6 Years in Germany - From the perspective of a black guy
I have been on these forums for a couple months now and I wanted to drop some data about my life here as a mid 30s black guy living in Germany. This post might be long so if you are curious... read on!

My background:

I am mid 30s American black guy born and raised in NYC. I consider myself a veteran of the game and been doing nightgame/clubgame since I was about 19 years old. Was pretty damn beta when I first started out but I came a fucking long way to end up banging 8s and 9s at peak performance. Ive mostly dated/been with white European girls and never really had anything significant with a girl outside of that. I have a good amount of notches but I def think under 100. I stopped counting notches as I see its pointless but I think I would have alot more if i dated within/more close to my race. Ok enough about me.

How I got to Germany:

I got into a LTR with a HB8.5 German aupair after meeting at a party. She ended up moving into my place for a couple months before moving back to Germany. We stayed in contact for a few more months before I decided to fly to Europe for the first time and stay with her for 10 days and check it out. We decided then that I would move to Germany for us to be together. She sponsored my VISA for me and in the meantime I went to language schools and learned German. So yes I am fluent in German now as well as English. Fast forward to summer 2012 and we break up (mainly my fault) and she leaves the country and doesnt come back. By this time I have already established myself and got a new apartment and decent income and all is ok.

Where I live in Germany:

I live in Cologne which is the 4th largest city (with a population of a little over a million) in Germany after Berlin, Munich and Hamburg (Which I think are better). There is however a large University presence here with the University of Cologne, Cologne Business School, Hochschule Fresenius. etc etc etc. It is NOT very international at all outside of Erasmus which I think is a MAJOR MAJOR drawback of living here.

My Cologne detailed data report: https://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-1964-page-99.html

Standard of living:

Germany is the economic powerhouse of Europe so for the ambitious I theres alot of opportunity here. However taxes are high as fuck if you are comparing it to life in the US. I'm from NYC so I am used to paying high taxes but over here is another level. Sales tax of 19% is worked into prices of everything here. The only forgiving things here is that rent is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than in NYC and thats where you end up coming out ahead financially. I am able to get a penthouse apartment in the middle of the city for about 1000€ a month. Give or take 100 or 200 depending on market conditions.

Cars are expensive as well as gas since you pay here by the liter and not by the gallon. Theres also a yearly fee you have to pay (mine cost 250€) a year just to keep the car registered. Like most European cities you dont NEED a car because public transport is pretty damn good (but not cheap either)

Food is fairly cheap as well as clothes.. depending on your fashion sense. Since eBay is part of how I earn my income I generally don't shop in the stores but rather online.

Its fairly easy to get into life here as it somewhat resembles life in the US with Mcdonalds, Burger King, KFC, some shopping malls, ZARA, Tommy Hilfiger, Footlocker, One or two burrito places, Apple store... We dont have EVERYTHING here but you get the drift.

Trips - Trips to other cities in Europe are reasonably priced through Ryanair, Germanwings, Eurowings due to being i

Long term living/Culture:

This is where it gets tricky. In the beginning, I would say the 1st or 2nd year here is ok but after a while living here you start to "run out of gas" and things start to annoy you. German is a VERY hard language to learn and you get tired of speaking or trying to speak in a foreign language all the time. TV is German. Movies in the nice movie theathers are in German. 90% of business has to be done in German. If it involves any kind of government employee you can be pretty sure its Hans or Frieda sitting at the desk and he/she will not make an effort to try and speak English with you because you live in Germany and therefore you should learn German. if you make the mistake of not learning the language you WILL FAIL and end up feeling isolated and living in a bubble and end up going home.

--- Everything is closed on Sundays.. No Supermarket, no shopping, no laundry, no noise-----

The expat/foreign community sucks here since Germany usually has lots of openings and easy VISAS for native english speakers who are Engineers/IT specialists. These kind of guys in generally are betas or nerds and you will have problems meeting and connecting with fellow American men. All the other men here outside of this are usually in LTRs with German girls and are just rare in general.

There is lots of paperwork to be done here as well but ill save that info until someone asks me for it.

The younger people, depending on education level, can speak English reasonably well and of course this level will decrease the older you go (the school system changed). The uneducated people regardless of age will have problems with English.

The food here in the beginning is fine but over the long term starts to bother you. Its a matter of opinion but I think the food in the US is leaps and bounds better than here. If any of you guys have restaurant experience and want to come to Germany and open a REAL American restaurant I think you could make a SERIOUS KILLING. There are so many knockoffs with shitty food here its not even funny.

