What types of careers will your direct your future children towards?
I'm no where near the age where I want to have a child, but when I do, I want to push my future son into a trade, despite what the liberals say about everyone going to college, and, if I have a daughter, I'll likely push her towards something like interior design. What about you guys?

I'll be giving my kids "a small loan of a million dollars", they won't be working for anybody but themselves.

The best profession one can aspire to be is a medical doctor. Ideally, I would like my child to be fluent in a least one other language bedsides English. Ultimately, if he is self-reliant, a good human being and generally contributes positively to society, I will have done well.

It depends on how you look at it. If I want to make bank in my 40s and beyond then yes a medical doctor would be a good choice. You will find yourself grinding away in your 20s and early 30s with heavy hours, not much social life (other than your fellow doctors, and not much time to improve in other areas in your life.

I put my vote into chemical engineering/aerospace engineering which would lead into consulting. Good pay at a young age, leads to connections in many fields, and the ability to go off into many areas.

Well, Europe looks like it's going down the drain so maybe survivalist. Right now (at age 39) I'm leaning towards possibly no children.

Run of the mill doctors are not entirely safe from automation.

I wouldn't push my kids towards any particular career. I don't know what the world will be like then and I don't know what they'll be good at. I'll teach them the virtue of hard work and competencies that will never become obsolete (unless human nature changes), such as sales, critical thinking, responsible risk taking, etc. The specifics of what they do is entirely up to them.

What types of careers will exist for the next 30 years, would you guess? Those which will not be automated...

What macro trends do I see, and how to best prepare for them?

Ideally the family business, whatever that ends up being.

Computer science and IT are hot now, but in eighteen years everyone will realize that coding is a commodity skill.

Not all jobs in the military are combat. My children could go in as officers if I get them on the right track when they are young, also each branch is different.
The military can open doors if you research, and know what your getting yourself into.

RE: What types of careers will your direct your future children towards?
I would leave it up to them to choose. I will focus more on morals of a strong family bond and to work hard at whatever career they choose (no lazy behaviour like Gen Y). Living a more primal life such as a farm environment with a vegetable patch and spirituality. I don't want my kids to think lots of money is the source of happiness like westerners do. Greed is the source of misery where I believe money to get by with savings is all you need. The rest makes you a slave to material goods. My parents always said to me "it's not how much money you have but how you spend it." They never touched a credit card which is another moral I will install in my kids. Self control such as saving your money is how you gain personal power.

I'll be living in the East away from the city where Western valves are more uncommon. Traditional valves are more towards the county where if I have a daughter, she will learn that looking after her man and family is number 1 (like most NORMAL eastern women learn) and a career is second. This is how you live a life of happiness, not by being a corporate slave. She will also learn to spot a good man that's half alpha/half beta with strong family valves.

All my kids will be swallowing the red pill soon as they pop out into the world where I'll be seriously educating them about life compare to most parents leave it up to school teachers. TV time and internet will be minimal and limited.

Doesn't really matter: you can push all you want but it won't make a difference. Kids do what they will in the end. As for lucrative careers 20+ years from now . . . who knows? Nothing is safe from automation.

Not as a dentist. I'm jealous on some of my friends that will be 25 when being an official dentist making bank, and having the option to work two or three days a week.

Isn't the grass always greener on the other side of the fence? I would say a lawyer, but I would be projecting something I decided not to pursue because of the extreme cost involved.

In all reality, a trade job would be suitable for the near term future. Until the robots Google is working on creating become the size of a man with the dexterity of a human, these jobs will continue for a time to remain sheltered from automation.

A young guy who took higher level math classes in high school would be almost certainly guaranteed an electrical apprenticeship. Decent money with the ability to end up anywhere in the country, or even the world if desired.
A good bonus to the trades would be an environment that has almost escaped time; it is still mostly male dominated. A good place for a man to be a man.

A daughter would be tough to raise. Accounting perhaps? Veterinary medicine?

They say, we will work in the future in job we don't know that exist now. Workplace change so fast. And I've seen it to much. Parents that want to push their failed dreams and ambitions into their kids. A disaster. Rise better their intelligent and make them emotional stable. Teach them practical skills about life. Not a form that they stick to.

Anyway I will rise them to warriors - European civil war and financial collapse incoming. Then they will take what they need from your kids that just chosen a career.

We will stand tall in the sunshine
With the truth upon our side
And if we have to go alone
We'll go alone with pride

For us, these conflicts can be resolved by appeal to the deeply ingrained higher principle embodied in the law, that individuals have the right (within defined limits) to choose how to live. But this Western notion of individualism and tolerance is by no means a conception in all cultures. - Theodore Dalrymple

Business Owner and Sales. Everything else is just conversation.

Think about it, every year we graduate more doctors and expand the medical industry and we live in a nation of fat fat fatties killing themselves miserably or getting hooked on pain pills.

We keep producing more and more lawyers that screw us on TPP and erode our rights by going corporate, creating an overly litigious society.

It's a moot point because by the time your kid grows up, the entire job market can be radically different. It's really about training your kid to be a persuasive leader that can learn and re-learn new skills as the economy changes, and convince others to work on their behalf.

Medical professions are becoming saturated and with the tuition debt theses days it may not be a good ROI in the near future. It's all about risk reward, becoming a doctor is medium risk and the rewards are okay - you won't be rich but well off. The DHV value it commands is diminished in the anglosphere as well thanks to daddy government bail outs.
