Should Politics continue remaining separate from Everything Else?
So I just wanted to get a poll from the readership. We've had a separate Politics section for a while I'm thinking of whether we should keep things the way they are or return to how it was with all threads in this subforum.

On one hand, having a split is handy, but on the other, it does feel like the forum is more fractured. Also, the line between Politics and EE is very fine.

I can go either way so I wanted to do a vote to get a feel for what you think. The vote is non-binding.

RE: Should Politics continue remaining separate from Everything Else?
I think if we move politics back to everything else, we should condense some of the Trump and migrant invasion threads.

My opinion on the matter is:

Politics and the migrant crisis are great topics, some of the best topics. And let me tell you, I LOVE these topics. Phenomenal. But I've got to say, and I'm going to say this because I've watched these topics grow out of hand and sort of, I don't want to say they're dividing the forum, but it made me think of the story of the Trojan horse. I mean, are they a Trojan horse? So I think we've GOT to get the right people in here to look at this problem, because it is a major, major problem. But you know Roosh, if you asked me right now, what I think the best decision for this forum is, I would tell Politics that it has to go back. It has to be a part of the forum the right way, legally.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

In theory it works better separate. In practice, better together but with stiff moderation.

RE: Should Politics continue remaining separate from Everything Else?
As a result of the Trump/Migrant posts being separated I started to use the "View new posts" button on the top when I come here. Its actually improved my overall RooshVForum experience.

So it no longer matters where anything is anymore, at least to me.

RE: Should Politics continue remaining separate from Everything Else?
I think the separation is perfect.

Firstly, the forum is already fractured beyond it being easy to see everything in one place. But given that all I'm interested in is "new content", it doesn't matter. Normally I click the "View New Posts" link (hot tip for newbies), and only go into specific forums to post a new thread. As monstrosities like bodybuilding.com or 4chan show, if posting traffic increases you've only got the choice of heavy or loose sub-categorization respectively. I'd say this forum is currently striking the perfect amount of sub-categorization.

The division between EE and Politics is "light" and "heavy". When I'm in EE, I know it's going to be general topics, albeit with frequent negative news stories, but not "heavy". It's got stuff like the latest gay or feminist freak, the latest case of some dude getting fucked over in family court, funny pics & vids, movie reviews & talk, 'delete', Tuth's 'types of trolls' thread, and the lounge etc.

But when I go into Politics, I know I'm entering the land of war, racial and religious conflict, survival and extinction talk, conspiracy theories, and generally heavy topics. Even the Trump thread -- we're talking about the difference between 4-8 years of American revival, versus 4-8 years of some monster plunging the dagger in even deeper.

I think this division of 'misc light' versus 'misc heavy' is exactly what the forum should keep. It gives more flexibility to members to choose the discussion content they are in the mood for consuming.

I've really enjoyed the separation. I still go look at politics threads sometimes, but when I'm not in the mood for something heavy, the current EE is perfect for my needs and when I want to do some soul searching, I go back over to Politics.

It's better to have the politics threads separated from the EE forum. It has enhanced the forum experience.

As a suggestion, the politics threads deserve its own forum.

Well played I did actually start reading this in Trumps voice half way through.

I think they are good separated, keep it that way.

Keep the separation. I think having the higher-order topics separate from the rest is a good idea.

The people have spoken.

For the meanwhile, let's keep SJW hijinks/outrages/nonsense in Everything Else. Things that are directly connected to political figures, government, terrorism, and migration can go in Politics & War.

All I know is people used to bitch and complain EE was getting too serious with cultural and political topics that weren't fun and playboyish enough anymore. Now no one can say that. If you don't want serious things you don't have to see them.

I almost say make another subforum for cultural SJW stuff, because I can see how people that don't care for it and just want to be Neomasculine without having to read all the social commentary and only want to focus on the self improvement aspects - I guess that is what the Lifestyle forum is for though.

RE: Should Politics continue remaining separate from Everything Else?
Ah but they are not separate. Politics & War is a forum within the Everything Else forum, which actually seems to be working the best so far since the change.

I liked it better before there was ever a separation, but since the separation this seems to be the best balance.

As an example, I often see the Last Post next to the Everything Else Forum section and it's the Donald Trump Thread as well as the Politics & War subforum listed underneath the EE heading, so it works reasonably well for me.

I think it should be separate; I also would rather threads about news or current events be in a separate forum from the general chat about music, TV, video games, etc to keep the tone less negative in this subforum.

I mostly just check the Trump thread on this forum now at this point, once in a while I will check out game or everything else. But that is just where my mind is at right now. It doesn't matter which forum it is in, I voted it makes no difference.

Newbie here with a suggestion. Maybe put the Deep Forum alongside PandW in EE or separate out PandW out of EE (I prefer the former). Otherwise the setup looks a bit random. Seems Deep and PandW are quite similar but in very different places.

Separate is better indeed, but the words "War and Politics" should be a bit bigger, more visible, the same size I think as Everything Else... almost same font size...

RE: Should Politics continue remaining separate from Everything Else?
Vox populi, vox dei.

There are some interesting 'case studies' on increased forum sub-categorization. Take the misc for example, which is pretty heavily categorised considering it is a sub-forum itself (although the biggest by a huge amount)

Now I'm not a misc expert, but from what I see is that there is categorization for people who are serious about topics to have discussions troll-free.

This forum has much stronger moderation and is more serious overall, so extra categorization isn't needed.

I voted for the 'It doesn't matter' option.

I can't imagine things that shape the global environment sharing the same Internet space as the private activities between a woman and her dog.

Especially when this segregated section is what seems to be the only place on the Internet that is devoid of propaganda and censorship, from BOTH sides.

It's the main reason I decided to become active, so I decided to vote yes.

Quote:All I know is people used to bitch and complain EE was getting too serious with cultural and political topics that weren't fun and playboyish enough anymore. Now no one can say that. If you don't want serious things you don't have to see them.
I'm honestly surprised to read that. We should all be advocating discussion of such topics, especially when in other places it's censored or lost in a sea of irrelevance. If people only care about fucking women and naught much else there are other, more appropriate communities out there for them.

If I come across a bit hostile btw, it's intended. I regard everyone here to a higher level than my own, so it's a little distressing to read some fellow users perhaps don't give a damn except whether they're getting some pussy.

I like the set up. It keeps the EE section lighter and more enjoyable. Not to mention we can keep certain threads close to the top of the discussion such as the Liberal Triggering Gifs thread.