Culture continued:

Germans are ,with the exception of their Nazi time, proud people. They do things the German way and they will think their way is the best way no matter what you tell them. Even if things are done wrong, better or could be done another way they are pretty inflexible when it comes to this kind of thing. There are programmed behaviors here that people do and have no idea why they do them.. even if it makes little sense. Education is everything here and people will study until the end of time since it is subsidized by the state. It doesnt matter if you need the additional education or not.. The more certificates you have MUST mean that you are more qualified than the next guy.. which is ridiculous.

Ultimately I am mostly likely going to end up leaving the country for England or another country.

There is alot more I could write on the culture but I feel the post is getting long winded and I will elaborate more upon request. Now on to the girls.

German women:

Out of all the notches I have in my life most are German notches. This is because in addition to me living here for 6 years Germans are avid travelers (although you will find some who never really leave) and most of the aupairs in NYC are German.

I guess with the general opinion on the forum that the average German girl is not the best looking in Europe but there is DEFINITELY quality to be had here. You HAVE HAVE HAVE to know where to look. They are most likely found at electro/EDM music festivals, those types of clubs and of course high end nightclubs with bottle service and tight doors.

Hip Hop and reggae parties will yield girls as well but not as high as the types mentioned above. There is a salsa community here as well but I dont mess with that.

This probably goes without saying but German woman will prefer German men over a foreigner. So your exotic factor is not super high and wont easily get you laid.

Tall, white, blonde haired, blue eyed, fancy haircut guys DOMINATE the best girls out here. You will see what looks like "the same guy" with all the nicest girls here. This will also be evident in online dating profiles which girls will specifically mention most often height and secondly eye color as prerequisites. (which annoys me). Alot of girls ask for a height of 1.80m or 5 foot 10 at a minimum. I am 5,10 so luckily I barely made the cut.

ONS are common here and if your game and looks are on point girls will sleep with you fairly quickly. Tinder and Lovoo are the leading online dating platforms and it is possible to get dates and hookup from there alone. One of my German boys only gets laid from there.

The women here are thin and less curvy compared to American women and most girls here are just plain white chicks. Lots of blondes, blue eyes and brunettes.. not many redheads. If curves, a big butt and big tits are your thing then forget it. I love big tits so that kind of annoys me. You get tired of thin girls after a while.

Women are fans of American culture and alot of American things are copied. You will see girls walking around here in Baseball caps and NFL jerseys and have ZERO fucking idea of anyone on the team or anything. Its just a fashion thing. Major copycat culture here in some aspects which can make it easier to game.

- Turkish/German girls - The Turkish girls will mostly date Turkish guys and the occassional German guy but if you are Black you can fucking forget about it. 6 years here and I have slept with 1 Turkish girl and she was an ex aupair from America.

-African women: There is a African community out here and of course African women but honestly im just not really attracted enough to look into getting one. I find African American women better looking.

Life dating as an American black man in Germany:

So now on the meat of this for my fellow brothers who are thinking about getting out the US.

I think dating white for me in NYC was hell.. Its no poosy paradise out here but I would def not describe it as hell. I am a little frustrated as im very ambitious when it comes to the level of women I want but it is bounds ahead of NYC in my opinion and i do reasonably well.

I think it will vary per city but if you don't LOVE white chicks/white people I'm not sure Germany is gonna be the best place for you. There is no black American culture outside of Kaiserslautern where the Armed Forces bases are. So forget about that beef patty or soul food or any of that stuff. You will be lucky to get a really good hip hop party.

Nightclubs - There is a problem here with racism and it doesnt come from the doormen. it comes from the owners inside the clubs. If its not a hip hop or black club odds are you could have a problem to get in. They WILL discriminate against Arabs, Turks, Blacks and anyone who doesnt "look German".

- I get around this problem by not rolling up with other blacks, getting to know doormen, rolling with white germans, and SUITING UP if I know we are going to a strange, new high end place. Maybe im crazy but I do not travel and stay in a unfamiliar city in Germany without a suit with me.

- I have not really seen them do much bad with my own two eyes but Africans don't have the best reputation in the country. I think this partially stems from some coming here from poor countries as refugees and not bettering themselves. Alot of them just work as package delivery drivers or bathroom attendants for some reason.

- Women CANNOT tell the difference between you and an African. So that means catching a girls eyes from across the room and approaching this way will most likely be out of the question. She will only notice you are American when you walk over there and open her yourself... DO NOT WAIT or think "i wonder if shes into brothers" just go over there and open and youll find out for yourself. Never assume she is or isnt into black guys.

