The end of Shawshank is my favorite and still brings a tear to my eye. Of course you would've had to have watched the whole movie already for it to mean anything.

The Lion King was by a very large margin the most red-pill movie to come out of Disney. Over 20 years later and its still a great movie.

Disney used to release some really scary and deep shit.

I'm just wondering if they intended to release those movies for adults instead of kids.

'and then, one night, I looked upon the words of the cage door ....and understood them'

A movie where mice gain conciousness like humans is impossible to find again today amongst the mindless and boring Disney movies.

Break-up scene from Closer. The whole scene is about 7 minutes, but these last 2 minutes things really escalate.

I've always thought the scene in Godfather: Part II is a great example of masculinity in film.

Vito understands the situation, and instead of being childish/womanish and pouting, he puts his boss at ease and tells him that he won't forget the favors done for him. Instead of hitting the booze or wallowing in self-pity, he comes home to the wife and gets to work on something new.

That Finding Nemo scene brings tears to my eyes every time. Especially at when the pelican's voice drowns out in Nemo's stare.

I have a few but here's one that comes to mind right away: the crucifixion scene from Scorsese's controversial 1988 film adaption of The Last Temptation of Christ.

The imagery of the scene (particularly of Defoe's Jesus breaking down, carrying the cross on his back as the crowd behind him jeers) coupled with the track "Passion" from Peter Gabriel's outstanding score (featuring the otherworldly voice of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) combines to create a really intense and emotional scene. I'm not religious at all. I'm moved close to tears nearly every time I see this.

Admittedly, I am an old man, compared to most posters.

I live in a college town, filled with as many snowflakes as one could imagine. (Correcting the bias = not assuming other towns have the same kookiness)

By the time I was 18 or so, I'd traveled Europe, drove across the US, gotten laid (front seat), and played in 3 bands in and out of town.

I'd say to "Get off my lawn," but snowflakes are too busy trying to solve the daily shoelace problem...

Two things:

“I’ve…seen things
you people wouldn’t believe.
Attack ships on fire
off the shoulder of Orion.
I’ve watched c-beams,
glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
All those…moments
will be lost in time, like…
tears, in rain.
…Time to die.”
- Roy Batty

Yes, you know what that is. Yes, it was brought up before. But instead of a pic or a clip, dig the words. Let this clip run in your mind instead of on a screen. You have life experience, you know how this feels. So let the poetry roll through you.

One more for my fellow kings. I’m not the biggest Trek fan, but this scene gets me every time: Spock’s final moments in Wrath of Kahn. Bones: “I think you need to get down here, Jim. Better hurry.”

In the engine room, Spock is clearly down for the count. But when he hears the voice of his friend calling out to him, he summons the will to stand one final time. Before turning around, he does something remarkable. He straightens his uniform.

When I was in the service we called this “keeping your military bearing.” Nowadays, I like to think of it as “maintaining frame.” Spock’s first words in the scene: “Ship…out of danger?” He collects himself, and then sees to the safety of others. Apparently there are alphas on Vulcan, too.

Before going into a job interview, I tug at my suit coat and straighten it. Before making an approach, I tug at the bottom of my shirt and straighten it. Before fixing the warp drive I…you get the idea.
