RE: The Gamma Megathread
Few things are more hilarious than a Gamma trying to play intellectual whack-a-mole with a woman who's on an emotional rollercoaster.

I have zero doubts that it's the cause of a great number of female-on-male domestic violence issues.

Subconsciously she's screaming "FUCK ME YOU IDIOT" while he's desperately trying to explain for the fourth time why it's more important to pay the overdue electricity bill than go on a weekend getaway.

High functioning betas do the same thing. My friend is the perfect example. Great fucking guy with a lot going for him. Things guys his age would dream of doing.

But irrespective of all that he takes chicks too seriously and starts debating politics.

Chick essentially propositioned us once, tacitly, for a threesome by inviting us back to her hotel room.

I get stoned off my ass like the dumbass I am and become immobile while I watch in horror as my friend debates her over politics on her couch as I lay half dead on the carpet(worst part even from my position I could see her playing footsy with him to give him that slight cue that she was horny but he wouldn't shut up about the damned European Union). There was a separate bedroom area that they could have even ducked into to fuck, but my stoned ass had no control over my own motor skills much less telling him to get in there.

Reason #1 as to why I will never allow myself to get high off my ass ever again unless I'm okay being a cognizant vegetable.

No, he can't believe anyone would take an obvious tool like Scalzi and his narcissistic posturing seriously, so niggles at him by using the metric that is of deep importance to Scalzi. Hence, Sad Puppies. He doesn't care about their stupid Hugo awards. He's fucking with them purely because they place so much grand importance in them as a measure of their own worth.

Excellent observation. You could generalize this to any sort of "image construction" behaviors - when you encounter someone attempting to project a certain image of themselves to you and others, someone eager to get you and others to view them a particular way, you may be dealing with a gamma.

In which case you can have great fun messing with them by puncturing the image they're trying to craft.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
The funny thing about growing up around Gammas is that your brain normalises their behaviour to such a degree that it's only years later that you look back and just start to laugh at it all. Specific instances pop into your head when someone else tells a gamma story and sometimes it can become a cascading series of memories that seem utterly bizarre in retrospect.

No sooner had I read AB's post in the hater's lounge on how a Gamma would re-arrange a personal story in his head to have a more suitable outcome, than I remembered a story one of the more prominent Gammas I'd run with once told me and the conflicting eyewitness testimony I got later.

Gamma is visiting a mutual tradesman friend in a little-used industrial lot. He leaves, gets in his car and proceeds to do a u-turn without doing a head-check, assuming no traffic will be in the area. In doing so he mounts a curb and nearly wipes out a police car that happened to be coming up behind him.

Gamma story: "So this cop pulls me over for virtually nothing and starts telling me how he's going to book me for, like, five different things and that it'll be the end of my license, and I just tell him, like, y'know, buddy it's not gonna stick but do whatever the fuck you gotta do, y'know? So he ends up just writing me a ticket for failing to indicate and I tossed it in the back seat, like, whatever. Fucking cops think they're such badasses but they don't know how to deal with it when they're talking to someone who's, y'know', not scared of them. Anyway. I just burned out of there. Who gives a shit anyway."

Mutual tradesman account: "Hahahaha. Seriously? That's what he told you? Fuck no. I saw him nearly take that cop car out and the copper gave him a real serve. I could hear him down the street. When it was all over (gamma) came back to the shop. He was shaking like a leaf. I'm not even kidding. He tried to light a cigarette and his hands were shaking so badly that he barely managed it. He was pale as a sheet. I reckon he smoked a whole pack over an hour, just sitting there in shock before he built up the courage to get back in his car. *stops, laughs, continues* He must've driven out of the lot at 15 kays the whole way."

If you want a good example of a sigma vs a gamma in real time. Look at the entirety of the 50 Cent and Ja Rule beef. If anything the recent Fyre Music Festival fiasco proved Ja Rule's gamma tendencies even further.

Oh and I say with high certainty that 50 started the beef when he spotted gamma.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
I know people that have never matured out of the insecurity of youth yet who were utterly harmless and fairly cordial, really.