A. there have been girls I could have sworn on my life were into black men and they were not and vice versa. Just go and try and figure it out for yourself.

- As an American black guy you will be able to crack into places other Africans cannot. Germans respect America and Americans and once they hear you speak English and they will sometimes apologize for their English and pander to you. This also translates into girls and girls will consider sleeping with you when they have never tried a black guy before.

I would say I generally outperform the African guys on quality. They have success with German women as well but usually of the 5 or 6 level.

- Young women, well traveled, old aupairs and hip hop lovers.

Young girls (college girls 19 to 22/23) are hot spots for black men. They are much more willing to give you a run. This is where you will get the best quality 8s and 9s. Their English is usually the best and some of them even study in English. They generally arent the most well traveled but are curious and just want to have a good time and enjoy life. My last HB8 was 19.. first year college student and a ONS.

Old Aupairs are girls who have probably stayed in the states for 1 or 2 years and are now back in "Boring Germany" Their eyes will light up when you tell them you are from the states and from there its game on.

Well traveled - The more the girl has traveled the less tied she is to German men.

Hip Hop Lovers - Not ALWAYS but if the girl listens to alot of hip hop or is found in a black club odds are she is into black guys. However, just like the states. These girls tend of fall to the lower class side of things. Not all but youll have to watch it. I prefer the girls in normal or high end places. They usually have high intelligence and are degree seekers and not just working as a cashier at a corner store or some dumb shit.

The older 24+ girls can be done but I find it gets harder the older they get. Not that the girls are harder to game but the resistance goes up and quality goes down. My oldest notch in the country was 39 but there is a correlation to age and how open they are to date us. I feel like the older prettier girls gravitate more toward traditional German guys as they start to look for a stable relationship.

I could do a write up on how to game German girls in nightclubs here but I think ill stop this post for now.

I hope this has been helpful for you guys and I look forward to answering any questions about Germany that you might have.

Thankful to have this forum.

Awesome, looking forward to more posts from you.

At what age did you move there? And how did you go about making friends with the locals? I'm currently in NYC as well, I love it here but it's been a dream of mine to actually live somewhere abroad for at least a short while. I'm early 30s, I know it gets harder to make friends as you get older, but I'm sure some cities/countries are easier than others.

More please.

I consider German women to be highly underrated by both black and white men.

Can't say I see much of the like floating around Berlin too often.

Cologne (and Munich) are always a nice breadth of fresh air for me, just for the fact you see some of the non-alternative freak shows of women like you showed in your photos above when compared with Berlin. Don't see those types walking around too much here, and only know a few good night spots to find them in.

I moved there when I was 28... It hasnt been easy for me to make REAL friends although I have a bunch of "party friends" that I can go out with.

I have always have trouble making friends though. On a personal level im not a "normal" guy. I don't have typical hetero male hobbies.... I dont give a shit about watching sports on TV, I dont go to the stadium to watch games, I used to play video games but not really anymore... things like that.

I dont have time for chicken shit guys who are scared to talk to girls either.

What it pretty much boils down to is your personality in my opinion. I find I gel better with guys from NYC.. and more sales/finance guys.

I haven't researched Berlin enough but Cologne feels like a large villlage and after a few years you get quickly bored of living here. Hamburg and Munich im sure are 100% better. I am probably going to party a little more in Hamburg next year since its not really far at all and I have a room there if i need it.

Really good datasheet, +1.

I need to get out of the politics and war section more often. Are things safe on the ground over there?

I have never been robbed, threatened or hit by anyone PERIOD.

German dudes get jacked up and beat up but never heard of a brother getting robbed, pick pocketed or anything.

The price of gasoline has nothing to do with it being sold in litres. That's just a unit of measurement, like measuring the temperature in either degrees C or F. In Canada it's sold as $/L but it's the same price roughly as the US.

The reason it's expensive is because Europe is socialist so they tax the shit out of it and they produce / refine much less than North America so import costs are higher.

Girls in those pics are simply stunning.

I heard a few years back Usain Bolt was treated like a god when he went to Germany. I chuckled when I saw him at the recent Octoberfest in Munich. His smile said it all.

Unfortunately it turned out to be a disaster.

The owner of the club and I had a disagreement and it ruined the entire event. It even ended up costing me some plates.

I am going to re do this event in 2017 and I have another idea for another one. Since lots of people showed up I KNOW the event works and I will redo it next year at a brand new location and work with new people and from learning what i learned last time.. Im sure it will work next time around.

Live and learn!

