Information Design contest for my next book, Free Speech Isn't Free
So like with previous book covers, I'm doing a design contest for my upcoming book Free Speech Isn't Free. The prize is about $400.

https://99designs.com/book-cover-design/...6324/brief

Quote:For the cover, I would like to focus on the free speech aspect since it will match the title. Possible ideas:

1. Putting a bear or lion in a cage and having him break out of it
2. Having a small army of 90 men face the mob in front of a popular Montreal or Toronto landmark
3. A scene of 90 men on one side against a huge army of weak people, as if it was a war on a battlefield

You have approximately 4 days to submit something, but it would be best to leave extra time for me to give feedback that allows for adjustments.

I'm hoping to release the book on June 13, but it may not make it until June 20.

I'm thinking something inspired by the lone student facing off against the tank in Tiananmen Square back in '89. Use a little bearded figure facing off against a giant monolith that happens to spell out SJW. I don't have the artistic talent to put it together.

Great minds think alike, 'cause I would also have suggested that tank-student faceoff, as it's a timeless representation of how just one man can stand up to a seemingly invincible tyranny, a tyranny that is only invincible because its people allow it to be.

Anyway, I might actually take up Roosh on this, but I don't think I'm the greatest Photoshop wizard out there.

Maybe have an angry SJW mob facing forwards (like they're screaming at the person holding the book), but with zippers for mouths.

Maybe it's my computer/browser- but the book cover attachments at the end of the page don't load properly.

RE: Design contest for my next book, Free Speech Isn't Free
Design needs less detail on the characters.

Instead of male figures you need a mob symbolising the anti-free speech and not the crowd who is backing the man in the centre. Less detail needs to go into the figure in the middle as well.

Maybe a figure wearing a black suit in the middle of a baying mob with an 'X' over his mouth.

In the Trump thread its discussed how Bernie and Hillary fans are looney toons and Trump supporters are the ones being encircled, physically abused and attacked. Nobody with sense of values and intelligence will see the man in the suit as the enemy but instead will actually want to know his story.

^^

The first thing that comes to my mind is "authoritarian" and "1984". Bit too political I think for the book.

Ok. I figured that I was probably off base. Maybe I can tone it down or something.

I was thinking an image of roosh's head with a coin slot/credit card reader instead of a mouth would be a good idea

I'm not an artist but have an idea if someone likes it.

A group of protestors with their hands out and the main figure Roosh is giving parts of himself. I know it has the Mr. Potato head idea, and that it sounds like the crowd is getting their pound of flesh. To me it is the fact of having to give it your all, every part of you in order to exercise true free speech.

Not bad. If I was the main figure and you could put a pro sheen on it, it could be a contender.

Super idea. I relayed it to the designers in the contest.

^^ That's not in the direction I want. Feels like a National Geographic cover.

Great book cover. If your cover uses a more blocky letter font like this it would be perfect. (I didn't upload the image here because it's too big)

Hmm I'm not sure if I like it. Something about the jagged trap gives it a deadly undertone, like I'm about to die.

^^ Thanks & great suggestion. I bought that font a while back, will have a look.

^ Went on your suggestion to replace the previous figure but I see what your saying. Maybe put the trap or traps in the background so it looks like you've sidestepped them?

The idea behind the cover is a play on the wanted poster / wanted man.

Yeah I'm not really sure what this cover is trying to say. You are in the trap, so basically you are the bait. You are extending your arms, inviting people to come closer. So you are luring people into a trap?? And what does that trap have to do with free speech? Why are you in that trap? To me that cover doesn't make any sense.
