RE: Barefoot walking (earthing) datasheet
Barefoot walking surely is good for you but probably not because of grounding phenomena. Instead the following five reasons are sure and proven reasons why it is good for you:

1.The feet are covered with pressure points which are neurologically connected to most organs. Barefoot walking on a non-flat surface massages feet and stimulates your whole organism.

You can achieve similar effect by foot massage, but by barefoot walking in countryside you get also to breath fresh air, see beautiful sights and it is less boring and can be done longer and is combined with physical activity - walking, jogging or exercise, therefore it is manifold better then a simple massage.

2. Exposing your feet to grass, its various resins, dew, and insect bites straightens your immune system. Just be careful not to step on something poisonous.

3.Since barefoot walking is the way we have evolved to walk our stance is most natural when we walk barefoot. Yes your stance will slightly change when you are barefoot vs wearing even low heel shoes. Spending time in a more natural stance is definitely good for you.

4.You temper you immune system by walking barefoot when it's chilly.

5.More surface open to absorb sun rays (vitamin D) and fresh air (you do a little breathing trough skin too).

I myself practice barefoot walking in my yard and in beaches a lot during summer and it definitely is very beneficial for you, but the reasons are probably what I have mentioned not some grounding theory which sounds rather pseudo scientific.

Sleeping with copper wires attached is definitely not as good as barefoot walking, and I doubt it does any good at all. Definitely not as sexy too.

Great post, and I fully agree with all of the above points.

This is the first time I have heard of "earthing", but it makes sense to me.

The human body is geared towards walking on the surface of the earth barefoot.

Also very good for posture. After some long, drawn out injuries I started studying and treating them more holistically. Turns out wearing shoes cramps the toes and reduces stability in your stance and posture, a problem that compounds over several decades. I walk barefoot as much as possible now and love it. Feeling the ground under your feet is quite therapeutic after a while.

This is the reason I will not wear Crocs or other plastic shoes. You are using this reality of your feet to absorb all sorts of Chinese waste chemicals.

I was at the va clinic not too long ago and this nasty bastard was all doubled over in pain.

I asked the doctor what was wrong with that guy and he said he had hookworm. He told me you get hookworm from not wearing shoes.

I'm not judging you barefoot guys. Just a heads up. Worms.

Aloha!

I'm in Mexico City right now, and just finished walking barefoot up and down the pyramids of Teotihuacan. Super comfortable and it felt like getting a nice foot massage. Gonna do this more often in my travels around the world. Awesome post, Youngblade.

I've never heard of "Earthing". But it sounds like the Chinese concept of rooting in some ways. And like other general Chinese concepts.

Anyway rooting is standing, or walking so that your body is connected with/"sinking" into the Earth. It improves your energy and phsiology for countless reasons.

Likewise, I'd recommend walking in greenery rather than on paths, and especially over busy roads! Greenery means better oxygenation of the air. And asphalt etc is dirty and basically a pollutant if you are breathing in too much of it.

Biomagnetism seems much like a rewrite of traditional Chinese concepts of chi.

PS the feet are often discussed as a microcosm of the body. So I suspect that healthy feet mean healthy body.
I know people who were treated for organ ailments with special foot massages.

RE: Barefoot walking (earthing) datasheet
The sanitation aspect is the biggest detractor for me and I don't know how much science there really is to support "earthing." I toss into the "it's fun to think about" bucket. I did try out those funky looking 1st generation toe shoes when they first came out. I did feel much freer running, but it was pretty painful and not sustainable (I had to reduce to about one out of three runs per week). I still love running barefoot on the beach though... as long as I steer clear of shells, garbage, and rocks.

While it is true that bare earth, concrete, rock and water (especially salt water) conduct some electricity, this bare earth walking being good for you due to "electrons" just sounds like a load of pseudo bro-science,

If you want to "earth" yourself, just having a bath with your feet on the chrome taps will achieve that. Or if outside, move your hand along a stainless steel hand rail that is bolted to the ground. Or touch metal taps with the water running.

The area around the pyramids is full of grass and "clean" dirt. It was very comfortable walking on it.

If you guys are seriously worried about not being electrically conductive enough I happen to make handcrafted organic artisanal aluminum foil hats that I'm currently selling at a bargain price of $100 each. Each aluminum atom in the hat is guaranteed to have a resistivity of only 2.82e-8 Ohm-meters and comes complete with 13 organically-certified electrons. This aluminum is sourced from ecologically friendly supernovae as well, only having vaporized planets with Republicans on them.

I have noticed that earthing has a big impact on my ayahuasca drinking. When I make contact with the earth, I have much more intense reactions.

So this thread is really about "rawdogging" it (barefoot) vs covering up (shoes)

RE: Barefoot walking (earthing) datasheet
I like barefoot walking and running. The pseudo science is retarded, but I think things like walking barefoot are soothing to the soul, like simply a nature walk or watching the ocean or post workout high or sex.

Of course, if I had it my way, I'd wear only a swimsuit all summer long.

That said, the other day my niece and I were walking through the woods leaving the beach and we stepped right over a tick. There's a decent chance getting bit by the tick would have led to Lyme disease.

And I know I'm more careful if I were barefoot, and probably wouldn't have stepped on the tick.

But I'll keep wearing my flip flops to saunter through forested areas. Just feels a bit safer.

Truth Tiger a bit off topic but in rgeards to your link in your signature is it possible that doctor Peter Glidden is a quack? Here is a youtube video that discusses this possibility.

Yo Mr. AUSucks! Thread derail FAIL. Are you shilling for big pharma or just concern trolling? Do some actual research and start a new thread, because you clearly have important solutions to share for the public welfare.

Japanese temples are also wonderful places to walk barefoot. And, best of all, the locals think it's totally cool. Indeed, anyone who trains in martial arts in Japan and elsewhere in the Far East is often given the threat of being given lessons on cold, ancient stone in gardens and courtyards.

All that is needed to make the experience perfect is an early morning sunrise to being your lessons with.

You don't get a hookworm infection from not wearing shoes, you get it from walking barefoot in dirt contaminated with faeces. As long as you're not earthing on anything close to that, that shouldn't be a worry. Beaches are clean, your front lawn is fresh. Join the club!

As long as you don't walk in the same places the dog ladies bring their "husbands" to poop, you should be fine.
