My first thoughts of ever wanting to sail were inspired by Alby Mangels. I remember as a young teen watching his show on the travel channel and thinking what an incredible and interesting adventures he's having. He would sail his catamaran to different places and always had a different woman with him.

RE: Nasa Test Pilot (NTP) Appreciation Thread
This is all just so comical and bizarre. Where did this passionate desire to defend fictional characters come from? The guy was as obvious a fraud as you could possibly get -- I'm not sure how he could've made it more farcical without claiming he's a King or President and that he invented a medicine too. And yet he's stirred up in-group fighting over him?

I remember a user who claimed far far less: Killface. In response to his claims, everyone bombarded him with demands for proof. which he then supplied thrice: financial evidence to a high-repped member, interviewed by PM about oil sands knowledge by another, and even a pick of his abs holding a piece of paper with "RVF" on it. And even after that, people were second-guessing him -- which lead to him eventually getting pissed off and then banned for it. And he was an actual winner.

This NTP guy could've proven it at any time. Body pic, redacted NASA pay slip or program acceptance pic, turning ignition on his boat pic, probably a bunch of other things, all holding "RVF" in the pic. And not only didn't he do that, few if any demanded it until he pushed a bit too far into absurd and got caught out (China stuff).

This has made me wonder, like many others, what the nature of 2016 RVF actually is. The other day I was reading some 2013 posts and it was amazing. Even members like Samseau were weighing in with legit game advice. It was a completely different place.

I guess we'll see where things go if Trump wins the election. I'm guessing the tone will change again.

^^ Let's not start that again. There was already a 20+ page debate on it which was wisely shut down. This thread, as its title suggests, is not about that.

Anyway, I think all us NTP "fanboys" should start new hashtag activism movement. I propose:

^ Ed, this thread's still open though, and I wanted to share my thoughts on the matter since I'd previously called it out as "the second coming of GManifesto".

I also don't think just closing those threads mid battle is healthy. You can't make a dispute disappear by hiding it and silencing it -- it will simmer in the background. It will reduce cohesion, not improve it.

In all other walks of life, someone of higher social hierarchy weighs in and tries to diffuse it by eliciting common understanding, addressing differences, and explaining roles etc. It would've been better if a mod had been used for this purpose in the thread and the thread left open.

I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure Roosh didn't shut the other thread down just so that the internecine fighting could move on to other threads.

I think there's a good chance NTP signs up as a new user with a new fake persona

RE: Nasa Test Pilot (NTP) Appreciation Thread
About the original thread that has been closed: Seriously, what did we learn?

1. Believe an outrageous new member and legitimize him few a hundred rep points.
2. Find out it was all a hoax.
3. Give the whistle blowing new member a dozen rep points.

And the new guy is inoculated against suspicions with an immediate forum-wide presence. Obviously this forum is under surveillance and has been for a while. It is definitely a threat to have so many smart and aware guys gather information, analyzing it from a global perspective and influencing many people.

Not saying this new poster is a mole, but at least this shows a way to get a name here: Make a big baller account that says all the right things and make sure the account can be discredited. Collect rep points and status. Make a new account that unmasks the other account and you have gained forum fame and trust.

If NTP gets his own thread, then someone MUST create a LITTLE DARK appreciation thread and bring balance to the force.

RE: Nasa Test Pilot (NTP) Appreciation Thread
I remember when Teedub created a Beyond Borders appreciation thread soon after a tussle over BB's posts and that didn't fly, and Teedub was suspended for the gesture. And there was far less controversy in the first place compared to what just happened. Even though I didn't like the closing of it, I can understand it.

That was a thread for a real, good dude that has provided more genuine value here than the vast majority of us, and who's had multiple guys vouch for him.

Here, on the other hand, we have a guy that is at best a semi-dishonest plagiarizer, and at worst a likely substantial fraud, who mostly wrote autistic technical data void of himself, often copied directly from others, ignored warnings, and reacted very strangely when questioned. But because he created a character who had every trait a young man dreams of we're seeing this adulation and outpouring, which is only made semi in jest. And we have established members going at each others throats on top of it all.

He may have inspired a few guys to look into things they hadn't thought of, fine. But the guy isn't worth any of this.

Americans are dreamers too
