Then why does rap sell... being a whiny bitch doesn't sell, which is the main problem of this album.

Kanye moves mad units. He moves units, specifically because he's a whiny bitch. The best shit on his new album, Real Friends, is a god damn whine fest.

Drizzy? (Drake for you non-Americans)

Whine and Cheese. Mad fucking units.

Mack?

His white fans that were digging his gay rights stuff on the first lp, were also big fans of Thrift Shop - which is finger wagging at people who spend a lot on labels, which is Donald Trumpese for Black people.

RE: Macklemore's "white privilege" album bombs
Same thing happened to John Lennon.

When he first came out with a political slogan, "Give Peace a Chance," people bought it. It was a relatively bland saying and it's hard to argue that peace is bad.

But a few years down the road, he came out with an entire album touting his politics, "Sometime in New York City." It had songs with titles like "Woman Is the N**ger of the World." The public said "No thanks" and the album stiffed.

The moral is that it's fine to expect an audience to get behind a feel-good, quasi-political idea. But it's a huge mistake to think they're going to go all in for concepts that dump guilt on them, point the finger at them, and tell them they're the ones that are the problem.*

Beyond that, musicians who deal specifically with detailed politics tend to have a short shelf life, commercially speaking. Bob Dylan realize this and got out from sloganeering early on. Public Enemy watched gangata rap steal their thunder as they continued to prattle on about politics to an audience who had become disinterested.

If you want to sing like you're a sociology textbook come to life that's all well and good, but expect to have an audience the size of Billy Bragg or Bruce Cockburn's. (And if you don't know who they are, that sort of makes my point).

* The only musician I can think of who could actually pull this off was Frank Zappa, but he leavened his message with humor and played for a cult audience, not the masses.

Remember this all about power.

Status exists in a state of flux as the various identities struggle to be top dog.

Gays, having fulfilled their function with Gay Marriage, are already being publicly-called out in SJW media as possessing 'too much privilege'.

This will be what eventually happens to the Black Community.

Remember: Social Justice is really all about handing power to White People from Wealthy, Privileged Backgrounds who naturally gravitate towards Marxism. Recognising Privilege is simply a polite Lip Service, the marginalised will never be allowed to hold power, which is why Black Lives Matter is largely funded by a White Greek Male.

As such, if we want to destroy Social Justice, we need destroy the concept of the White Woman as being in any way marginalised in society. Infiltrate, subvert, offer up an academic rationalisation: White Women aren't allies, they are thieving Minority Status from actual minorities by trying to roleplay marginalisation, and shouldn't be allowed to hold any political power in Social Justice organisations. Fuel the resentment.

If there's no power in Social Justice for White Women, and they're made to shut up and behave, they'll abandon it.

Eh, it wasn't so bad. I like to think both Bush and Kerry were horrible, just in different ways. Macklemore is a little punk. Fuck does he know about growing up ghetto, unlike Eminem who grew up piss poor and was pissed on and beat up by black kids when he was a young'n?
Plus Eminem never actually apologized for that "Foolish pride" song. He just Trumped over that shit. That's how you move units. Not by being a whiny bitch.
Of course a lot of black people are going to think " yo, this guy's gonna profit off of a song about black oppression, and he's white. He can't do that". It's a race to be the biggest victim. Macklemore, as a "privileged white male" will never have the same degree of authenticity as a black artist on the issue of "privilege"
Fucker tried to pin the gawd Em's success on him being white. It backfired hard, and this is his downward spiral. What's a middle class white guy going to rap about anyway? Should have at least made a Donald Trump song.

RE: Macklemore's "white privilege" album bombs
I've thought for a long time that Macklemore is some type of corporate shill. When the Microsoft store opened in Honolulu, they threw a concert where he was the headliner.

If you google it,it looks like Mackelmore does this at all the Microsoft stores. I doubt this is because he really likes Excel.

He speaks out against all this injustice, and gets paid by,the man to do it.

The guy is just some type of media plant.

Aloha!

Except black people have the same rights as everyone else.

Instead of focusing on things like: equal outcome, "white privilege", and race.

Let's focus on: criminal justice reform, police reform, and education reform.

The second category of issues will make American society better for everyone, the first category divides us.

We do but that's not the point.

The point is that if SJW-sim was a chess game ...

Black people would be the pawns, Hispanics would be the knights, Muslims would be the Bishops, non-white females would be the castle/rook , LGBT people would be the queen. The most powerful piece is the Queen & the least powerful are the pawns. All of them serve the most valuable piece of all - the King. Which would be middle/upper-middle class pretty white females.

There's a SJW hierarchy.

Gays are more way more valuable than blacks. Which is why Macklemore's "Same love" song featuring the Queen won so many awards but the white privilege song talking about the easily disposable pawns is a disaster.

He should have picked a more valuable piece. Muslims and illegal immigrants are hot right now.

For a while I was trying to decide whether LGBTs or blacks are the gold medalists in the Oppression Olympics. At this point I think LGBTs are the top of the heap even though blacks are still silver medalists and are still pretty up there when it comes to being favored by SJWs. A lot of this has to do with the SJWs themselves. A lot of them are middle to upper class college educated young people and they have grown up with a lot of privileges - to use a word they love to abuse - that comes with being in that socioeconomic class. As much as they love to white knight for BLMers and love to race troll on behalf of minorities there's a sense they are still outsiders, hence why pasty white guy like Macklemore rapping about white privilege can never come off as 100% congruent.

