This thread reminded me that I should watch Roadhouse and Point Break again, I haven't watched those movies in probably 20 years.

This is my favorite scene from Point Break. Mark Isham's score compliments the scene beautifully.

It was meant completely seriously, in rough form but I speak like that in person.

It's not like we are in here chatting about what Kim Kardashian was wearing on the red carpet. We are showing appreciation for a iconic actor from the 80's that many men here grew up watching. I think we should be able to do that with out you coming in here an calling out us as "Americans" and how stupid we are to like these "clowns." Maybe you should stick to your fucking gypsy thread or keep talking about shoring ugly hookers in Laos in your other thread, that seems to be all your good for.

^ Exactly. Make a thread recognizing the masculine virtues of a man I respect, and I'm 'celebrity worshiping'. Such a compelling argument indeed. We Americans are so dumb, we only wish we could run gypsy game like you, BackUniform.

Cool, even Kelly Lynch reprising her Roadhouse role as Hot 80s Blonde Love Interest.

The only part of her performance in 'Roadhouse' I remember is her lovely bum.

It's not just Americans. Every country has their people who they celebrate.

A celebrity is someone who "perfectly" embodies aspects of human nature. Could be a hero, villain, perfect feminine, dark feminine and all the tortured aspects in between, including what's rife in the culture at the moment.

On one end of the spectrum you have Miley Cyrus and Bruce/Bitch Jenner. On the other a man who heroically takes over and lands a powerless plane in the Hudson River and saves the day.

They are all celebrities. Woody Allen once wrote, "You can tell a lot about a society by who they choose to celebrate"

I guess the country you are from doesn't celebrate anyone? I find that hard to believe.

Anyways....WOLVERINES!!

RE: Patrick Swayze Appreciation Thread
I always loved Swayze too.

Partly because we look a lot alike. I've been told that all my life and one of my friends even tells girls I'm his brother.

Damn google ruins it but they usually believe/find it believeable.

I loved Red Dawn and Outsiders. Both films he plays the badass older brother that is hard but is always there to kick the shit out of people when they cross the line.

Point Break was a coming of age film for me and it made me want to move to California one day (which I did, it sucks).

That scene earlier of the skydiving is beautiful of course. So peaceful in an adrenaline fueled action.

I remember an interview where he said he did most of the fighting choreography for Roadhouse.

When I was working in a strip club in North Dakota people were calling me Dalton.

For the longest time I hoped he would have a real resurgence in Hollywood because it benefited me so much when being out.

When he died I definitely felt a sense of loss.

If he had lived long enough he definitely would have been in some of The Expendables movies.

When people say I'm wrong, that's when I know I'm the most right. - Samseau

RE: Patrick Swayze Appreciation Thread
A Franklin, Patton, Ford Appreciation Thread sounds great why dont you start one? It would go in the deep section of the forum. Reason is it is a deep thinking topic, you have to be in the mood or quite boring compared to discussing Swazies movies. When you watch a movie like Point break or Roadhouse where the leads just completely own the role, like Brad Pitt playing Tyler Durden, and my personal favorite Arnie in Predator. As a pimply faced kid like I was, working at KFC, it takes you away, you dream of better things, for me it motives me. Its all just bullshit of course from someones imagination, but you take from it what you need.

And singers you say? If your talking about Lady Gaga or Justin Beiber I agree. But musicians, they bless us with their talent, make us feel something for the brief moment they are here.

This bit was great for the Australians on here that remember.

Sure they do and more and more the same people as the entertainment is probably the biggest export of USA. But I don't really remember discussing with any healthy male a movies let alone an actor in like 10 years. (Surely the 50kg fags in pink from my country discuss even Miley Cyrus)

However you define celebrity my point was aiming at entertainers. In the past those people were at the bottom of the society playing in pubs and stuff. Now because of internet, TV and radio they are on the top which I don't believe they belong on. Just a few painters and composers had some respect, now it's somebody whose voice sounds nice in the beat and guys that kick into something rounded on the ground.

Because simply those people got nothing to do with me but it would make sense if those guys above would make the thread about them. And it's not deep, deep is discussing Nietzsche or Evola, not Ford or Franklin.

In that sense my statement came across as rude, everyone has their role models, my apology.

Spend couple of minutes on google but still could not see the masculine glory, sorry. Plus points for landing the plane though.
