It's because there's so much going on in the city on a daily basis that you feel obligated to check out (especially because I'm paying such high rent) and on the women front, there are so many opportunities to bang women. Last night I promised to work on my business, but ended up getting almost a dozen Bumble notifications from horny women. Ended up going on a date, waking up late this morning and now my day is half over. I have cheated on my diet so many times because of the amount of new things I've wanted to try. Ultimately, it's a matter of discipline.

Hahaha, I do not mean this as an attack on you at all, but the fact that you self-admittedly need to lose weight and still got "almost a dozen Bumble notifications" in one night speaks volumes about the city. I've worked out religiously my entire adult life, have visible abs, every single one of my photos is at least top 15% attractiveness on Photofeeler, and it takes me months to get a dozen Bumble matches out where I am. That is not an exaggeration.

Still waiting for someone who complains about the lack of girlfriend material in NYC to say where in the U.S. is a better bet.

Haha, you, my friend, then need to get your ass down to NYC!

RE: New York City: Losing My Religion
Fuck, this post is giving me some serious nostalgia.

I'm European - moved to NYC when I was a naive but decided 19 year old and lived there for about 8 years. Worked my way up from shit corporate job in a fluorescent lit sardine-packed office in Midtown and living in a shared apartment in Harlem, to starting and running a quite successful company and living in a dope loft in the East Village. Banged the fuck out of the city, 3-4 new chicks a week was not rare. Of course each of them was from a different part of the world, blonde bimbos, black girls, asians & blasians - and everything in between.

At some point I was at some crossroads in life and work, and I decided to say fuck it and went to backpack / work remotely from around the world. This was 3 years ago, and I was hoping that I could just feel like NYC was in my past, but somehow I keep feeling like drawn back to the city.

I'm 30 now, am I still missing out by not being there? I agree with what everyone echoed here though - the city will slowly kill a lot of your human traints. You become impatient, and driven by money and instant gratification. It's possible to keep your zen though, you just need to be proactive about it.
On the other hand - the big rotten apple has made me a harder motherfucker than I would've ever been otherwise. The city and its hustle and bustle and incredible quality and diversity of people have opened my eyes to the world, imparted a stoic attitude on me which I'm thankful for.

Definetely not complaining about my situation right now either, I've been moving around 30+ countries in the last 3 years. living it up in West Africa right now for a few months while I figure out my next target.

BUT.. god damn, no matter where I am - I keep reminiscing about NYC. Maybe its just good ol' nostalgia... "the past grass is always greener"? Or maybe it was just the perfect city for a man like me?

Have any of you moved back after a long time away?

You don't have to fret about leaving a cult if you avoid entering it in the first place.
