Bernie Sanders on immigration: http://www.vox.com/2015/7/28/9014491/ber...nversation
Quote:Ezra Klein: You said being a democratic socialist means a more international view. I think if you take global poverty that seriously, it leads you to conclusions that in the US are considered out of political bounds. Things like sharply raising the level of immigration we permit, even up to a level of open borders. About sharply increasing …

Bernie Sanders: Open borders? No, that’s a Koch brothers proposal.

Ezra Klein: Really?

Bernie Sanders: Of course. That’s a right-wing proposal, which says essentially there is no United States. …

Ezra Klein: But it would make …

Bernie Sanders: Excuse me …

Ezra Klein: It would make a lot of global poor richer, wouldn’t it?

Bernie Sanders: It would make everybody in America poorer —you’re doing away with the concept of a nation state, and I don’t think there’s any country in the world that believes in that. If you believe in a nation state or in a country called the United States or UK or Denmark or any other country, you have an obligation in my view to do everything we can to help poor people. What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. I don’t believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country, I think we have to do everything we can to create millions of jobs.

You know what youth unemployment is in the United States of America today? If you’re a white high school graduate, it’s 33 percent, Hispanic 36 percent, African American 51 percent. You think we should open the borders and bring in a lot of low-wage workers, or do you think maybe we should try to get jobs for those kids?

I think from a moral responsibility we’ve got to work with the rest of the industrialized world to address the problems of international poverty, but you don’t do that by making people in this country even poorer.

Sanders is no raving SJW.

Edit: just for fun, adding my favorite Sanders video:

If the 20th century has taught us anything, it's that Marxist Jews bring the maximum amount of prosperity, peace, health, freedom, and happiness to their respective host nations.

Honestly, what don't you bitter clingers understand about that? Perhaps you are in need of some psychiatric assistance or re-education or something. Oy vey!

Anyway, everything will be better for the 99% when we put Bernie in the White House. Anyone who disagrees is obviously a fascist, racist, sexist, xenophobic, anti-semite, white supremacist who wants to kill six million jews in an giant gas chamber paid for by the Koch brothers.

P.S. You didn't build that.

P.P.S. We are going to need to raise your taxes.

I’d rather be far right, than far wrong!

Chagateav,

Sanders has been in the Senate a long time. Can you link to the anti-immigration bills he supported or sponsored?

*crickets*

Bernie is talking like this to win the nomination from Hillary. Sanders is an open borders socialists who hates the American founders and the principles they stood for. That's what I think anyway.

Also, what is this bs about the right not addressing the banks? It's been the right, and only the right, starting with Ron Paul, who have been hammering the Federal Reserve system for their crony bailout balony, the Tea Party's main issue was the bailouts for crying out loud.

It was only after the democrats realized that the banks were supremely hated that Warren gave some token resistance to Yellen at some b.s. Fed hearings that don't amount to anything where the head of the Fed comes to congress and tells them screw off with even thinking about auditing us, then Yellen basically says private banks control the Fed, and we control you, and walks out.

The grassroots right talks incessantly about corporate cronyism, bank bailouts, and the military industrial complex.

It's a moot point though because Sanders won't win. Even if he wins the primary he will be demolished by Trump.

People who think Trump is guaranteed a win need to peer out of the right wing eco chamber. No candidate will be rubber stamped for success.

Also, those who rally behind Trump because they believe he'll reinstate some sort of 1890s type of racial caste system will be sorely disappointed. He'll probably tighten the border a bit at most.

I'm not rallying around Trump because I think he'll create a racial caste system. I'm actually a little late compared to others on this forum to support Trump, if you read through the Trump thread I don't post till about 30 pages in.

I'm rallying around Trump because a nation without borders isn't a nation.

America is a multi-racial country and has been since it's founding. But we are a country. And a country has borders. And the people coming here from Mexico, there first allegiance is to Mexico, for the most part.

But those Hispanics who are Mexican-American, and support America's interests first, are the thirty percent of Hispanics who support Trump and understand that America needs a border to compete with our competitors who enact tariffs, and protect their borders, and look out for their citizens first.

No one on this forum have talked about a 'racial caste' system but you. You are race trolling.

Au contraire. I'm just noticing the blogs who lean heavy on the WN talking points are putting lots of faith in Trump. They'll be solely disappointed if they think Trump is about that. I also quite like him, America does need a political shakeup.

I find it interesting that Bernie's rhetoric is somewhat nationalistic and socialistic.

His criticism of the cuckservative right's corporate interests wanting cheap labor is legitimate.

Where does this come from? I've never seen anyone suggesting Trump will create "some sort of 1890s type of racial caste system" or anything like that.

Back during the "no nukes" era of the 1980s, Pete Townshend of the Who gave an outrageous quote to a magazine where he said something like "I'm actually in favor of nuclear power, but I say I'm against it because like everyone else that does I'm hoping to fuck Jane Fonda."

With that in mind: I'm not crazy about Bernie Sanders, but I'm saying I am because here in the DC region it seems like he has all the hot women in his corner. This includes some absolutely stunning foreign women I know.

Here is how I see it: Men are for Trump; angry old hags back Hillary; and political geeks are into all the rest.