The gamma is a more dangerous subset of juvenile insecurity in the sense that he's insecure but determined to deride and in some cases destroy everyone who "makes" him feel that way.

I'll be teaching my sons about these kinds of people in very specific terms because they can really set you back in life if you don't recognise them quickly and organise your dealings with them appropriately.

A related question.

Are there already labels in standard psychology for sigmas and gammas?

No point in trying to break new ground if you are reinventing the wheel.

For example, could gamma just be an informal term for an introverted narcissist?

https://www.ps
ychologytoday.com/...narcissist

Quote:7 Signs of a Covert Introvert Narcissist

1. Quiet Smugness/Superiority

Many extrovert narcissists are fairly easy to spot, with their grandiose mannerisms and attention-seeking machinations. Introvert narcissists, on the other hand, can be more difficult to pinpoint, at least at the outset. They tend to observe (judgmentally) rather than act, and listen (half-heartedly) rather than speak. Yet, their quieter brand of superiority complex betrays itself through aloof detachment and disconcerting nonverbal cues. They may not express their negativity outright, but you get the distinct sense that they are barely tolerant with their lack of eye contact, condescending glare, eye-rolling, dismissive gestures, groans and sighs, high distractibility, quick boredom, impolite yawns, and overall inattentiveness. When they do speak, their comments tend to be critical and judgmental, focusing on their own conceited views.

This seemingly impenetrable smugness is, of course, a front, covering a sense of vulnerability within. Part of the insecurity may be the inability to relate to people meaningfully as human beings.

“One cries because one is sad…I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.”

― from Big Bang Theory

2. Self-Absorption

One of the most common characteristics of an introverted narcissist is a sense of “withdrawn self-centeredness”. While many introverts are more quiet but good listeners, introvert narcissists tend to be reticent and poor listeners. Often, they will make a quick assessment of a person or situation, find it uninteresting, flawed, or unworthy of their attention, and mentally tune out (block you out). While most mature adults are capable of recognizing nuances of issues, and giving people the benefit of the doubt, introvert narcissists tend to focus on only what they selfishly want and find agreeable. All else might be labeled as “boring” or “stupid”.

3. Lack of Empathy

“You’re sick? But what about driving me to the mall?”

― Anonymous

Both extrovert and introvert narcissists share this trait. Narcissists are often oblivious to, or dismissive of others’ thoughts and feelings. Even when you tell them how their attitudes and actions are generating adverse consequences, their response will be more about themselves. Such is the self-absorption.

4. Passive-Aggressiveness

Some introverted narcissists deal with disagreeable people or circumstances in passive-aggressive ways. Upon receiving a reasonable request from you, they might say “okay,” “yes,” “of course,” or “as you wish,” then either do nothing, or behave however they please. When you inquire why they didn’t follow-through on an arrangement, they may shrug it off with an excuse, or say nonchalantly that their way is better.

5. Highly Sensitive

Psychiatrist Glen Gabbard notes that some introverted narcissists are “exquisitely sensitive”. They tend to be affronted by any signs of real or perceived slights, and handle criticism poorly. In the face of negative feedback, some introvert narcissists will defend with an increased sense of superior smugness and dismissal (fight), while others will respond with sullen withdraw (flight). Typically, they will not let on how much the negative experience bothers them, and instead use their well-rehearsed aloofness to continue their schema.

Of course, not all highly sensitive people are narcissistic. What distinguishes the narcissist is their falsely constructed superiority complex.

6. The “Misunderstood Special Person”

The self-perceptions of some introverted narcissists include notions such as: “I’m special,” “I’m one-of a kind,” “I’m ahead of my time,” “I’m so unique no one understands me,” and “I’m so smart I’m above everyone else.” Statements such as these reveal common narcissistic tendencies of superiority, grandiosity, and entitlement. By constructing the superficial belief that one is “exceptional”, the introvert narcissist creates a reassuring role, submerging the fearful and vulnerable true self.

