RE: The TV Series Thread
Here are some at the top of my list:

* Babylon 5
* Twin Peaks
* Farscape
* Hill Street Blues
* Star Trek (TNG and DS9)
* Sopranos
* Rome
* Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi/Syfy version)
* American Horror Story (seasons 1-3)
* The Wire
* I, Claudius (PBS 1975)
* Mad Men
* Ascension (only 1 season)
* Caprica (prequel to BSG 2005, only 1 season)

All approved for deep and entertaining binge watching.

What I would really like to see would be a true to form tv series rendition of The Iliad by Homer -- Fitzgerald translation.

RE: The TV Series Thread
I had not watched the original complete Star Trek series since I was a kid. I just finished watching the entire series a few weeks ago. The writing and the stories are fantastic (although somewhat variable because of the use of different writers, e.g., the use miles and kilometers in different episodes). Probably the most red pill TV series that I have ever watched.

The Captain Kirk character is the ultimate Alpha male, yet he can control his fierce masculine impulses when required by his duties and responsibilities as ship captain. The babes are absolutely stunning -- and their curves accentuated by the mini-skirt fashion of the late-1960's.

The last episode of the series is very anti-PC. In the episode, Captain Kirk becomes trapped in the body of a mentally unstable woman bent on killing him and taking over his command in his guise, because Star Fleet does not allow women star ship captains. The ending is actually rather touching, with Captain Kirk lamenting that "Her life could have been as rich as any woman's, if only. If only [she had accepted her place in life as a woman]." Of course, here is how modern feminists see the episode:

Quote:Cultural theorist Cassandra Amesley states that this episode is "agreed to be one of the worst Star Trek episodes ever shown" by Star Trek fans.[4] Brenton J. Malin sees the episode as a reactionary response to the radical feminism of the late 1960s. Dr. Lester is a "caricature and condemnation of the feminism of the late '60s, evoking a fear of powerful, power-hungry women.... The message seems clear: women want to kill men and take their jobs, but ultimately they can't handle them."[5]

David Greven has a more positive view of the episode, even referring to it as "moving". He calls it the "infamous last episode" of the original series, in part because of the "campiness" of Shatner's performance when portraying himself as a female in a male's body, but also because of the sexist premise that "female desire for power was a clear sign of insanity". While accepting that "the sexism of the episode is indisputable", he argues that the exploration of the idea that man can inhabit a woman's body, and vice versa, gives the episode a "radical" dimension, which he claims implies the interchangeability of gender and sexual identity.

The original Star Trek rocks. Gene was a genius. Sorry I didn't include it in my post above.

These two fine women as well. The blonde is from the skiff prequel to original tv show, I think, and the latter, minus 20 of her gorgeous Andorean years, is quite edible on the main show/line.

RE: The TV Series Thread
I have been watching NYPD Blue, seen the first three seasons so far, and I am really glad to say that it holds up really really well.

The writing is first rate, and I think that partly has to do with the pairing of the main writers, an ex NYPD cop and an ex heroin addict writing professor.

The characters, while each with their own way, also have a distinctly "NYPD Blue" speaking style which, if you boil it down, is using jargon or official speak even when talking about personal issues, and it is a very effective way of showing the discomfort cops have opening up to their families or each other.

The only downside that I can see is the early introduction (This was the 90's) of social justice themes which, while not as pervasive as today, are still annoying. One of these is the forcing of women into roles as homicide detectives, as well as throwing in a gay desk clerk. It is okay though because at least it was still realistic. There are no women beating the shit out of men twice their size, or acting like men are idiots who need to be straightened out all the time.

They don't pretend, for example, that a woman can take down and cuff a large violent perp all by herself, and even though a female detective may try to tell off a partner for protecting her from some of the rougher stuff, it is pretty clear that the writers thinks she is being ridiculous and side with the guys.

There is a blessed fairness to the show, so while you may have a clearly racist white cop, you will also have him dealing with black activists who are no picnic themselves, and the gay characters aren't saints, and neither are the women, and some of the comedy comes from women acting inappropriately.

I think this is the best TV show about cops ever, with great writing, always with clear plots, clear dilemmas for the main characters, and compelling ones too that play into the character's weaknesses, not just random events for them to react to. (Although admittedly I haven't watched "The Wire" yet.)

You get the feeling that though there are clear douches, fools, bitches, and fuckers in the police department, most of them are basically decent trying to get on with life best they can. Also, fair amount of hot females and office romances, as these weren't taboo yet.

Some unexpected comedy as well as truly touching moments that will catch you by surprise. You also get to see loads of actors from before they were famous playing bit parts.

Dennis Franz is the main character, the severely flawed protagonist who holds the whole thing together, year and after year, a kind of accidental leading man when the original star suddenly bailed on the series after just one season. He is fat, bald, with a pock marked face, but he is a superb actor, with so many emotions rising and falling and being fought below the surface, all shown on his face.

Superior storytelling.

“That sig BTW is a very asinine anti-family anti-parent quote. You live in a country where 40% of children grow up without a biological father, yet somehow “the greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents”? Sorry but this is fruity Boomer nonsense.”

Superior storytelling.

Everything you said.

There are only a few top notch cop shows out there, and while I dislike the feds, Twin Peaks is a good part* of the matrix.

During the day, they kill Japs with their F4U Corsairs. The rest of their time they drink, fight, and chase pussy. The Commanding Officer doesn't take shit from nobody.

Just finished Amazon Prime's Jack Ryan. Excellent show. I kinda wish is was more than 8 episodes.

It was funny the writer's added some red pill truth in one of the episodes. Jack Ryan is in France texting this ugly girl American chic he's interested back home and asks this female French cop about his text.

"Hopefully she doesn't think you're creepy.
- What? - American women are different than French.
They can be very uptight."

RE: The TV Series Thread
"Ten Days in the Valley" is a well-done series with good acting, including Kyra Sedgwick and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Adebisi from "Oz"). Each of the ten episodes represents ten days in the abduction of a child. Many well-done (i.e., not stupid) unexpected twists-and-turns in the plot. On the other hand, some definite SJW elements (strong female characters, three different same-sex relationships [although minor elements to the overall story], etc.). Worth a watch.

Recently I watched 2 great series, it's:
-Genius
-Da Vinci's Demons.
This series tells about the lives of two great people. If you are interested in history and great people who had a great influence on our world, I think you will find them interesting. At the moment they are my favorite serials.

I'm enjoying Little Drummer Girl even though the female lead is a total cunt and is pretty chubby. The show takes place in the 70s and she'd probably be considered obese for that decade.

But I dig most John Le Carre adaptations so I will plow on.

I like PKD. Always have. This show forces SJW BS in your face from the start. Although the stories are good and intriguing the show throws so much PC BS at you it is nearly unwatchable. Lesbo scene in first 15 minutes of first episode. Gender flip in episode two. Soy boy hero in episode 3. Et cetera. 6/10.

Anyone watched the Homecoming thing yet? I like John Carpenter, but I am very leery of Amazon in the tv space now that they have their "fuck you" money.
