Yes I sunk a huge number of hours into gwent but no cash, they are pretty good about giving daily in game loot for playing a few matches. I will likely pick up a ps4 pro and god of war, and later this year red dead. The cyberpunk game from cdpr will hopefully be amazing as well.

RE: Video games
Noooooooooo!!!!!!

Quote:In 2015, culture critic Tauriq Moosa wrote an article for Polygon discussing race issues in games, and brought up the fact that in The Witcher 3, “all humans are white and every other being is non-human.” He went on to say “That’s not exactly friendly or inclusive of people of color. A game can include a diverse variety of monsters, but not a diverse variety of skin colors or races for humans?” Witcher fans took umbrage to this criticism, as the games and books have become a symbol of Polish heritage and pride. Hissrich’s recent tweet ignited a similar discussion about diversity within The Witcher because of how noticeably diverse the writer’s room was.

“I will not deviate from the books’ races and cultures, which means I WILL include minorities,” she said to one fan. “People saw the writers’ room picture I tweeted and railed ‘Why so diverse?! Why no Europeans?!’ … the staff includes someone who was born in Europe, someone else who’s spent half her life in Central Europe, and someone whose family is Polish. But no one actually asked that — they simply took note of skin color and assumed I was filling quotas.” She went on to say that the author of the Witcher books, Andrzej Sapkowski, told her himself that recognizing the diversity in her show would be honoring his intentions as a writer.

If this bitch ruins the Witcher....

Basically her quote "I'm not changing anything but I will change whatever I want to kinda following the books and games spirit."

There was zero chance anything 100% white was going to make it onto any mainstream form of media. Not in current year where every single commercial now has a mandatory black woman with that big hair. Besides, it's based on a videogame so it will suck almost by default. Guaranteed after that SJW nonsense from the writer.

Saw a little bit of the new Pillars of Eternity and wow the writing is so damn try-hard, so much flowery wording and ridiculously obscure words. Like, every single line of dialogue comes with adjective filled description about how it's said. Whatever, isometric rpg aren't my type of game anyway. Lore looks boring as fuck honestly.

No idea when the next good strategy game is gonna come out. Total war is so..lukewarm for me. I'll probably give the warhammer ones a try eventually. It's too bad Paradox is SJW-ing their published games like Battletech. Fucking 3rd adjective my ass.

RE: Video games
It's bizarre that even when you build a historic or fantasy setting you have to cater to racial quotas or get grief.

I want a remake of every film ever set in Africa were every fifth townsperson, leader or militia warrior is white. I also want a remake of Cameron's Avatar where a reasonable proportion of the blue freaks speak with English accents instead of African ones.

Maybe then people would get an idea of just how fucking stupid it is.

Funny thing is, whatever they made that series into, I must watch it. Witcher universe is second most interesting one to me after a world of ice and fire one (not game of thrones TV universe!). Regarding games, I am still witcher 3 virgin, I am saving myself for some time in the autumn to start it even though I have already installed it together with its two expansions.

Are you referring to the British Isles one? Nah, the setting doesn't really interest me right now. Is it any good?

I mean really the only non RTS strategy game options around are Paradox games and Total War games. I wish a new developer would emerge and make something fresh.

RE: Video games
Guys, this may be a bit old, but is "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" worth playing?

Considering the fact that MGS4 essentially concluded the storyline for everyone, and was quite beautiful.

I've heard MGS V continues from Peace Walker. I played Peace Walker on PS3 and it was by standards of any other game excellent, but fell short in that it lacked "horror" elements of storyline and bosses, it had comic strips where I feel it should have been fully animated in 3D as all other MGS games, and the storyline could have been so much better with the premise of nukes of the USA vs nukes of FSU in LATAM. There is also the odd condition of reaching the final chapter only if you complete certain extra Ops missions, which becomes annoying. On the plus side, there are tons of weapons, the whole mother base idea is cool although tedious at times, and some of the AI bosses are difficult to say the least. Peace Walker was a good MGS "side dish" which was adapted well for the PS3, but I'm wondering if it's best just to leave it at MGS4, where it's supposed to end.

RE: Video games
I'm considering buying the old version of Skyrim on Steam. Someone talk me down.

I played it on Playstation and got sort of sick of it due to my OCD gaming habits that I've mostly kicked. I never came close to finishing the game. I just twinked blacksmith/enchant until I was virtually killing dragons in one bow shot.

Apparently there's a lot of mods for the PC version (yes, I've been living under a rock) and in particular the UI can be improved which was one of the reasons I never really got into the console version. The UI when paired with a controller was dogshit.

