RE: British Politics Thread
Consider this :

The Tories are potentially going to select a new leader who will go all-in on a Hard Brexit policy they know doesn't have the parliamentary arithmetic

That immediately puts the new leader against a voting bloc larger than their own side

As soon as the new Tory leader puts no deal back on the table they face a VONC and general election they're likely to lose

However, if they don’t do this and travel down the same path they lose what’s left of their supporter base completely

May’s deal is the most unpopular option out of three (no deal, compromise, no Brexit) and they can’t pick the latter either

They are snookered

Is this tweet an accurate portrayal of the current mood?

How about this?

Or this maybe?

Or is it more likely this?

“That sig BTW is a very asinine anti-family anti-parent quote. You live in a country where 40% of children grow up without a biological father, yet somehow “the greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents”? Sorry but this is fruity Boomer nonsense.”

The remainers have a majority Bloc in Europe and Westminister. Any attempts to get a deal through will be out voted by the remainer Bloc. A GE will deliver a coalition of remainers into power. The Brexit and Conservative base is divided, the remainer Bloc not so much.

They will not stop until they have what they want.

I’m pretty sure a new leader won’t change anything.

Parliament was calling the shots well before May resigned

They don’t know what they want but they do know they don’t want no deal

Results by authority.

If the same happened in a general election The Brexit Party would be on about 500 seats and the UK'd have it's first PM named Nigel.

I wouldn't be so sure we've seen all the twists and turns in this one yet.

So, from that map all of Northern Ireland voted for Sinn Fein, and Gibraltar voted Lib Dem?

Not sure I believe that!

That’s a big if once you get into FPTP elections

FPTP is designed to reward whichever side doesn’t split their voter base.

Let’s say 55% right wing and 45% left wing what really matters is making sure it’s not 30% & 25% vs 40% & 5% and that’s incredibly difficult for both sides at the moment

RE: British Politics Thread
John Cleese criticised for saying London no longer an English city

[Image: 3500.jpg?width=620&quality=45&am...5f957b82ea]

Quote:The Fawlty Towers actor John Cleese has been criticised for repeating his 2011 claim that London was no longer an English city.

Cleese, 79, tweeted that his friends abroad agreed with his observation, concluding: “So there must be some truth in it.” The comedian described London as “the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU”. Almost 60% of residents voted to stay in the bloc in 2016.

The actor later issued a qualified apology following widespread condemnation. In a string of tweets countering accusations that his initial tweet was linked to race, he said: “I suspect I should apologise for my affection for the Englishness of my upbringing, but in some ways I found it calmer, more polite, more humorous, less tabloid, and less money-oriented than the one that is replacing it.”

Last year, the Monty Python comic announced that he was moving to the Caribbean because he was disappointed with Britain.

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “These comments make John Cleese sound like he’s in character as Basil Fawlty. Londoners know that our diversity is our greatest strength. We are proudly the English capital, a European city and a global hub.”

Tanja Bueltmann, a professor of history at Northumbria University and an EU citizens’ rights campaigner, said Cleese’s comments were designed to stir up emotions around the debate on Brexit, but argued that they pointed to a much larger issue of the way British people talked about immigration.

“I find it hypocritical that someone who is actually living abroad feels the need to make a point like this,” she said. “Why do some British people not see themselves as immigrants if they’ve moved elsewhere? We see cases of British people referring to themselves as expats, detaching themselves from the term immigrant.”

Kuba Jabłonowski, a social science researcher in Bristol, said he was shocked when he saw the tweet. “He claims to care deeply about Britain and its cities, but seems to know very little about them,” he said.

Jabłonowski added that there were other UK cities, including Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow, that voted to remain in even bigger numbers. “If he doesn’t know that, then why is he commenting on it? When I say things on Twitter, 700 people read it, but when he does, millions read it.”

The British comedian Dom Joly, 51, also criticised Cleese’s tweet. He said: “John Cleese is one of my comedy heroes … Suddenly this thing came out of nowhere and it’s so depressing on so many levels.

“He’s clearly a really smart, funny man, but it is basically a very racist tweet. Secondly, it’s a racist tweet by a man who lives on a Caribbean island – the irony of that is insane. Even the language is insane. Who uses the word ‘opine’?”

You know what is worse?

You can accurately predict thousands of twitter, facebook and media comments from people with foreign names slandering this great guy, this archetype of a british, and you know what's worse? That of course they will slander him, he isn't them, they are not him, London has fallen.

The Tory Muslim Chairman has declared live on BBC radio 4 that PM elect Boris Johnson is a “buffoon” and compared him to Hitler, and has threatened to resign if Boris gets the big seat.

Hold the phone. If any white politician said this about a Muslim one then there would be absolute outrage, heads would roll

It's white British men's fault if Pakistani grooming gangs are widespread up and down of the country. Believe it or not, nothing a 9mm can't resolve.

Hope my comment doesn't cause anxiety for those paedophiles.

RE: British Politics Thread
Quite a shocking interview on BBC.

I wasn't sure if it was fake, as I've not seen this women before, the format seems odd as well as the general atmosphere of the piece.

The woman is also supremely ugly. Her Twitter is full SJW, she is an SJW author and speaker. She is also the daughter of a convicted pimp.

Dimbelby, Paxman, Neil et. al. will soon be gone and replaced by more of this lot.

Hopefully BBC continue on this line and SJW out everything. I think about 6 million people have stopped paying their licence over the last few years. Surely this can only increase. They need to be sold of and become The Guardian TV.

Thats Ann Widdecombe and she isn't an SJW. She is an MEP for the Brexit party and she wont be doing the BBC any favours.
