Thyroid Problems
I am learning about the thyroid and its functions. My doctor told me I have a bit high thyroid levels which means hyper thyroid -- over secreting t3 and t4 hormones. My blood test showed 5.65. The normal range should not exceed 3.75 - and best it be at 2.

My doctor was saying there is no real cause and even healthy persons can get thyroid issues. Apparently once a person starts taking medication they must continue with the meds until the rest of their days- they is no getting off them.

Does anyone have info on how to bring the thyroid back to healthy levels. Iodine is important so I have read and it is found in seaweed kind of food stuff.

Did you have any symptoms before going to the doctor?

RE: Thyroid Problems
I've had anxiety for years. I've managed to deal with it for the most part, but it's still an issue and it's very annoying. What I mean is that when it happens I always find a way to handle it, but I would expect that the number of times that I've been exposed to situations that bring it on would have finally gotten the message to my brain to snap out of it. But it keeps happening and I'm tired of having to deal with it. I wonder if maybe there's some physical reason for it. Does the thyroid have any connection? If so, is there something I can do, like eat or drink something?

That's not how we do things in Russia, comrade.

RE: Thyroid Problems
I know when the thyroid is off you tend to go a little crazy. Blow things out of proportion and try to find things to be mad about. If your worried you need to see an endocrinologist. Its a very complicate organ and the treatment of it is rather delicate. Or at least get some bloodwork from a primary doctor. But its notorious difficult to determine since its doesn't always show up from blood results, but you still might have symptoms. I'm not sure how great food (usually iodine and sugars) is for it.