7. Impersonal and Difficult Relationships

As mentioned earlier, part of the introvert narcissist’s insecurity is the inability to genuinely connect with people. To this extent, the aloofness and/or smugness serve as a defensive mechanism keeping people away, lest the narcissist is exposed for her or his interpersonal inadequacies. Some introvert narcissists narrowly focus on self-absorbing work, technology, social networking, small cliques, books, games, fantasies, and/or other endeavors to minimize wider human interactions. These activities may also help them enact their covert, self-important personas.

“The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents.”

Debeguiled:

Some shared qualities - like passive-aggression and high-sensitivity, but they're definitely a separate thing.

The main difference: Gammas are socially-empathic, can recognise nuance, can recognise superior arguments they have no recourse against, and can clearly see the reality of the social structure, easily-identifying those who are genuinely-superior to them in intelligence and social popularity. It's why it's so easy for them to lose face, particularly online, because they're constantly-setting themselves up to be knocked down.

The Gamma deep-down knows he's lying about reality. The True Narcissist doesn't. Perhaps that's the key difference. One's a personality dysfunction that can be grown out of with self-awareness and discipline, one's a psychological dysfunction, not so easy to repair.

Gammas are self-aware enough they would never enact the behaviour described in Point 1 unless they were sure they had dominance of the social circle. They might occassionally act out to provoke, but they're self-aware enough to know 'Talk shit, get hit'. Therefore, resentment causes an uncontrolled outburst, then it becomes "Hey, I was only joking."

Point 2: No. No matter how boring or obscure the topic, the Gamma pretends to be an expert in it.

Point 7: Gammas don't have trouble making relationships at all, the way a Narcissist can't. It's just they aren't able to make the relationships they believe they deserve. They tend to do best in subcultures where everyone else is more-pathetic than them, so they can feel like the Alpha. My Stepfather has a circle of genuine friends who can tolerate the quirks of his personality: Deltas and Omegas. My teenage Gamma mate, when the rest of us were starting to hit nightclubs and dance parties, would brag about him being a 'big wheel' in the ten-pin bowling scene.

The problem's happen when they try and enter an Alpha Scene, such as my Stepfather in the Gun Club.

A narcissist's dysfunction happens everywhere.

----

Also, even if they were close enough to be used-interchangeably:

Think of how the Left uses the language of academia as exclusionary code.

Think of how Trump is able to talk to working class people.

Think of how most people don't know what Cognitive Dissonance is, and how it influences the Left politically, but a very intelligent man coined the term 'Doublethink' that had mass appeal.

Cut back to me explaining-carefully to Bill what 'co-dependency' means. Bill: "Fucked in the head." See the failure to persuade? Maybe if I've said "They're like Vampires who survive by feeding off each other's blood..."

Think about 'Cuckservative'.

Think about 'Fake News'.

Do you see the rhetorical power of 'Gamma' to produce an emotional response - everyone knows what Alpha Male is - in a way 'Covert, Introverted Narcissist' completely fails to do? Particularly in the Gamma.

I very much love it, because I'm seeing people in the sphere saying to others "Don't be Gamma", and people knowing what that means. It can be used to give people a self-awareness of patterned behaviour - as I said, Gamma can be worked on, if the person can admit they have the problem.

Even me. Remember, I was a pre-teen Gamma. There are still moments where that little Gamma instinct rears its ugly head, and I firmly slap it the fuck down. Conversely, if Sigma is just Gamma with High Social Function, I also work hard to reign the extreme instincts of that in.

An example: that Blonde-Haired CNN reporter the other day saying people going against The Narrative deserve to be doxxed. If I had a Twitter, my Sigma instinct is to slap her pride and pretension down, and being Sigma, I'd take it too far. What might start out as calling her a "CNNT"; would go through me mocking the constant stream of white privilege pictures on her Instagram feed; would then end up with me mocking her with pictures of her eyes over a series of increasingly-white backgrounds, (since her Instagram profile is a series of pictures with increasingly-high contrast to hide her wrinkles I know her vanity about aging is an obvious weak point of attack; and then devolve into me posting her own pictures of her trio of young nieces to John Podesta, asking him if he wants to invite her little girls over for Pizza, not caring if the rumours are true, and that did put them in danger, because I feel no mercy for the children of my enemies. If they'd call me on that, I'd say "The one on the right already has the dead eyes of a kid who's being regularly-fucked by a creep." They set the rules of engagement, I'm just matching their standards.

