Temptation got the better of me so I also bought MGS5. Going back to Mad Max to relax now after completely messing up my stealthy approach on the first MGS5 mission after the long prologue. I predict the latter game is going to cause a lot of swearing at my place in the coming days.

No more new games for me until Fallout 4 in November I think.

Nice. Headed to grab MGS5 in a bit. That and Dying Light are enough for me for now. Until Halo 5 comes out. Between work, changing careers, more school, my chick and chill time to play some games, my plate is plenty full.

I'm just gonna leave this here. Apparently PBS game channel is run by hipster, SJW, faggots. Not surprising. This dude Fringy, hilariously, breaks it down.

RE: Video games
Halo 5 comes out in a month and two days from now.

I haven't been overly excited about it because all we've been getting since E3 is gameplay of Warzone, that new giant game mode that looks okay.

But today some videos were released showcasing its 4v4 arena multiplayer, and it looks so fun. Classic Halo but also with changes. Good changes.

They have this new gamemode called Breakout that I'm very excited about. It's similar to Search and Destroy in Call of Duty.

Throw some headphones on and listen to the detail in every sound effect. It's ear candy.

Now recruiting for a 4-man RVF Halo 5 crew. Requirements:
1.) Be a fun guy.
2.) Have a microphone.
3.) Don't take the game too seriously; we're not a "clan", we're a crew.
4.) You don't talk about RVF.
5.) You can talk about RVF.
6.) There really are no requirements, but 1-3 are nice. Smile

I'm game - count me in (UK time-zone though, don't know if that's an added requirement)

RE: Video games
In my teen socially-awkward years I played thousands of hours. Nowadays, few games catch my eye, such as few FPSs (Stalker:Shadow of Chernobyl, Crysis, FarCry 3) or RTSs (Age Of Empires 2, Command and Conquer).

After wasting so much time in my teenage years, I consciously know I should invest more of my time in improving myself rather than burning it in a game. But nonetheless, some games are quite good to keep one's mind sharp.

I find that these days the games that stay longest on my console/PC are the ones that put me in a near meditative but highly alert state with little or no thinking involved.
The main genres being racing games (DriveClub on the PS4 has remained my primary go to racing game for months) and first person shooters (started playing Destiny recently. I had read a lot of criticism of it prior to the latest expansion - I bought the full package with everything - but the shooting mechanics and "feel" of the game are certainly very good. I also sometimes enjoy PvP focused shooters like Battlefield but playing against other players is far more stressful than "meditative").

I'm a big fan of the Far Cry series, Far Cry 3 might be my favorite but I enjoyed all the console games..... not sure about this one though, a FPS without guns is like a cheeseburger without cheese.... its just a hamburger.

Pre-ordered the Limited Edition of the game, and going to the midnight launch on the 26th.
Don't have to be in uni until 11am the next day so will spend the morning downloading and probably playing the heck out of it

Anyone know if companies started to cut back on the micro transactions and unnecessary DLC's?

I understand they want to make some extra coin but recently I've been seeing reviews of basically half finished games like Destiny.

I bought Far Cry 4 on the Xbox summer sale and it was certainly worth a play through... Yes the main villain was gay, But the his character was very well written and voice acted and he made a memorable villain. So I'm glad I didn't boycott the game because of that.

If you are a fan of Far Cry don't sleep on 4.

I don't think he was gay flamboyant yes, but it was explained that he had an affair with the protagonist mother.

You're probably right... I just remember people on the forum (maybe in the gamer gate thread) going off cause SJW's had ruined Far Cry 4 and the main villain was gay and they were not going to pay to support that game. An for maybe 3 minutes I was like "Yea fuck Far Cry 4" Then after the third minute passed I was like "I'm still gonna play it doe" and I did, and it was glorious.

I'm enjoying Destiny at the moment. Played it briefly a few months ago and then put it on hold until the The Taken King expansion was released last month.
As with all games - even the ones like Destiny or Diablo 3 or assorted MMOs that keep some players playing for months or years thanks to loot and assorted multiplayer mechanics - I'm sure I'll get bored in another month or two at the most, but it will have been good entertainment for the money.

As far as ridiculous DLC goes, no, it's getting increasingly worse from some of the major publishers, in some cases being almost as ridiculous as what you see in many mobile games.
Most recent example is the latest update to Metal Gear Solid 5, which - asides from laughable horse armor DLC (could be a joke playing on the original 2006 DLC debacle of horse armor in Elder Scrolls Oblivion, but I'm kind of getting the impression that Konami are not that clever and are playing this one with a straight face) - features the option to buy in-game insurance, with real money of course, to cover the theft of resources that other players can take from you in the base multiplayer mode.

I'm fine with DLC when it feels like genuine, valuable content that was created for the game after it was released (best value for money in recent years for me has been the DriveClub season pass, which - primarily - added a ton of additional cars).
Or purely cosmetic items as is common in some MMORPGs.
But what Konami is doing with MGS5 is just ridiculous.

I love civ 5, I usually play against the AI though if I have the time, its a huge time sink. Its perfect for long flights tho.

I too follow the fallout series, my favorite one being New Vegas. Fallout 4 looks great!
