Agreeing with a statement that suggests equality, such as “women shouldn’t necessarily be rescued before men during a disaster”, displays less of a tendency towards benevolent sexism.

No matter how the women acted, men were more likely to show patience and friendly non-verbal cues the more highly they rated on the benevolent sexism scale.

So basically, irrespective of how the women acted, some men were rigidly tethered to their preconceived ideas about the fairer sex.

Quote:The men who registered a higher level of benevolent sexism also used more positive emotional words and were more patient while waiting for a woman to answer trivia questions. Researchers felt such behaviour serves to reinforce the paradigm of women as the more feeble sex.

“It’s a very paternalistic, protective view of women, and it seems kind of appealing as a sort of chivalry,” Mr Goh said. “But it does contribute to inequality, because these men don’t expect women to achieve high goals.”

You know, it really says a lot about our civilization that we're allocating resources for stupid bullshit like this. I wonder how historians will look back on this time 500 years from now. Hopefully they'll think of this as being as ridiculous as we think of epicycles now. It's quite obvious that retards like this are not useful in any real societal function (you can tell just by looking at him) so we need to sponsor them for this shit.

Yeah, universal suffrage was the first big trend in that direction.

Now social media is empowering the mob of idiots like never before. In fact it's a reverse trend, since those who deserve the least respect are now getting the most because of social media. It is absolutely no coincidence that the 2010's social justice warrior phenomenon arose at the same time that social media did.

Nothing changed really to the past. Your vote mattered about as much as much power you had - financial and otherwise. Only with power came a voice - and even more power was necessary to carry your voice into the centuries, as writings have been changed completely after death by those who wished to use the words for their power gains.

Civilizations came and went and most people were forgotten. In the end it all matters little in the grand scheme of things. The useful, the wise and the beautiful words and deeds are on the same level as the vile, stupid and useless ones. They are experiences for the beings living within this world.
