you questioning life in general.
I think I would just wait until the games release... although if you do play the MP beta you will have a little head start on a map or two and knowing what weapons and tricks you can use when the game releases.... life is full of difficult decisions my friend .

RE: Video games
Just recently I've been messing around with 'Kerbal Space Program', and I'm having lots of fun with it.
I downloaded it sometime last year, and just now spotted it on an extra hard drive, and decided to try it out.
Basically, you build some sort of space craft (rocket or space plane) and launch it into space. Easy, right?
Well, not really.
Took me a while to figure out what parts did what, how much stress broke certain parts, then longer to successfully even reach an orbital altitude. Then it took even longer to figure out how to get in an actual orbit and stay there. There are some tutorials, but my version only had 4, and they didn't cover all that much. The orbital one showed you how to maneuver once in orbit, but not how to actually get there, so it took a while to get the periapsis and apoapsis both leveled for a nice circular orbit.

Main reason I'm posting this is because I finally landed some kerbals on the moon, and it felt great after trying for so long. Now I need to make another rocket to go rescue them, cause I broke the lander when I got there. Oh, and forgot to build a way for them to return.

RE: Video games
So I've been playing the Black Ops 3 beta.

It's pretty good, though I think I may just pass on it if none of my friends end up getting it. That's what makes Call of Duty so fun: playing with other people you know.

I wonder if I can cancel a digital pre-order at any time and get a full refund.

Played it for a couple hours and not going to get it. Prob going to get Halo 5 instead. I prefer the multiplayer in Halo as opposed to CoD. It's more team based I've found. Plus the campaign looks like it's going to be pretty sick.

I'm also going to be getting Halo 5 when it is released - might preorder it. I've been a huge fan of Halo since it was released, and I've enjoyed growing up with the campaign and multiplayer.

Will be interesting to see where 343i take the campaign with respect to the conflict between Master Chief and Spartan Locke.

In the meantime, I've downloaded Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and am waiting for it to install

Weird, I was just going to come back to this thread and say that I, also, am thinking of getting Halo 5 instead.

I've been into Halo since the first one. It's always been my go-to shooter. I haven't been paying any attention to its new developments within the past few months, so all I can say is that I hope it feels like Halo. What put me off in the past was when I saw how similar to Call of Duty it looked. That's what I decided that I may end my streak of buying every Halo game. Halo is Halo, not Call of Duty.

We'll see how it turns out. If anyone wants to add me to play in the future, send me a PM.

I still can't decide whether to get it or not. I usually love open world games, but I find that I lack the patience for stealth games (I did get reasonably far in MGS4 on the PS3 though, but my gaming tastes have narrowed a bit since then).

Based on preview gameplay I had seen of MGS5 it seemed like stealth would in most cases just be one of several viable options (with full frontal assault and various middle ground offense/stealth being shown in some videos), but some of the reviews I've read makes it sound like you pretty much have to be stealthy the majority of the time or alarms will be raised and you'll have enemy reinforcement coming in from all over the map.

And one reviewer even mentioned a few missions where being detected meant instant failure, and he had to retry one mission countless times.

I downloaded MGS Ground Zeroes around a month ago. Last thing I did was getting sufficiently annoyed by being discovered a few times that I never felt the inclination to start the game up again.

Mad Max reviews aren't out yet but if they are fairly favourable I will probably be very tempted to buy that game instead of MGS5 when they are both released on Tuesday.

RE: Video games
Tough choice between MGS5 or Mad Max. I still don't get why WB Games thought it would be a good idea to release on the same day as a juggernaut like MGS5.
I pulled the trigger on Mad Max (PS4 version starts preloading soon and is playable in 17 hours) - looks like a hell of a lot of fun while there's a high chance that MGS5 will just stress me out with its focus on stealth and patience.

RE: Video games
I played video games a lot for a long time… even found my career playing them (long story). Now I play them maybe 3 hours a week tops.

The thing about video games is, they're a swiz - you think you are getting something out of them when they are really taking from you. You get good at an FPS on a competitive level or level up your character in an MMORPG, but when you turn off the game, all those accomplishments disappear into the ether.

Level up in real life.

That said, video games are still fun when played sparingly.

Yeah, but more for Mad Max. I brought mad max on pc but refuse to buy MGS5.. i'll just pirate it. Because I read there is microtransactions and also people who brought the disc version found out that all there is on the disc is a 9mb installer.. dodgy cunts. So I refuse to support the company.

Okay, I've just finished the campaign (gonna leave venturing onto online for another day when I'm not so tired).

- The game plays like it used to, and feels like it used to. There are some elements in the campaign that have been brought over from Gears 3 to improve gameplay which work. The graphics are pretty darn good, and you can really tell the difference in the cutscenes. Some (if not all) characters look visibly different from their 360 counter-parts, especially Colonel Hoffman, Kim and Baird.

- Having said this, the game has some flaws, one being that only Gears 1 is remastered. I bought the Deluxe Edition for £44.99 and felt that I got more for my money from the Halo MCC which had 4 (now 5) games for the same price. On the other hand, I've now got loads of customizable options for online play as well as a whole new chapter of story mode that the 360 version never had (to tie the story over between Act IV and Act V), although perhaps purchasing the £27.99 version of the game would have been better in hindsight.

- I did notice a drop in frames during one cutscene

- The AI for Dom on Hardcore difficulty is horrible! Seriously, I know the guy feels down because of what happened to his wife, but there is no need to continuously run into action gun-ho just to get downed all the time. I spent more time dying trying to revive Dom than I did without. It wouldn't help that he'd usually be on the other side of an arena either.

Overall, I enjoyed the game and it really gave a sense of nostalgia. However, I feel that, unless you play a lot of online and really want the extra chapter of gameplay, that maybe it's worth getting the Ultimate Edition and not the Ultimate Edition Deluxe

RE: Video games
I'm having a blast with Mad Max. Borrowing liberally from other games, sure - and the mission types will probably get repetitive at some point. But it's hell of a lot of fun and the huge desert wasteland is surprisingly varied and beautiful.

Temptation got the better of me so I also bought MGS5. Going back to Mad Max to relax now after completely messing up my stealthy approach on the first MGS5 mission after the long prologue. I predict the latter game is going to cause a lot of swearing at my place in the coming days.

No more new games for me until Fallout 4 in November I think.