Nice. A few years ago I thought about creating a facebook page
that would talk about all the upcoming parties in Frankfurt and show all
the local party pics from the previous weekend...and build up an audience so that
you can expand your circle.

The only catch is that it takes time to build that kind of following
when you could be out making more money. Still if you have connections
it could be a great platform.

Great Data sheet and interesting read, pros and cons of Germany seem similar to what i've experienced in Wien,Austria. That it is nice for living, but boring and a can be tiring making meaningful friendships and things can seem a bit dragged out after some time.

I would also endorse the pros and cons. I'm on year 4, I loved in Hamburg, Bremen and now small town near Leipzig. Also worked in Rostock and Sassnitz. Being an engineer lots of small things that Germans do /society considers normal annoy me and it can wear on you.

One thing I would add with your cost of living, food and (german)beer is much cheaper in germany even with 20%vat.
I saw recently at Aral the amount of tax on 1 liter gas is €0.80.

+1 from me bro for describing your experiences.

I've publicly as well as privately stated i'm a big fan of Germany, but i'm also overly cocky and don't let social norms affect my game at all. German people are proud, but i'm used to dealing with those types in my daily life so the personalitys don't rub me wrong. Also I have no problem telling a German "That shit makes no sense, shut up."

Guys of all races beware though, some of these german dudes are tall, slender physique and chiseled jawline despite how corny they may come off that's tough to compete with. If you're a naturally funny guy though, you should do fine. I'd say almost every girl I cold approached and made laugh I got their digits easily.

I'm looking forward to gaming with you and hanging out when I return early next year. Eagerly waiting for my next Döner!

A lot of good info.
What you're describing is classic culture shock. There are definite stages to it and eventually you get to the stage where you learn to take the good with the bad. You enjoy things that are better there than at home, and find ways to deal with things that are worse. You learn to deal with bureaucracy, different social norms, where to find familiar foods, and soon. Eventually you come to the realization that things are "different" and accept it, and realize that if you wereto go back home you would find things there a bit frustrating because they're not the same as in Germany.

As a brother, I find this comment very "interesting".
I have spent time in Europe: Paris, Berlin and Prague. I have Africans and African Americans friends. All well-educated professionals. We did well. We did not have to parse the whole African/African American label, because each one of us was solid individually.
You know what we had in common? The pride in who we are and the "cool" factor. "Walk like you belong", was our motto.
The problem is trying too hard to fit in and seeing yourself through other people eyes. First the insecurity sets in, then you start questioning your being and people who look like you or whom you might be associated with.

The problem is trying too hard to fit in and seeing yourself through other people eyes. First the insecurity sets in, then you start questioning your being and people who look like you or whom you might be associated with.

Unfortunately this is one of things (in my opinion) must be done in order to ensure entry to certain places here. This is the reality of living in Germany. Its nothing about walking like you belong or trying to fit in. Do you think "Jürgen the bouncer" gives a shit?

I would love to be able to roll up with a bunch of well educated, well dressed brothers but you'll spend half the night arguing and all kinds of shit. Ive said it on the forum numerous times that people end up suing these places but in the end it doesn't change anything because so many people in Germany are unaware that this sort of thing is happening.

I have tried talking to Germans about it and they just say "well go somewhere else" or "you didn't dress right" or "that place is bs anyway" or whatever dumb shit.

There just aren't enough black people, African or African Americans, for this to make a large media presence and have these places seriously fined or shut down like in the US.

Did knowledge of German help a lot? Did Germans find your knowledge of German to be flattering, or did they not care?

Germans are VERY big on integration so after awhile in the country they will EXPECT you to be able to speak the language at least somewhat. So if you for example, meet a girl in a club or elsewhere and say that youve been in the country for a certain amount of time they will try and check you.

They are impressed if you can speak German since they know its a hard language to learn.

I don't speak German when initially meeting women because I use it as a separation tactic. If they act like they don't understand me or don't want to understand me I will switch to German.

Thanks for a very good datasheet. Though the place itself sounds awful. Very similar to what I have to say about Sweden after 3 years.

Do you mind dropping a datasheet on that. Long term experience posts like ours are hard to come by on here.

Depending on your personal situation Germany can be great.

Like I said there's a lot of job opportunities here if you are in certain fields, if you love the European way of life it's also great and for me personally I have had more success in the field here than anywhere else.

Only time I ever did better than now was when I was a nightclub promoter. But comparing apples to apples I'm winning.

England/London sounds extremely more expensive but also a lot more exciting and easier to integrate in. That's why I'm thinking about getting over there in the next few years.
