RE: The Star Wars thread
More rumors aside from the leaks:

They supposedly had a first version that was finished 6 months ago (which would be on schedule to do all the marketing and merch). But the ratings were following:

First act 65%
Second act 12%
Third Act 4%

This was the first Kennedy-JJAbrams version.

Rumors are that Iger was enraged and ordered massive reshoots.

They did another version and it scored 65% overall. Then they pulled George Lucas into the game (likely at a pricetag of 10 mio. $) and George helped them reshoot/change the story in the final weeks to an overall rating of 88%.

Somehow I doubt that frankly.

The first version had Marey Sue stomp the emperor into the ground as the bestest Jedi evar and the audience was laughing at that because the scene was so ridiculous.

Ah well - fuck them - by this time I vividly hate all of Disney now. I simply loathe their guts and would never dream of giving them another cent.

Oh and the price tag is well over 400 mio. $ plus marketing - the breakeven point must be around 1,1-1,2 bio. $ or more.

It sounds like they took story inspiration from the Dark Empire comics (Emperor resurrection, dumb superweapons, general plot idiocy), which is one of the most-disliked Expanded Universe properties.

They had dozens, if not hundreds, of books, comics, and games from which to piece together a decent story, and they still got it wrong.

^Been saying the same thing for a while. EU had some some exceptional story arcs and back stories for different characters, such as Boba Fett, etc.

Again, and because it bears repeating, their problem is not that they're wrapping social justice around a storyline. They're attempting to wrap a storyline around social justice. A half way decent writer can do the first easily. The second always results in a pile of shit, no exceptions. It's the difference between having a hot chick but no makeup or a pig with all lipstick you want.

God demands of Man responsibility. God demands of Woman vulnerability. These are their curse and blessing alike. Libertianism is to Man as Feminism is to Woman.

Hilarious - so true - Hollywood trots out a pig and tells to some good writers:

"Make it work! I want her to be a beauty queen!"

Hollywood was always filled with some propaganda - not all movies - but many to some degree. But it was mostly a few points here and there. At times there was even zero.

Someone recently did a comparison of the CW-show Batwoman and the Supernatural TV show. Both have the same female dominant demographic. But while Supernatural gives those viewers conventionally strong hot masculine Chads, Chads who also get the girls and slay monsters, it succeeds among the demographic with a relatively small budget. They did 15 seasons of that because they stuck to the old model - and I am sure that they have some odd propaganda points in it just like The Orville does.

The problem is of course when you do the opposite and take the unlikeable SJW-laden characters and story of Batwoman, Star Trek Discovery or Disney Star Wars and attempt to do a good show. Even the casting of the writers already lets you fail because the producers hired diverse race-driven SJWs who write the same sub-par crap and then bring even more agenda into it. The few talented writers are pushed away, fired or they quit on their own if they can afford it like that one black SF writer recently who left.

And the entire crap gets emboldened initially because the Farce Awakens made 2 bio. $ and Captain Marvel mad 1 bio. $ (probably 200+ mio. $ fake by buying tickets themselves, but whatever). In the end their only hope is that they are a monopoly and they squeeze out all independent creators like Lucas.

I saw for example about the latest Terminator flop that the last 2 Terminator movies were financed by independents and Hollywood seemed to have deliberately inflated and boycotted those movies with those inexperienced creators. I wouldn't even put it past them to get hired at studios like Sony and then deliberately tank them if the tribe does not own it. The third movie they tanked on their own with their own money being agenda-heavy just like Star wars.

But what can you expect - the art of a culture follows the rise and fall of it as well. We are in the free fall stage and the art. The Greeks and Romans did their best work in the early and height-stages of their empires. The same goes for the West. The best works were done in the 1980s with a few exceptional movies in the 1990s and early 2000s. After that it's mostly stupid drivel and now pure propaganda without soul and meaning.

If I recall correctly, they be paying Lucas money for using expanded universe. Disney was looking to make a new properties for the Star Wars franchise in order to keep more money to themselves. Instead, karma occurred and Rain and Lucasfilms storyteller reject group burn the entire franchise into the ground with their 'wokeness'. Add in problems with the parks and general stupidity of MBA's running the company, Disney is going to take massive hit in the near futures.

What karma are you talking about? Lucas likely negotiated a cut for all the characters he had created - which explains why they killed off Original Trilogy characters and pushed their own shitty ones. And they bombed because they were badly written.

One of their diverse storygroup bosses has already been fired and behind the scenes they certainly scream and holler while Bob Iger wants to see rough cuts personally of the Mandalorian and likely Rise of Starwalker.

And it wasn't so long ago when the Disney execs and reps were smug and satisfied about it - after the initial success of the Farce Awakens and the Last Jedi:

Positive force in the community?

Sure - so positive - just shit on the fans. And she wasn't the only one - plenty of others who had even pronouns in their Disney bio shat on fans, called them toxic fanboys etc.

Fuck them - Disney Star Wars is the most hated, most SJW-platform currently out there short of Marvel Comics which has become something more akin to Tumblr. The only difference is that they flushed billions down the toilet with Star Wars while Marvel comics would just cost them dozens of millions or a hundred million over the years.

JJAbrams is always flash over substance. That is why the Farce Awakens was more like Lost - interesting in the beginning and then bombed quickly in story. Add to it the current far more SJW climate and Lost would have bombed in the first 3 episodes as the fat lesbian bluehairs would have gotten center stage while the sexy doctor would be a misogynist incompetent pig. JJ is not only imcompetent or is a one-trick-pony of limited range, he is also a sellout to the max. And Bob Iger micro-managing creative processes? That moron may be a good corporate manager, but he has zero creative credential. The problem is that he can't hire real talent, sideline all those empowered stronk wahmen SJWs and let them do their job. Also he can't admit that JarJar is a semi-DBWeiss, so he is stuck like a failing restaurant owner who desperately attempts to cook meals hiimself despite never having cooked himself (I eat, so I should know how it's done eh?).
