I have to wonder if psychiatric drugs, ritalin, and adderall have an effect on this.

Probably, but I would also bet that nutrition played a big part into it. How well you eat, especially while young, plays a big role into IQ and brain development. The 80s and 90s seem to be when parent stopped cooking home meals and started telling their kid to microwave a frozen dinner or if you got lucky maybe your mom made some mac n' cheese or hamburger helper from time to time. Home cooked breakfasts before school got replaced with Mcdonald's drive through on the way to school. A home packed meal got replaced with lunchables. And so on.

In my opinion what has changed drastically within the last 2 decades was nutrition - by far more toxic with lack of nutrients, drugging of children (Ritalin - impacts brain development for sure) as well as vaccines. Now even assuming that for the sake of argument that vaccines WORK exactly as the pharma industry says they do, then there is no denying that you have highly toxic elements like aluminum or thimoseral in all or most of them. Even if they do work 100% as advertised, then the toxic load is with near certainty having some impact on children:

[Image: vaccinations-poster-by-Proud-Parents-of-...ldren2.jpg]

There is a new documentary out done by conventional MDs called TRACE AMOUNTS covering this very topic:

Those doctors are actually even pro-vaccination, but they just acknowledge the problem with the toxic additives which in accumulation have an ever greater effect. Their impact is not so dramatic if you have the vaccine schedule of the 1980s, but 2015 is a completely different story. Worldwide the number of vaccines has exploded around 1990-95. Even if assuming that all vaccines work perfectly as advertised and you are pro-vaccines, then it should give you room for thought, why so many even high-level doctors question the current medical policies.

BTW - I will not respond to the vaccine lobby proponents here that suddenly pounce on everyone here questioning their holy grail. We can quote studies and opinions of MDs against each other until kingdom come.

In any case - that is why IQs are dropping mostly in the recent 2 decades. The new technologies which produce a scatter-brained population that cannot concentrate properly - well that certainly contributes to incompetence as well. In a few decades most people will probably lack the concentration ability to read a book being unable to focus properly for extended periods.

That is really interesting about the Amish. One thing though, not to get off on too much of a tangent, that I wonder about is the age of the mother in Amish communities. Autism and other behavior disorders are far more likely in women who have children in their 30s. I would doubt that there are that many Amish women having children that late in life.

Women these days think they can shop for a man like they shop for a purse or a pair of shoes. Sorry ladies. It doesn't work that way.

Women are like sandwiches. All men love sandwiches. That's a given. But sandwiches are only good when they're fresh. Nobody wants a day old sandwich. The bread is all soggy and the meat is spoiled.

If you watch that show Amish Mafia, and I do religiously, they went over how the Amish have a kind of "gene pool drain" issue of people too closely related marrying and having children. I would also be suspicious of anything they say because they are a mostly closed society. How would they really know what Autism looks like? Aspergers Syndrome even?

Also on that show they had an episode where essentially they put "people with defects" in this house to live, separate from the rest of the Amish community. The ones they showed on camera had physical deformities and mental retardation. There is a good chance there was someone in that house with Autism.

If someone wanted to check Autism against people that do not vaccinate, they should find a different control group than Amish people. They are always saving face for something going on in their own community. They don't have the right credibility for this.

I'm not sure how much that issue has to do with IQs and healthy personalities, but I definitely agree with Zelcorpion. I acknowledge and support the positive effects of many vaccines like Smallpox, Polio or DiTePer, but mass vaccinations for flu, bird flu, swine flu and whatever crap is currently making headlines is pure bullshit. The danger from these diseases is so low that it's incredibly reckless to be taunting the immune system like that (not to mention that it doesn't work, as there are so many variants of these viruses). And that is ignoring the elephant in the room - extreme corruption and shady profit motives, where a bunch of untested and expensive vaccines are suddenly pushed into circulation for no reason at all other than to enrich some big company.

One of the things about Millenials that I always found fascinating was their narcissism.

Just a small quote go to articles for the complete article.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/fre...-americans

Quote:For the past three decades or a little more, researchers have been assessing both narcissism and empathy using questionnaires developed in the late 1970s. The questionnaire designed to assess narcissism is the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI). If you want to see what it’s like, and even test yourself on it, you can find it here (link is external). The questionnaire designed to assess empathy is the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, which you can find here (link is external). As you can see, if you do check these links, the questions are pretty transparent. If you wanted to, you could easily fake yourself as low in narcissism and high in empathy, or the reverse. However, most people (even those high in narcissism) apparently answer pretty honestly and accurately. Many research studies have shown that scores on these questionnaires correlate reliably with real-world behavior and with other people’s ratings of the individuals. For example, those who score high in narcissism have been found to overrate their own abilities, to lash out angrily in response to criticism, and to commit white-collar crimes at higher rates than the general population.[1] Those who score low in empathy are more likely than the average person to engage in bullying and less likely to volunteer to help people in need.[2.]

Over the years, these questionnaires have been administered to many samples of college students, and analyses that bring all of the data together reveal that the average narcissism score has been steadily increasing and the average empathy score has been steadily decreasing ever since the questionnaires were developed [3.] The changes are highly significant statistically and sufficiently large that approximately 70 percent of students today score higher on narcissism and lower on empathy than did the average student thirty years ago.

Seems like narcissim can be highly linked to the economic conditions that existed while they were growing up. Of course, they will blame their parents for making the economy too good for them while they were growing up. Can't win either way.

Just a small quote go to articles for the complete article.
Quote:When people enter young adulthood during times of economic hardship they tend to be less narcissistic later in life than people who come of age when the economy is strong.

That’s the finding from a fascinating study published this month in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

“Whereas previous research has shown that parental behavior during childhood predicts later narcissism, the present findings suggest that macroenvironmental conditions play a similar role at a later stage of development,” writes Emily Bianchi, the study’s author and an assistant professor of organization and management at Emory University in Atlanta.

Narcissists are defined in the study as people who “regard themselves as superior to other people and believe that they are entitled to good outcomes, excessive admiration, and unyielding praise.”

I don't necessarily agree with the last quote of the second article.
Quote:“Thus, growing narcissism among American college students over this period may reflect a long stretch of rising prosperity,” she adds. “If so, then the Great Recession may knock this upward trajectory off course.”
