RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
This isn't so much what I did this week but it's an ongoing system that I have in place:

* Always make sure I am making more money than last year and anaylze where I went wrong
* Do something fun once a month to signicantly reduce burnout. It's not possible to go hard for months on end.
* Reinvest my money.
* Practice writing as much as possible. I want to one day have a blog/location independent entity that makes enough money to let me do whatever I want.
* Manage my time effectively. Some days I just don't have time to cook and I don't want to eat out so I have canned foods on hand. Double + is I less times per week to throw trash out.

The takeaway is the mindset is important. I have no idea if I will see America fall within my lifetime but I'm proactively preparing for that day.

Working on my programming portfolio and learning different development environments

100% set on turning my coding ability into an income asap

Currently focusing on C/C++, and operating systems/bare metal concepts that make computers actually work in case anyone's interested

Will also potentially be updating my old knowledge of Java from ~Java 7 to incorporate the newer concepts like lambdas, streams, etc.., that might be useful in real, production environments

So this was posted this week and hopefully it will scare some people into taking action. Oh and to add on to that point it isn't enough to work hard which I've seen people do in my industry. If you're not scaling, managing, or managing your time better you will get the short end of the stick. Sorry! Unfortunately America may be cooked even with President Trump in office so manage your time wisely Smile This month:

* Kept working on my side business. Should blow up in a couple years. I'm just taking it day by day so my head isn't up in the clouds.
* Getting a new job that pays more so I have more wiggle room. I'm still in the food industry but I'm doing immediate action items. The food industry made me into a tough mother.
* Met valuable connections. This may play into my business but I can't bank on it.
* Kept investing in long termish assets. Ex: I have real estate shares. I understand this isn't ownership but I'm not owning real estate in America especially with socialism on the rise. Then again if President Trump turns things around I'm still in position to score.
* Checked in on the Donald Trump thread to gauge up on socialism, general trends. I don't give a crap what Trump is eating or whatever horseshit the media is kvetching about. I don't read Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, or Drudge. Not a shot at those outlets just don't want to spread myself too thin.
* Keep using outside resources like disposable containers to cut down on cleaning. Without naming names since I don't like certain companies I might as well cut into their profits since they've screwed me over in certain ways. Besides time is limited and anything that can save me hours down the line will only enhance my ability to make it in this world.

In the horizon/end of the year
* Get a FB or worst case scenario a GF. I don't want to spread myself too thin but I do want to enjoy America to some degree. I will have to address some problems that I have but this is super easy to tackle.
* Continue expanding my side business.
* Land that job
* Keep making valuable connections.

Down the line/Post 2020
* May have to figure out a new country to move to. If we had Clinton as President I would have moved out of America.

Worst case scenario everybody that has their head in the sand and/or getting false useless information about God Emperor Trump gets the Trump Curse. I'm honestly a nice person but I wonder what it will take for people to really just take control of their lives and realize complaining about Trump will be their ultimate downfall. Oh well sucks to be that. Stay proactive guys! And if it isn't obvious I don't mind if like minded people like myself (YOU!) are lifted up. At the end of the day people like liberals are the ones that may very well lose. You still have to do the work but good luck Smile

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
Just started my 2nd year of teaching English overseas, so I've already achieved location independence.

I had a few side hustles before but now I'm rebuilding. Side hustles are good because most TEFL'ers I meet are broke. Not me. And hopefully not you guys either.

I found a new niche and I'm having some great initial success in terms of user engagement.

This year I'm teaching English as well as IT so I've been making some IT related PPT's to show in class. In the medium term that should open the doors to IT training opportunities.

Stuff I've seen on my travels...

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
This past week I decided to drop almost everything but jiu-jitsu, and learned the basics of:
Business founding
Graphic design
Online drop shipping and payment on demand printing
Basic SEO
Basics of instagram marketing

I'm still working on the marketing though, and made a post over in the entrepreneur thread seeking some help from people in the area with more experience than I have.

My niche is really starting to takeoff, and a relatively big name in the field started following my instagram account yesterday.
I'm hoping to launch my store tomorrow, and after that, work my way up to 20 sales a day. Once that happens, I'm quitting my day job and focusing on BJJ and living an actual life full time.

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
I'll admit I was on this board for 3 hours just loling at all the liberal tears since I had a crap day yesterday. So I've stated this before on the forum but I'm a late bloomer (got a car at a late age, still live with parents, owe lots of money to the state for student loans, etc). So yeah I have my problems but what won't happen is me getting blindsided while America crumbles. This is just a general game plan on maximizing my earnings so I can better prepare as well as have a little bit of fun. Recapping this week:

* Saw the thread on remote jobs will look into that. Only heard back from 1 company I applied to and I have to follow up on them.
* Once I land a higher paying job I will plan out another fun event.
* Requested a transfer at my current job so I can double my pay.
* Still in the pipeline of getting a GF/FB. First things first is to get a higher paying job.
* Still working on my side business which will take about 2 years tops for everything to settle. Ideally it can explode next year but I'm not banking on it.
* Kicked back my student loans. I have to do some more research on this since I don't want to pay it out of principal but they can garnish my wages.
* Socked away more money in outside of my control investments. This portion of my strategy will change based on the political environment.

Great post Spaniard! Just saw this!

This week (and lately) I've been trying to clear my head some, as I am totally burnt out. My One-way flight leaves this January, and I am looking for odd construction and moving jobs to build capital, to invest online.

I look forward to seeing yours, and others updates on here!

