RE: The Master Man Beard Thread
My beard was getting too wiry, and the coconut oil just wasn't doing it. One night it was super greasy with oil, so I decided to cut it.

Now I really regret it. Have to wait another month or two. I even bought a bottle of organic, cold-pressed jojoba oil for when this happens again. I'm going to mix it up with some tea tree oil.

I still have more hair on my face than these fags though... And I'm hitting SEA next week so the pussy juice will help my beard regrow.

Picked up these "natural oils" from Amazon for only $16

Avocado, Jojoba, Almond

Mix all 3 with some coconut oil, put it in a little dropper and apply it daily to my beard.

Been over a month now and my beard feels so soft and just feels healthier.

Before this I was buying little 4oz marketed beard oils from companies like Honest Amish for about $13 each.

Make your own BETTER oils and save some money

Ive been using Jojoba on my beard since September and it works wonders. Argan Oil also works well.

My barber recommended using a drop of olive oil and rubbing it into my hands then rubbing it into my beard. My beard went from wiry to soft real quick.

Great advice, and I don't have to splurge on beard oil.

I'm using castor oil and aloe vera. Seems to be working.

RE: The Master Man Beard Thread
My beard game was strong to start 2018 but getting a little unruly. I was at my brother's this weekend and he cut my hair with some brand new $20 pair of clippers he just got.

The beard. I wouldn't let him touch the beard. Only the hoes and myself touch the beard. Either way my beard was too powerful. Too mighty. It would not be trimmed by the frailty of those cheap blades.

I had to wait to get home to trim it with my barber clippers. To this day I wonder if it was a sign. A sign to not trim my beard directly from the beard gods themselves.

^ I took my electric clippers to my beard earlier this week. My chin was particularly long, looking like a full on King Leonidas beard.

Took a couple inches off and kept everything even. I'll have to admit, looks a lot cleaner and looks better on my face. Pretty happy with it.

Just trimmed mine also to even it out. Looks cleaner but had to take off some centimeters and it sucks!

I like the long wilder look but you gotta trim and grow, trim and grow for that fuller look.

I can grow an epic beard. Have been needing to shave for literally half of my life. The problem with my beard though is that, after it gets to a certain length, it starts changing colors. It goes from brown like the hair on my head, to strawberry blonde, and that doesn't look good. Too incongruent. So I just keep scruff and start over when it gets too lengthy.

Followed Kaotic's advice and got a proper trim. Well worth it for the experience, I think, but won't be able to afford that on the regular...

I tried out jojoba oil and it was okay. But I recently purchased some beard cream and it has made ALL the difference. Much fuller feel, stronger hold, and not greasy.

Mine is the same and girls love it. They always ask me about it during conversations.

RE: The Master Man Beard Thread
Nothing new to RVF members, but an interesting read anyways.

Womens beard preferences

Recent research suggests, however, that beards are indeed appealing, perhaps because of its growing popularity and prevalence in media.

What’s definitely clear, Dixson says, is that facial hair makes men look more mature, masculine, socially dominant and aggressive.

“Facial hair enhances masculine facial features,” he says. “It gives the appearance of having a longer face and a bigger jawline, and it frames the mouth and emphasizes the eyes.”

Ann-Marrie Zakkak, a stylist and co-owner of Starks Barber Company in Toronto, says well-groomed beards can shape the face and hide or highlight certain features.

For example, a man with chubby cheeks can grow a beard to make his face appear narrower and someone will hallow cheeks can fill them in with some fuzz.

“With a beard, you can mask things that you aren’t confident about. It’s like makeup,” says Zakkak, a Wahl super user. “Beards make men look great and definitely adds sex appeal.”

But whether you swipe right or left on a dude with scruff depends on what you’re looking for in a mate.

In a study published in 2016 in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology, Dixson and his colleagues showed 8,520 women faces of men at various stages of hair growth: clean shaven, light stubble, heavy stubble and full beards.

The women then rated the men on attractiveness in general terms, for a short-term relationship or for a long-term relationship.

The study found that women’s preferences changed depending on what kind of relationship they were looking for.

Women who were interested in a fling liked the scruffy look, showing a high preference for men with light and heavy stubble and little interest in the clean-shaved baby-faced look.

But for women searching for someone to settle down with, the longer the beard the better. This group rated men with heavy stubble or full beards the highest.

Overall, women found men with heavy stubble the sexiest and clean-shaven men the least desirable.

So what is it about a beard that says a man is going to settle down?

“There are other traits that are ascribed to full beardedness that are actually quite positive, but don’t necessarily scream aesthetic sexual attraction,” Dixson explains. Sincerity, competence, courageousness, self-confidence and social maturity are just some examples.

But you can certainly have too much of a good thing.

In a 2013 paper also published in Evolution and Human Behavior, Dixson and his coauthor found that ratings of masculinity and social dominance rise linearly with facial hair, but attractiveness makes a U shape, indicating a cutoff at which you can have too much beard and it becomes unattractive.

“It reaches a threshold at which point it just looks too dominant, too masculine and is unappealing aesthetically,” Dixson says. “You get a Goldilocks effect somewhere in the middle.”

But what about the guys who want a beard but don’t think they can grow one? According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, a growing number of men are seeking hair transplants to create a beard, with nearly 200 men in Canada undergoing the procedure in 2016. But that may be an extreme and unnecessary step.

“Guys aren’t patient enough, so they don’t let everything grow out. It doesn’t have to be perfect,” says Zakkak, adding that diligent grooming is essential to achieving a desirable look.

Quick question guys.

So, I'm 19 and my chin is bald. Luke, squeaky clean. All my peers have beards and I don't. I know the whole "Its-genetics-wait-for-the-right-time" talk and I'm not very patient with it. I heard castor oil + Almond Oil = full beard.

Is it true?

Its genetics. Just be patient. At 21 I couldn't grow anything worth keeping but now at 23 I've got a full beard with decent thickness. It will improve as you get older.

The only thing that will really "help" with beard growth is minoxidil (Rogaine) and that comes with a host of potential side effects.

First time growing a full beard. This is around 7 weeks. Noticed a thinning/bald patch in my chin, an inch or so south of the mouth. Kinda pissed me off frankly. Any idea what that is, alopecia? Going to go to barbers for a tidy up on the weekend, but weird bald spot apart am pretty happy with it. Will look to grow it out, tapering the sides, and longer around the middle of jaw, with a slightly longer moustache, without looking like a hipster douche. A difficult proposition, i know.

Looks a bit of a mess at this point. Haven't used any oils or products beyond Dove soap when washing my face. Probably should start, not sure how much isn't just marketing though.

Give it 3 more months and everything will fill in-I have a bald spot on the right side of my beard near where my smile lines start- it all grew in after about 5-6 months.

What's the consensus re visiting the barbers or trimming at home?

I'm still a novice in the beard game, and where I live can get a trim with a barbers that specialises in beards for around 8 dollars.

Go to the barber unless you have experience cutting hair and lining up because you will need to fade into the beard if it's of any decent length and fullness.

Definitely go with the barber. A really good one won't just cut your beard, but will help shape it into something that best fits your face and maximizes your style.

I would like an advice, on how you manage your moustache after it reaches certain length and begins to obstruct your eating. Of course, you may trim it. But otherwise, how do you deal with it? Just to use an example, I was just watching the interview with Roosh on Balkan Info (date 06. 02. 19), the lengh I mean, and his one looks pretty well managed. Do you just form it with your fingers, use a comb, and it stays? Or what? I would like to hear back from those of you with such a moustache.