So if anyone needs me I'll be with the hotties discussing Bernie and the "evil corporate state" while they tap away on their iPhones, gulp down their Starbucks, and go home to their Ikea furniture. Hahahaha.

I'm for Jim Webb. I also support nuclear power.

I like Bernie Sanders because I think he's honest, same reason I respect Ron Paul. I don't find either of them to be the nasty, egotistical lot that compose of most politicians. I honestly lean more politically towards Sanders, but he's certainly farther to the left than I am. Point being, I don't care where someone is politically, so long as they aren't a dick about it, and are at least somewhat principled.

Indeed the more infuriating thing about Sanders to me is not the man, but his supporters. Raise taxes on other people, rich people are mean, pardon me while I text my parents on my iPhone because my rent and new car payment are due and I need money.

Anyway, I like Webb because I believe he's honest and I think he's one of the rare politicians who actually gives a crap about the white, middle class voter without putting every other group on a pedestal (women, minorities, one legged midgets, etc.).

It's a shame he doesn't have a chance, but that won't stop me for voting for/supporting him.

I personally don't care if the person is a nice guy or not, I just want them to do the best they can for the American people.

You are right about Sanders, if you have to question whether he will be good for the country or not, simply look at the people that support him. Pretty much a poster for all that we talk about being wrong with this country.

My problem with Jim Webb is he seems like one of those guys who truly does care, but he doesn't know how to solve the problems. He would be far better than Hillary or Jeb, easily, but we need someone up there who either knows economics or knows people who do know economics to turn this thing back around before it is too late.

Webb admitted in a 60 Minutes interview that he made a mistake voting for Obamacare. I have a lot of respect for him admitting this is a mistake. The problem is, he didn't even stop to think that passing a 2,700 page bill that he didn't even care to read that will directly impact 20% of the economy and indirectly impact it all, would be a bad idea. I am glad he admitted it in hindsight, but what will he do to not make such a huge mistake the next time. Who will he surround himself with to understand the deep economic ramifications from such a monstrous bill?

This is just downright retard shit. Some 'Black Lives Matter' protesters stormed on stage today before Bernie Sanders made a speech and demanded to be aloud to speak.

I'm not for or against Bernie at this point, I just think this was a funny story that shows the small amount of knowledge people who are the loudest sometimes have. Sanders is the last person these protesters should be against.

Oh, and this whole thing was in front of a Starbucks. Talk about leftist free-for-all. Laugh

Bernie is just another thug who will steal from productive people and give it to government workers, the lazy. End of story. LOL at thinking a Jewish socialist from New York is going to be a savior. Some lessons haven't been learned from the Russian Revolution.

Yes to all the leftists, the banks and corporations are out of control but isn't it funny that neither of those entities fight high taxation or the welfare state. Those things simply consolidate their power and market share. Your left wing policies are the best thing for the corporations.

Doing better economically than the USA right now, as our leaders sell us out, is not something to write home about.

As for "free", the reason your family was poor is because all the opportunities to do more with their life and improve themselves and grow was spent to pay for these "free" things. Nothing in life is free.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/2472...or-slavery

Quote:Sanders: 'We have got to apologize for slavery'

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday said the nation owes an apology for slavery.

“As a nation — I don’t think as a president, but as a nation — we have got to apologize for slavery,” the 2016 Democratic presidential contender told host Joe Madison on Sirius XM’s “The Black Eagle.”

“As a nation we have got to apologize for slavery, and of course the president is the leader of the nation,” he added.

Sanders said that slavery had caused too much suffering to remain unaddressed.
“Obviously nobody in this generation was involved in slavery,” Sanders said.

“But as a nation, slavery is one of the abominations that our country has experienced," he continued. "There is no excuse — what can we say about it?”

“It was horrific,” he added. “It killed millions of people who never made it even across the ocean. It destroyed the lives of so many people.”

Sanders has been attracting large crowds at his campaign events, spurring the campaign of Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the nomination, to express worry about his surge in support.

With polls show him closing the gap with Clinton in early-voting states, Sanders is beginning to make a play for minority voters crucial to Democratic candidates.

Sanders in the interview said the economic issues he is pushing to address, such as income inequality, would benefit minority communities, including African-Americans.

“We are talking about raising the minimum wage not to $10 an hour, but $15 an hour, over the period of a few years,” he said.

“We are talking about providing — fighting for — a national healthcare program which guarantees healthcare to all of our people.”

“I think the economic agenda that we are outlying will impact very positively all working people in this country, especially people who are being hit the hardest right now, which is people in the African American community.”

Sanders in the interview also voiced disappointment over comedian Bill Cosby, who is facing sexual assault allegations.

Documents unsealed this week reportedly show that Cosby admitted to acquiring quaaludes for drugging women and then having sex with them in 2005, CNN reported Tuesday.

“Well, I think it’s a tragedy,” Sanders said of the allegations against Cosby.

“It appears that the allegations are true, and that’s the reality.”

1. Why should anyone apologize for it since none of us were involved in it?
2. The Union winning the Civil War (after losing several thousand men) and freeing the slaves isn't enough?

I want to like Bernie but the guy has no spine.
