The French were retiring in and buying property in Colombia long before it became popular with North Americans.

"Due to its violent history, Medellín has never had big waves of foreign visitors compared to other cities in the region. In 2015, 212,000 foreigners visited the city and in 2019 this number has almost surpassed a million. While foreigners are mostly treated with kindness and respect, this reception to visitors will likely change if the paradigm of sexual and drug-related tourism keeps increasing."

I mentioned in this thread earlier that I used to date a cute girl from los llanos whom I didn't actually gave a fuck about. I was surprised when she appeared with a scrawny guy from Belgium who took her to paris and europe. Oh man, they are so 'in love' right now haha.

I think there are some other more interesting town for me but I don't know other towns in Colombia.

Several have said the Pereira is good. Cali might also be better, but more dangerous. It's a conundrum really, you need a large city for better selection and more opportunity, but larger cities are more dangerous generally speaking. Most women can be prostitutes, it's just a question of price.

Pereira is ok for 2-3 days, I wouldn’t base a trip to Colombia around the city.

Which Colombian city has the baddest bitches?

I'm from Mexico and in Mexico you have regions of hot bitches and regions where bitches are just so-so.

I assume its the same in Colombia.

RE: The Colombia Master Thread
So.. I've arrived in Bogota.

Seemed highly sketchy on first arrival but I've been out walking around every day, and now feel it's not so bad really. Still sketchy but, I've relaxed a little!

But... fucking finding somewhere to rent is proving more difficult that I anticipated - AirBnb rates are fucking crazy high if you want something decent in a better location.

All the OK looking and "just about in price range" places I'm seeing on Airbnb for 3 month rentals are all down in the Calle 50s area. Some claim to be Chapinero Alto.

Man, I'd really rather be up in the 70/80/90s but... crazy prices.

My current host has a friend who has a place to rent but I can seem him angling to extract as much money as he thinks I can afford. Also, I'd rather not be connected to him after my stay is over.

A forum guy has helped out and I'm seeing a very tiny place near Parque 93 on Thursday. But it looks quite micro, and has no doorman.

Fuck! Why is it always a problem of rental, whichever city I got to in the world! The world has just become too damn expensive and interconnected!

On the plus side, I like all these women sitting around on the streets breast-feeding - that should be encouraged in more countries Smile

Anyone know a good person or place to get a decent, 1st world haircut in Bogota? English speaking ideally as my Spanish is still poor?

Gracias.

Also, what's the latest info on ATMs with the largest withdrawal amount? The best I could find was an orange bank inside Andino mall (ground floor) that allowed maximum 790,000 COP.

Actually, that might be a lie - I think I found one on "Carrera 11" close by that said 900,000 but I was in a rush so settled for the 790K.

But even 900K isn't great - the fourm said Citibank allowed up to 1.2 mil but my Colombian host tells me there are no Citibanks left in Colombia any longer...

Hey man, Scotiabank replaced citibank in colombia. Give em a shot. The maximum withdrawal amount is from 1 to 2 millions per day depending on the bank.. That means you can withdraw 900.000 in one shot and then another 900.000. As far as decent haircuts in the 85th you should find guys who know how to get it done. I also heard of a guy who is colombian american who has one barbershop on the 51th st with caracas. I read that in this forum. Check those out. Cheers.

Thanks man - I see, so it's never 1.2 mil in one go, still requires two withdrawals and thus two charges? That's a pain. Guess it's useful for safety maybe.

Yeah I see Scotian put a post about some NY guy he knew setting up a barber shop - see if Scotian sees this thread, he may have some more info on it.

It depends on the card. Some ATMs give 2 million+ to some cards. Try different combinations of cards and ATMs.

Any suggestions on which ones? I got a message at the ATM that says "Max 780,000 for any foreign cards" ie, it doesn't matter which card but if it's foreign, the withdrawal limit is higher at 780K.

I don't remember mate, I never got more than 780k out of these machines but I'll ask my friend who got 2 million with his card and let you know.

Okay it's Davivienda that's giving my friend 2MM. But it depends on your card. None of my cards (MasterCard, Visa, Maestro) get more than 780k for some weird reason. I even went to the bank and called some number in Bogota. Nobody seems to know why the same ATMs give higher limits to some cards than others... it's not due to the card's own limit.

The Colpatria ATMs in Cali allow 900k a pop. They are a Scotiabank affiliate or something.
