RE: Just Married!!
If you marry an absolute cunt, yes, this is what will happen. My parents have been married for over 40 years, and I have plenty of successful marriages in my social circle. That's why if a man wants to get married, he better filter like hell is about to freeze over. I'd say the vast majority of bad marriages and divorces were preventable if the man thoroughly tested a girlfriend to see if there were any weak spots before putting a ring on it. A man's job is to lead and test. A woman's job is to follow and obey cheerfully. If your woman is disobedient or grouchy, next her and find a better woman.

RE: Just Married!!
^ While I agree with part of your post, a good marriage today can quickly turn sideways nowdays. Even with tight game & ethics, a woman can get influenced by everything that's around her other than you, especially the ones below 25.

That's why I believe the saying that most marriages are due to bad filtering is underestimating the fickleness of the women of our time. Too many meb with Game still get burned, but just suffer way less because they knew what was up about the nature of women

RE: Just Married!!
Yes, there are external factors. But even in this crappy environment we find ourselves, there are still good men and women out there. If anything, if a woman proves to be less fickle (no woman or man is perfect) in spite of this terrible culture, then it is easier to identify a keeper and discard the troublemakers. There is always the option to moving to another culture that is more marriage/family friendly too. At the end of a day, marriage and children are a man's lasting legacy to himself, his tribe, and his society. I have my own concerns about marriage, but to discount it entirely is a losing strategy in the end.

I would say that image is more accurate with regards to having children than being married.

Filter all you want, you will be astounded in the ability of a woman to charm and fool you, then change into a despicable harpy when its divorce rape time.

Very true.

Good to see that you are back Howard. I wanted to PM you about something, but I no longer remember what that was. If I remember I'll message you.

There's no perfect formula for anything. But if your social circle is nothing but unrepentant sluts/nasty women with bad tempers, mental cases, etc. and they have the divorce rate to show for it, why are you surprised? Yes, there are plenty of bad women out there. That's like saying to women, don't date or marry men, they are all sexists and will beat you!

Both groups can't see the forest for the trees.

RE: Cartoon shows what it's like to get married
Funny cartoon. Lately my feelings on avoiding this trap for those of us who do get married is:

Whatever your job is, make sure that you learn to love it and enjoy making an honest living. Hell even if a guy works at McDonald's, learn to love it and think of it as a team thing or a competition; it's certainly much better than thinking of it as just a "means to an end" to support some cow you are miserable with.

Traditionally men didn't "just go to work to pay the bills to support wife and kids", there job was their passion, while the wife and kids were just assets.

Today so many men are dissatisfied with their office and services jobs and view themselves as mere "wage slaves", but in doing this they suppress their natural desire to be proud of their work, leaving the woman the only thing they have left to feel proud of and therefore feeling dependent on her.

What I've noticed lately is that miserable married men aren't just miserable because they settled for an ungrateful nagging cow; their miserable because they hate their job and don't take pride in anything they do.

Even though office and service jobs might be a lot less exciting than "macho" dream careers like MMA fighting, auto racing, etc - ultimately I've come to realize that if a man doesn't find a way to take pride in his work, it's on him.

Sadly our modern, progressive culture indoctrinates us to hate work and blame the work we do for why our lives are so utterly shitty; today a "cubicle drone" or "fast food restaurant worker" who says he loves his job is more likely to be ridiculed as some 'teachers pet' than admired for his work ethic.

We also tend to generally ridicule people who work in "boring" or "menial" industries like retail and fast food as stupid or lazy; while there may indeed be some lazy fucks who settle for whatever odd job they can find because they don't have the ambition to do anything else, in reality the trend of condemning people for working jobs which we depend on daily is pretty pathetic, because someone had to do it, not to mention our ancestors such as the Puritan colonists spend most of their lives working menial boring jobs that made America what it is today (and which we now take for granted).

This is just another symptom of the spoiled, progressive disease that arose in the Baby Boomer counter-culture area - which encourages us throw away all of the values that our Puritan forefathers had which helped make America what it is today.

(Most of the self-made millionaires and billionaires of today that I know of, such as Warren Buffet learned to genuinely appreciate the simple joy of honest labor; while the crowd who constantly complains about how much he "hates his boss", how low the wages are, how boring the work is, how they "deserve" better, etc - seem to be the ones who perpetually work menial retail or fast food jobs and never get a promotion.)

-
TLBig GrinR version:

For most of history men's profession was their source of pride; this has been destroyed by the consumer economy which encourages men to hate their "boring jobs" and have nothing left to be proud of than "wife and kids" who they then become dependent on.

Men need to learn to love and appreciate honest labor more than "the wife and kids" regardless of what their job is, since everything contributes in some way to the economy.

---

Other than that, of course the lack of male friendship is the other culprit; service economies like this are more suited to female friendship (which is more about chatter and gossip) than male friendship (which is more about accomplishing a task together); so men having some type of hobby, sport or competitive interest preferably with other guys is crucial. As opposed to the typical beta provider who does nothing in his free time other than binge in front of the TV.

RE: Cartoon shows what it's like to get married
My "filter" is to stay in LTR/engaged status for an extended period of time (I'm thinking 5 years). There's no financial incentive to get married for men, so there's no rush for either of you.

I've already looked into the various legalities of being together and there's no reason you couldn't work everything together without being legally married.

Yes, there is a special snowflake unicorn out there for everyone. You just have to be a real man and find her. Divorce rape is just a myth made up by weak men who couldn't control their women. If you choose the right woman, she will never change her mind 10 years later and decide that she was never really in love with you. If that happens, it is your fault for not thoroughly testing your girlfriend and for having a poor social circle.
And every couple that is still married is 100% happy. They would tell you if they are miserable and trapped in a sexless marriage with a spouse who cheats. So since they are all still married it proves that your soulmate is out there somewhere.
And most important, remember that men and women enter marriage as 100% equals. Family court has absolutely no bias against men and will treat you fairly in your separation and custody battle.

I was discussing this in another thread, but do you have any idea if:

A single dad with an adopted child can seek child support from a live-in girlfriend?

Apparently the laws do often allow single men to adopt. So even though some guys here are against adoption, this strategy might be worth considering. It'd essentially be a reversal of the situation we have now where an ex-girlfriend can file for child support while retaining full custody:

A single man with stable income adopts a child, he then moves in with his unmarried girlfriend:

He therefore is immune to divorce and alimony, has full custody of the kid, and potentially could file for child support against the ex-girlfriend if she leaves the household (much as in some cases a man living with a single mother can be filed on for child support even if he isn't the biological father - I don't see why the same wouldn't be true in reverse either).

EDantes,

"A single dad with an adopted child can seek child support from a live-in girlfriend?"

You are unlikely to ever get this.

"Apparently the laws..."

Let me stop you right there. Family Court is run differently than trial courts and few people are familiar with it. You are at the whim of the judge most of the time and she can set case law aside as she sees fit. So when people talk about how the judge has to follow something they think is the law, they usually don't have a clue. In family court you are completely at the judge's mercy.

That's nice to know, I'd assume the laws would have to at least be consistent but who knows?

If courts can require a man who moves in with a single mom to pay child support for a kid which wasn't his, I'd assume they could require a woman to pay child support for a single dad.