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
Not the end of the week but I'll still post up updates before I run out of time tomorrow:

* I talked about buying in bulk to prepare for the economy going haywire back in the Trump thread and even just following advice from this thread it's sensible to buy in bulk. I just paid up front for a yearlong CSA. Now obviously there's risks involved like theft, the farmer shorting me for product but that's just what I'm willing to put up with. The pros are from the looks of it I'm not paying sales tax to support the politicians where I live (I have to pay for the merchant fees and shipping though), I'm already saving money from the purchase, I do not have to wait in line to checkout, and I can support a local farmer instead of Amazon Foods. At worst, I just deal with the headaches of a CSA for a year, pick another supplier, or go back to buying from Amazon Foods. Costco is great for seafood and fruit but they don't have grass fed meats I can buy in bulk.
* Kept working on my side business. My hands are tied up at the moment but in a couple weeks this can accelerate. I think everything will fall into place next year if everything goes according to plan. One of the keys to my plan is I establish strict reasonable timelines.
* I have met up with people that can accelerate my career and will be meeting up with more. I honestly need to be more consistent with this networking. This is great since I'm an introvert.
* Still have not heard back from several places that I applied to. I'm still working in the food industry and it only can get better from here. Someone told me about a new place to consider and a couple weeks from now I'll really hop on my job search. I have so much on my plate right now but I'm trying to take advantage of the booming economy.

* I'm not perfect but I need to slightly cut down on reading up on politics here. I also need to stop eating out. I probably do this less frequently than the average joe but eating out is expensive. It kills the purpose of buying in bulk.

Taking a long needed vacation for a month to de-stress, get my mind clear, and get ready for my next career change. Which I'm hoping will be something location independent or at least give me the ability to take time off to travel.

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
I was on vacation for a couple days and had lots of fun. So this is my last post until March.

* Made a valuable connection on vacation. Once I type this post out I'll process my vacation. It was seriously really fun but now it's back to work.
* Heard back from a place so will be getting an interview this week. Have to prepare for that tomorrow. I am transitioning from food industry to another high paying industry. Everything is falling into place. POSITIVITY!
* My current job transferred me over to another location for more money. My pay rate has increased by 66% off the bat, I am on the fence about still staying in the food industry and working on my business. I will figure this out when I experience everything play out, right now I'm just "keyboard warrioring."
* Need to go back to my Obama era days and ignore politics altogether. I will check back in March 2019. Hopefully liberals will be BTFO by then.
* As for my business itself that will take time. Ideally it blows up next year, realistically 2020. Just saying this aloud having some kind of side income that can follow you around will only help you should America go down in flames.

Been working on 2 of my e-commerce websites. Basically searched other products, did my own spin on them (POD), and now marketing it to the masses. Trying to find a winner.

Next paycheque I'm just going to pool a lot of money to test products.

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
I've been working on my business while working my "transition" job. I'm already making more money since I transfered and I even heard I will get another chance to make more money by doing time at another location for my employer ($30/hour). I've stated it before but things will pick up next year due to several factors working in my favor. Even though the midterms was kind of disappointing I'm still staying and investing in America, I just post here to maintain my state of readiness.

Part of my long term 5+ year plan is to pick up another skill. I've been snooping around and have found a class that caters to my needs as well as it relates to my current business.

Kind of cheesy to "stay positive" but that's what I'm doing and obviously taking advantage of the luck and opportunities in front of me. And yes, I have to focus more on my own affairs and not care about politics as much. WIll be taking a break for real.

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
I made 12 Forex trades yesterday and won 8, lost 4, a 66% success rate. Almost the 70% I am targeting.

For 20 years I've worked as a corporate/finance lawyer, since 5 years trying to leave that comfortable but suffocating life. In 2014 I set up an e-commerce business which has been profitable for four years, but brings in just enough to pay the mortgage, wife and children, plus it ties you down as you are restricted to one country.

I was fortunate that through legal work I met a trader of 22 years whose accounts I have seen and who has real money. He has a proven track record and a strategy that works 70% of the time. I am aware that 90% of Forex traders fail, but I am just finalising the legal work now to get capital to trade Forex. It's the perfect location independent work.

But the guy who said it is work is right, it's like a business, really hard work. But I actually like it.

RE: Post what you did this week to become location independent/work remote soon
Like I said before, I'm not leaving America anytime soon, I'm just preparing to be on standby if that makes any sense at all.

* New job is already paying more money and I'm pretty happy.
* Bought supplies to make a trauma kit. Cost me about $120. Just 1 hour to watch some videos and 1 new basic life skill acquired. Political violence and mass shootings is going to keep rising and you/I may save someone's life one day. Doesn't get any better than that.
* I'm not perfect at this but have been more aggressive in cutting down on my groceries. I am even cutting back on ground coffee! If I was a hipster I would be in hell haha! Every night I think about how I spent my money. Today, I just made a mantra that I will read everytime I wake up.
* Not perfect again but am trying to take public transportation more instead of drive. Only had to do 1 shared lyft trip this week because of a certain urgent issue.
* Reinvested money into crypto and paid off some of my debt. I may pay off more of my debt once I establish my cash flow so am super stoked for this!
* Tomorrow I will look into growing my own vegetables for consumption. I juice but costs are getting out of hand. I may grow my own sprouts which is easy to do and buy sprouting seeds in bulk or I may buy a home garden. I'm about to sleep so I want a clear mind when I make this decision.
* Worked on my side business and made some pretty impressive gains. The money from this will come next year, I just have to put in the work.
* Need to avoid the politics section and focus on my side business.

Seriously productive week! Trust me, I'm having a tough time in general but with discipline and a clearly defined goal I have set, I will be in the clear 5 months from now. Hopefully by then I will turn my life entirely around!
