Idont know the history of Bc politics.

Man I can't wait for the pipeline wars to start. BC will prevent any pipelines from the oil sands to tidewater for sure now. Whenever Notley gets shit kicked out of office the new Pc/Wildrose leader better fucking nut up and block any BC gas from the Montney from flowing through Alberta to market. Yes this will hurt the operators like who produce in NE BC but at some point you gotta starve the dog. All these envirodicks in Vancouver enjoy the sweet sweet royalty money thanks to BC gas flowing from the NE part of the province. Meanwhile there is a TON of stranded gas in Alberta because the bigger operators in BC have firm service with the big pipeline companies to flow to the US and the little guys in Alberta are fucked since the pipelines are at capacity thanks to this flood of BC Montney gas. My proposed BC gas pipeline ban would then generate more money for Alberta in royalties because you could bring the shut in Alberta production back on. There is literally zero downside to this except for companies who will lose all their cash flow from NE BC. But that's the risk of doing business in hostile communist regions such as BC.

Nice nice looks like Jason Kenney heard my demands

Quote:While he began banging this drum of “consequences” a few weeks ago, he is now starting to define what they could mean.

“If B.C. want to move their gas through Alberta to U.S. markets, perhaps we should be tolling that gas,” he told a cheering crowd, which roared in approval when he talked of “turning off the taps” when it came to stopping the shipment of all Alberta oil to other provinces.

Vote for United Conservative leader is this week. I always thought Jean was the best choice but I have noticed how much Kenney triggers liberals. So maybe there is some merit to him...

RE: The Canada Political Thread
I like Brian Jean, he was a true leader during the Fort McMurray wildfires but there may be too many right wing skeletons in his closet as leader of the Wildrose Party for him to have mainstream appeal. Let’s face it, Alberta isn’t as reliably right wing as before, especially since so many gimmedat creeps and bums (RIP Ralph) from the east moved here en masse over the years, us socialist East coasters are the worst!

Jason Kenney is an odd duck; childless and never married, he also went to uni in San Francisco, I’d say that he likely takes it up the ass. I don’t know why he just doesn’t come out of the closet, he could drain some of the LGBTQ fruit roll up votes from the NDP. He isn’t a guy that I’d enjoy having a drink with, similar to Ezra Levant but I do like how much of a fighter and solid debater he is, he will be a huge thorn in Trudeau’s and the BC NDP’s sides.

Overall I am optimistic that the UCP will win against the NDP in the next election, I wouldn’t say that Notley’s government has been a disaster as many predicted but Alberta needs a cheer leader for oil and gas, not carbon taxes and cancelled pipelines.

Full disclosure: I voted NDP in 2015

If you can't handle me at my dog fuckin', then you don't deserve me at my given'er!

Exclamation RE: The Canada Political Thread

The govt wants to bring in 1 million new immigrants in 3 years. First off, how does the govt plan to employ all these people.

The economy is shit and produces low wage service jobs. What I dont understand is, if the transitioning to robots is already occuring for low wage jobs, why the hell are they bringing in all these people.

Yes, there will be a ton of skilled people but skilled people dont immediately get skilled jobs in Canada. It takes them years. Plus there are not hundreds of thousands of skilled jobs, especially new jobs, in this country.

I immigrated when I was 7 from India, and am a new grad realizing the difficulty of finding jobs and the last thing people my age want is more competition!

Maybe this is just to drive down wages in all jobs??

You would not be here if your dad had no skills. I wouldn't be here either.. the bulk of Canadian immigrants are Economic Migrants.

The Govt opens the water tap because the Canadian workforce woefully underperforms. Canada lacks the numbers for low skilled work and high-skilled work. Lots of Canadians ready to paper push work for Govt, but none want to serve coffee, and none can program code and do engineering.

Also, all these educated women who are young do not have kids. Only the Aboriginals I believe actually have high birth rates in Canada while the rest are at low levels.

Next, Govt needs new babies to feed into the future tax pot to help fund the Boomers as they age. The ageing boomers will become a cataclysmic shift in the economy that nobody knows how profound the impact will be. It will be great boom and busts depending on how one is oriented in the economy at that time.

This all just adds to the Canadian tragedy. This nation should be the richest and most advanced nation on earth. We keep falling behind and behind.

Its a race between feelgood bills designed to make governments look progressive, and companies being drained to fund these programs.

The Vancouver business community has been talking about this every day for now, especially so since the socialists took partial control of the BC government.

I do have to admit though, that its great to watch a government struggle to come to terms with the fact that looking good and doing good are completely different and have an economic impact equally disproportionate.