Visit the Nexus, see if the mods talk to you or not.
Playing Skyrim with mods is a totally different experience (a much better one).

Holy crap. There's a lot of stuff. At least there's a fix for the UI, game bugs and the shitty base spell list. Other than that it's hard to know where to start Huh

It really depends what you're looking for.

Here's a quick list of some good mods, in random order :
(Keep in mind that I personnaly used more than 200 mods during my last playthrough, so this list is very limited.)

- Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim
Overhauls the perk trees of Skyrim, replacing them with ~400 new perks to improve the depth and fun of building and playing your character. It accomplishes this in a lightweight, compatible and clean fashion.
In vanilla, each new perk is basically a "deal +X% damage" / "resist +X%" / "craft +X% better".
This overhaul does a wonderful job in making each perk useful and sometimes game changing.

- DIMONIZED UNP female body
Sexy naked women, no underwear (very important mod indeed).

- Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival
Frostfall is a survival-style mod that adds cold weather survival gameplay elements to Skyrim.
You now have to care about your body temperature, must have for me.

- iNeed - Food Water and Sleep
You need to eat, drink and sleep to stay alive.

- Deadly Dragons
Customizable health & damage variables, new dragon types, and widely compatible. Makes dragons true monsters to fear.

- Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade
The primary intention of this mod is to correct logical inconsistencies in the vanilla smithing system and to enhance the functionality and balance of crafting in Skyrim.

- Duel - Combat Realism
Enhances enemies A.I., implement a new stagger system based on fight context (armor types, weapon types, health, stamina, ...), enhance stealth, enhance archery, enhance blocking with a shield or weapon, enhance group A.I. and a couple of other useful tweaks that will add to the fights.

- Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch
Corrects hundreds of bugs, don't play without.

I'd also advise you to look at mod showcase channels, like Brodual.
They show the best mods in action, very usefull to decide wether you need them or not.

I agree with Latan, mods that make women 5's into at least 8's are very important for the gameplay.

There are some mods that make potions weigh nothing and whatnot. The mabeline mod improves wonens faces dramatically. A few others if I thought about it, it’s been years since I played Skyrim but it’s one of the beat games ever made

Any thoughts on the latest State of Decay 2? I have mixed feelings about it. Not too much innovation in the game other than co-op (a tethered one that is). Yet again theres the saying "if it ain't broken, don't fix it -- aka just polish it"

I've only played a couple of hours, so take this with a grain of salt.

I loved MGS3. And the two before it. Great stories, fun gameplay.

I heard so much about MGSV, but especially how the story lacks, but the gameplay supposedly makes up for it. It looked cool, so I got it on sale.

Problem is, it's one of those games you need to make a massive time commitment. So I've only got a couple of serious tries in playing it.

My first time breaking into a base to save someone was epic. Sneaking around, tranquilizing, knocking people out. Running out with the target and putting him in a helicopter, mission complete.

The second time I played I actually rushed it more than usual, because I had to turn off the game in 20 minutes. So, I took a more confrontational approach. Decided to shoot people, silenced.

Still it attracted attention, so the mission was no longer about planning, but acting out the moment. It was pure adrenaline. But at the same time, it was super easy. Despite having alarms going off and tons of guys coming at me, I didn't struggle to survive, one bit at all. I killed them all with ease.

Again, it's early in the game. But I feel like the mechanics of it make it challenging only if you play the traditional way.

But what if you decide to go in guns blazing? What sort of resistance can you expect? Something weak?

Can anyone else that's played the game tell me if it gets hard as you progress or no. Because from my searching the game gets easier as you go.

From where you are, there are some easy parts of the game, and some hard parts (very helpful, right?). A lot of the later missions are just the earlier missions, but made harder in some way.

I loved the entire Metal Gear Solid series, right up until MGS 5.

The thing that irked me the most was that, in all the previous games, you were massively rewarded for getting through sometimes tedious stealth gameplay. The plotlines were always wild and intoxicating, with addictive twists as you got closer and closer to the end. The cinematic cutscenes had better action than any movie. The Boss' death in MGS3 was pure art, compelling and poetical.

With MGS 5, there simply is no payoff. Production was cut short, so large parts of the plot were cut out, and it really shows. The main villain makes no sense, and you get no satisfaction from defeating him. Other intriguing plot points are left completely unresolved. Characters exit and arrive basically at random.

When it was over, I sighed, feeling a familiar sense of adult disappointment wash over me. The previous games let me feel like a kid.
