Actually, the third season will be the final season. That is fair, no point in pushing it into eternity like Supernatural.

Regarding globohomo agenda, it is so refreshing to see that is not pushed, even though it's an Netflix TV series. Just a few scenes with Peter Doppler and trans Benni that serves to characterize Peter's character and actually if you can notice it, it is portrayed as something almost shameful. I don't think we could see characterization on the american TV.

Dark is an amazing series, especially for those who like sci-fi and supernatural stuff. Highly recommend it. The acting is top notch and the cinematography suits the atmosphere the series creates. The story above all is intriguing and at times mind bending.

There are even some red pill moments with a son slut shaming his own mother. The social justice stuff is kept to a bare minimum. The series is plot driven and does not care for implementing any sentimental or political commentary. The different eras that are shown are more seeped into the story's purpose and no blatant exposition is made on how that time's culture and political atmosphere would affect the characters.

This is the kind of series that seems was written by someone who cares deeply for the story and genre. Compare it to GOT and you can see the writers started adding current time cultural and political crap from season 3-4 onwards.

Most actors in mainland Europe who are chosen for movies or big TV series like Dark are trained the classic way - theater, acting school - even the young girls for sure. That is why the characters were so consistent and they added the quirks and behavioral patterns accordingly. Also it was about family, had stable marriages in it - to make it more compelling. All of it is a no-go in Hollywood where you absolutely cannot depict marriages like that.

The best part of it is that it's not even clear who the villain truly is. Is the price of torturing kids to develop a time machine worth it, when you can later create a different time-line and let the murders disappear, the kids being all alive in that timeline? But those are time-travel paradoxes that wouldn't happen in real life anyway. This complexity would also not happen in Hollywood.

I finished most of Parfum, a german series that is centered around a group of former private school friends that all had romantic trysts with one of the girls in their friend group. In the present day she is found murdered so the friends reunite as a try to figure out who murdered her. I don't want to give away too much of the plot but there are some very dark tones to this series also some mystery elements. I thought the cinematography was outstanding. Probably only worth the watch if you're into German dramas, or more gruesome murder mysteries.

I just finished the TV miniseries Chernobyl. It was a little weird that the actors were all British and speaking in British accents. It was a good series, highly historically accurate, apart from some liberties say took in characters, and merging some character and story elements. And it's only like six hours of TV. I think quite clearly the series hit on the negligence of the Soviet officials and their blatant disregard for human life. The series made in Russia so mad, that now Russia is going to make their own series, to fight the narrative of this one. In it they are going to say that the whole thing was the fault of the CIA. Amusing.

The IT crowd is just 12 years old and would have zero chance to be made today:

The same goes for little Britain:

One of the co-creators was gay and they made fun of gays relentlessly, though comedy is a way of acceptence - still homosexuality was always a comedy element in some cultures - never meatn to become superior to normal behavior.

Ah - the good old days of 2006-2008.

In 2030 they will think of our good old days before they had pedophiles as superheroes.

The delivery and look of "You bastard"

The strength!

The gay musical is one of the greatest episodes of TV ever. 25 mins of genius. Almost keeling over laughing. Everything is a set up.

Oh and he part-wrote Father Ted before this.

Great show. Finally there is an American show with strong Asian characters. The lead actor is a hapa though.
The women are beautiful and there is a love scene between the lead asian actor and the white actress, very hot!!!

Highly recommend this show and the action is good.

I started watching City on a Hill. It’s only a few episodes in up here in Canada. Seems pretty good. Boston police / crime series with Kevin Bacon. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are “executive producers”.

More on this. There is a movie of the same name, made in Australia that stars Ben Mendelsohn, Guy Pearce and Joel Edgerton among others.

The characters are the same but the story is pretty different.

Following will be “spoilers” if anyone cares, stop reading.

1) Baz is killed by the police, not a hit orchestrated by his mother.
2) Craig also gets killed by police.
3) The Darren character is portrayed as a weak introvert. Literally nothing about being a fag, other than one scene where his brother (Pope) tells him that he doesn’t care if he is or not in typical big brother hassling fashion.
4) Pope kills Jay’s girlfriend, not Baz’s Wife.
5) Jay is a big rat that turns on the family and testifies. He then later shoots Pope in the head to end the movie.
6) The Smurf character was nowhere near as masculine as the American series portrays her. There is nothing about her persona that gives any hint of power / influence until the later part of the movie where she does try to pull some strings in the police dept.

I get that a series can go a lot deeper with the characters, and there are a few elements that are consistent with the movie, but not many.

No gratuitous homosexual intercourse scenes or ass kicking superwomen in the movie.

It’s worth a watch. In Canada I found it on Amazon Prime.

I just finished watching the second season of "Dark." This TV show is easily one of my favorite TV series of all time. Just be sure to watch it in the original German language with subtitles. The English dubbing is really terrible (the English voices do not remotely match the characters).

RE: The TV Series Thread
I watched this show last night with my wife, and I can not recommend it more highly. It's an independent show on youtube, so don't expect fancy stuff - but it more than delivers on the basics. At the core it's a comedy, but it has enough suspense, drama, action and overall depth to keep you interested.

The narrative is engaging, the characters are well developed and charismatic, there's nuance and subtlety to the plot. The show is about the two house mates dealing with obsession, invasion of personal space and trying to salvage their friendship.

The second season gets darker, more focused on the spiritual dimension to their dysfunctional personalities, and resolves the conflict with a clever twist at the end.

Without any doubt this show is 10x better than any mainstream show in the last 10 years, at the very least.

Way too much gay (licking) stuff in Season 1. Pass.

RE: The TV Series Thread
I've perused through the last 10 pages or so. Here are the shows that I have recently found I like:

The Orville:
Season 1 of this show was legit good TV. They kept the SJW themes to a minimum, and when they did discuss them, they did it in a way that was balanced and nuanced. But each episode had at least one moment where I literally almost fell off my chair laughing.

Last Man Standing:
The original seasons were really good. The new seasons after they got cancelled and picked up by a different network are ok, but they changed one of the funniest characters and the other sister got super fat (I mean gordita). But still worth watching.

Finally, I HIGHLY recommend The Rookie. I haven't seen it discussed, but it is a REALLY good show starring Nathon Fillion. It has everything that a cop drama should have. Good plot, good acting, etc. And the lead actress is HELLA hot (the Asian rookie).

I just hope that they don't go too woke on that - it does not look like that so far, but who knows. The comic is the polar opposite of woke.

It's set in a darker universe than ours where millions of people were affected by a super-power-inducing drug at different levels. We will see - at least it's not a total obliteration like with the woke Watchmen.

I just watched The Boys and I thought it was excellent. I detected almost no SJW stuff.
