Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/sena...ng-n473761

Quote:The Senate narrowly passed a bill Thursday that would repeal key pieces of the Affordable Care Act and strip federal funding of Planned Parenthood for one year.

The bill, which only needed 51 votes to pass because it was being considered using a procedure allowing it to bypass typical Senate procedures which require 60 votes to advance a piece of legislation, passed 52 to 47.

The bill is not expected to become law.

It now goes to the House of Representatives, where it is expected to pass. The House passed a similar version on Oct. 23, but must vote on it because the Senate made changes to adhere to budgetary rules.

The White House has already said that President Barack Obama will veto the legislation once it reached his desk, and Republicans do not have the two-thirds majority needed to override that veto.

Though it's only temporary and won't effectively do anything since Obama will veto it, I'm surprised I haven't seen a shit storm online about this yet.

They also voted to kill Obamacare. It doesn't mean anything because they lack the votes to override a veto.

I actually disagree with the Senate's actions in this case. I actually like Planned Parenthood. Their clinics are a nice, low-cost place for me to get an STD test so I can keep raw-dogging the hoes with impunity.

Shrodax, are you serious? Planned Parenthood will stop providing STD tests if they stop getting federal money?

This puts the spotlight on the Dems being ok with the selling of aborted fetus chunks. Maybe the Republicans are growing balls and brains watching Trump? About fucking time.

I'm not sure about Planned Parenthood, but over in the UK we have GUM clinics which are free and they provide all the services regarding sexual help and disease control.

Basically if they were to be scrapped, the number of STD'/STI's would increase to epidemic levels with the amount of raw dogging going on. Yes I am serious.

Young women would not seek advice on abortions and contracepyives as much if they were worse off economically and you would have a lot of useless little turds running around as a result.

An all-round check up for one person at a private clinic is £300 or thereabouts. This is in the north of the country so they're the cheapest.

I don't see why we would defund something which helps keep women and men STD free and helps prevent a shit ton of single women from popping out babies. Regular medical costs in the US are ridiculous, PP is a nice lower cost alternative.

Planned parenthood is cheaper because its subsidized by the federal government. Somebody is paying for it.

I believe in limited govt. One less thing they fund is a step in the right direction, although doing so now may give the Dems a boost in 2016

The issue is changing one thing without changing the other. Defunding PP is only a good thing if you also change the culture before that. The thought process seems to be "defund PP --> less abortions". In reality it will just make illegal/unsterile abortions and neglected, impoverished kids go up while further ruining your country as a whole. Also, would the bill regulate which specific procedures get less money or just less money for PP overall? Since PP not only does unjustified abortions but also does justified ones and other things that are actually useful for society, maybe they would continue the abortions like before but cut spending on the useful things.

RE: Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood
I agree somebody is paying for it, but paying for PP is way cheaper than paying for all the single moms PP prevents. My point was lower class people don't always have the money to pay for healthcare. If part of my taxed go to ensuring that there are less unwanted babies in the lower class that we would have to pay for anyway, and in addition STD treating, that is a movement I can get behind. Maybe someday someone can fix our welfare state, but until then organizations like PP are a necessary evil. In my opinion, fix the problems PP is helping to solve first, then talk about shutting it down. Shutting it down without an alterntive plan already in place is foolish.

Nothing is free. PP is "cheap" because of Federal Funding. What does not that mean?

It means, you're paying for it through taxes. The actual extent is hard to determine, but the basic idea is that you pay a consistent price every year, so that the price at PP is cheap and constant. But you have no idea how much of your taxes are going to it and therefore it's hard to tell how much you're really spending on it, even if you don't use it or need it.

Frankly, I can't think of a better way for my tax money to be spent than preventing kids being born to the types of people who end up having abortions/using planned parenthood. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, tax money wise.

I had to look up GUM clinic to find out what that meant. You know, I used to be very libertarian about the whole socialized medicine thing but I can now see that these hoes really do need frequent and inexpensive cooter inspections.

But with regard to number two, doesn't the UK already have ridiculously high STI rates in spite of having these clinics?

RE: Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood
Just saw this article. Don't read if you are having a good day. It is pretty messed up.

Basic idea is, Planned Parenthood is pretending it offers prenatal care as a justification for Fed funding when in fact all they do is kill babies:

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/444...oups-focus

Quote:The first video in a new investigation conducted by pro-life group Live Action has revealed that Planned Parenthood has been grossly exaggerating its commitment to prenatal care.

In reality, countless of its abortion clinics across the country provide no assistance to pregnant women who want to keep their children. The group frequently claims to provide prenatal care, often as a justification for why it deserves federal funding for its work.

In its 2014-2015 annual report, Planned Parenthood stated that it had provided upwards of 17,000 prenatal services. (Compare that to its 325,000 annual abortion procedures, over 30 percent of the nation’s abortions each year.) And, as the Live Action video shows, Planned Parenthood executives and supporters often insist that women will lose essential prenatal care if the group were to be defunded. Here’s the video:

Quote:Mary Alice Carter, a spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood, told the New York Times on Tuesday that the group has never claimed that all of its clinics offer prenatal care, arguing that the video holds the organization to a standard that it never set for itself. But according to Live Action president Lila Rose, the investigation shows Planned Parenthood’s own employees admitting that abortion is the focus of their work, and she asserts that its executives are conducting a false campaign to preserve the group’s public image.

Some of the women in the video even snicker in what seems to be duper's delight at how deceptive they are being.

“The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents.”

RE: Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood was created as a eugenics vehicle to cull the American black population that was growing and outpacing white American growth. During the time of its conception, the fear among the gilded establishment was that Black America would wake up from the coma and create a cohesive structure and fused block that would push back via democratic... or forceful means.

Planned Parenthood was set up to "cull the savages" as they put it so mildly in those days. Planned Parenthood has managed to destroy 40-50 million black babies during its years in operation, and it has been one of the most brutal systematic killing operations in modern history. Brutal in the sense that is has been targeted and naked for all to see, mass delusion convinces people that it is fine for tax money to go towards a killing operation that culls babies. Only propaganda deludes people into thinking a fetus with a heartbeat is not alive. Humans are one of the slowest developing mammals on earth, and we take a fuck tonne of time to grow, and it just does not magically start once the kid pops out. It begins in the womb and continues for many months - to years - after we are born. A kid is not even done being an infant till around 18-26 months which in total equals over two years of critical periods from time in the womb to out of development.

Planned Parenthood needs to be called out for what it is and laid naked so the American people can assess the actual value of the organisation. If Americans knew they fund a baby killing depot, the majority would object to its continuation. The public health sham is just a ruse. You can quickly run sexual and reproductive health clinics very lean and cheaply minus the abortion aspect of it all. Planned Parenthood makes abortion as easy and accessible as McDolnalds which should not be the case.