With LGBT issues however, so many of the causes associated with the LGBT social justice crusade are prime examples of first world problems, such as insisting that someone call you by the correct pronoun. If the worst thing you have to deal with is someone refusing to make a wedding cake for you, then you have a pretty charmed life. This is what makes it easier for SJWs, which as I mentioned before are composed of people living relatively comfortable lives, to relate to such issues. They'll never be able to really know what some black guy getting beaten up by a bunch of cops feels like no matter how much they try but seeing some gay dude get called a homo by a random passbyer will trigger images of the time in high school gym class they got thrown into a locker by the quarterback.

It's true that if someone is hardcore about LGBT issues chances are they'll be pretty sympathetic to BLM type issues too but if they absolutely had to pick one or the other then the LGBTs are gonna win out.

Think about what you are saying for a second here.

In this game, the left (which includes Democrats, progressives, and the mainstream media) is essentially using their constituency as pawns as a way to attack and discredit the right (which includes Republicans, Fox News, and conservatives) over social issues while simultaneously ignoring systemic issues that harm their constituency today.

Just sit down and really let that sink in.

Edit: I could be wrong though. It's hard to keep track of what goes on in the Senate and the House where the real action is. Most of what we all see is surface level stuff filtered through the media.

Also, part of this is that I have seen Republicans like Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Rand Paul talk about the issues facing their constituents in an open way whereas the Democrats that I have seen seem to focus more on attacking Republicans.

I really think the Democratic party should be more inward looking because there are some people in their constituencies that are struggling who probably need more attention than what they are getting. One person who comes to mind is Dianne Feinstein who was looking to send some of the extra rain water to struggling farmers in central valley in California earlier this year.

Already achieved in the 1980's for the first two, and the 1970's for the latter. People from marginalised communities are victims of society and aren't responsible for their actions has been the dominant policing and criminal justice mantra for a good thirty years, and it turned my hometown into a warzone where the police throw up their hands in defeat because they know there's nothing they can do.

Not true.

There are serious criminal justice problems that disproportionately affect the black and Mexican community. One of the main ones is the war on drugs and this can be backed by statistics. We should be working to legalize drugs in a fashion similar to Portugal. The usage of drugs actually went down after they were legalized in Portugal. This would reduce the incarceration rate for the black and Mexican community, and in addition to this the U.S. would be able to tax and use that money to fund mental health institutions to help people overcome their addictions. It would also eliminate the cartel and bring the drug establishment under the regulation of the government.

There is clear evidence that the racial biases of the police affect their behavior. One solution that has been started is the proliferation of body cams as a way to hold police accountable for their actions. We could work on proliferating body cams for police and making the footage more accessible to the public in order to hold the police more accountable for their behavior and to curb negatively biased behavior.

As far as education reform goes, I do not believe that education in the U.S. is satisfactory for a heterogenous society. It seems that post de-segregation days, the method has been to transplant the educational apparatus of the white community onto all other communities rather than to work from within the communities.

Those are my thoughts. I think these are the larger issues that have a direct affect on the outcomes of people's lives and ones that we should be focused on.

Stanning up the wrong tree here, unless the assumption is that poor whites never grow up to be SJWs. Macklemore has been inserting SJWism into his raps from the start. Eminem releasing a single to try to be a player in a presidential race was completely incongruous.

In Germany we have this minority card game.

Quote:But every child knows: the selfish demands of minorities harms the common good because they decompose our dominant culture. We can not tolerate! The aim of the game is therefore to make as many minorities as possible muzzled. The most effective way to accomplish this we unasked assimilate them into our community of values and put off their confusion with second-class rights. As the largest community of values is always right, wins in the end, the player who gained the majority of minorities.

mrgreen

We will stand tall in the sunshine
With the truth upon our side
And if we have to go alone
We'll go alone with pride

For us, these conflicts can be resolved by appeal to the deeply ingrained higher principle embodied in the law, that individuals have the right (within defined limits) to choose how to live. But this Western notion of individualism and tolerance is by no means a conception in all cultures. - Theodore Dalrymple

@Rutting Elephant, I do believe that poor whites are much less likely to be SJWs. Eminem's attempt at a rallying cry against Bush is debatable. It was better rapping, in any case.

Macklemore is what I call a "Triple J rapper/musician"

There is a radio station in Australia called triple J, probably the most listened to in the country, that loves to play the shit out of songs that tackle leftist issues regardless of the quality.

Meanwhile, the Weeknd will pen a song abut getting high, fucking a chick and throwing up glass and it will sound better than Macklemore's crap.

I'm a working-class white guy from Canada, so tell me if I talking out of my ass here, but I'm thinking that young black guys in America go buy flashy, expensive clothes and jewels to swagger. Why are they swaggering? Because after struggling all week, especially if you live in some shithole neighborhood, you can hit the menswear store on Saturday and buy something that makes you look and feel like you're top class. You too can be a baller, if only for that day before it's back to the grind.

Who the fuck is some white suburbanite, Bernie Sanders loving motherfucker like Macklemore to come in and rap about how that's wack? Is that the best use of their money? Maybe not, but it's their money to do with what they see fit. I'm not gonna look down on anyone for buying something nice for themselves now and again.

After hearing Thrift Shop and that gay marriage song, and after seeing how sheltered white hipsters took to him like flies to shit, I knew Bud Bundy's, whoops I mean Macklemore's days were numbered. Those 15 minutes are running out.

Here's some extra footage of Macklemore before he got famous.