Obviously, I wouldn't last long on Twitter. Like Gamma, Sigma needs active mental vigilance.

I mentioned in another thread about learning to bear dishonest slander with patience and grace. Reading between the lines of the Bible, it's saying, on a psychological sense: "Don't overreact, worry about the social loss of face, and furiously-protest your innocence like a Gamma would. Don't retaliate to extremes like a Sigma would. Patience and grace has both healthy mental and social rewards over time"

RE: The Gamma Megathread
I see nothing wrong with the manosphere and it's various fiefdoms creating and evolving its own lexicon. There's no reason for example to stop using white-knight and start using male-feminist just because it's a more generically accepted term. Part of building a brotherhood is learning to speak in an exclusive language, and believe it or not, that's actually a powerful drawcard to non-affiliated men.

I think it took about 6 months for me to get to grips with the various linguistic nuances of the forum and I didn't really feel like a part of the membership until I managed that, so not only is it a drawcard indicating brotherhood but it's also a sort of minor rite of passage to learn it.

This is just as apparent if not more-so when breaking into a brotherhood in real life. If you and your boys don't have your own semi-coded language then there's no genuine camaraderie there.

The linguistic nuances I have developed are clearly superior to the ones used on this forum, and if it was actually populated by Alpha Males (like it claims to be) then it would have realized these weaknesses.

Pfft. This is the correct format.

You're right; a real Gamma would have written a 500 word-salad response, full of contradictions and inconsistencies, which you miss as you read it out of charity, and the belief that there must be some sort of coherent point. Gammas love smelling their own farts.

She just wanted to sell some lemonade and cookies. Her parents told her she could be there for 1 hour.
But as she was setting up she was approached by a man who was all bent out of shape by what she was doing.

According to her father:

Quote:The man just pulled up next to her and asked for her business license and then told her ‘I’m calling the police’ and then got on the phone and began speaking as if he was talking to police."
"She was so scared that she came home crying and sobbing and said she didn’t want to go to jail.

RE: The Gamma Megathread

Quote:Frank Darabont, whose spectacularly abusive emails to AMC executives and crew during the fraught production of the first season of The Walking Dead have surfaced amid his $280 million lawsuit against the network.

Darabont, who co-created the blockbuster cable hit, was fired as showrunner from the series early in its second season. He and his CAA team are suing AMC, claiming the network squeezed him out of tens of millions of dollars in profits by negotiating a sweetheart licensing deal with itself. In its defense, AMC has released a cache of shocking emails sent by the Shawshank Redemption writer-director during production — vituperative missives meant to bolster their case that Darabont was justifiably terminated.

Reading through them, it's easy to see why. In what is arguably the most level-headed of the emails, sent on July 21, 2010, Darabont, 58, tells a creative exec at AMC whom he considers "an ally" to "stop invoking 'the writers room'" in their exchanges. "There IS no writers room... I am the writers room."

The failings of the show's writing staff and crew — and in particular the camera operators — are a repeated theme of the rants. In the same email, he singles out one pair of writers as "fucking lazy assholes" and "overpaid con artists." After receiving what he felt was a woefully subpar script from a pair of writers, Darabont tells the exec, "If it were up to me, I'd have not only fired [them], I'd have hunted down and fucking killed them with a brick, then gone and burned down their homes."

"I told those assholes at least half a dozen times," Darabont continues. "Why don't they listen when I TELL them the way to do it? … [I]t's in one ear and out the other... It's almost as if they're intentionally telling me to fuck myself."

The rhetoric gets even more heated in a series of emails sent to the show's core below-the-line team one year later, as the delivery date rapidly approaches and Darabont is frantic, feeling the footage is unusable.

In the first, dated June 13, 2011, Darabont is furious over what he deems to be an overreliance on handheld footage. "You MUST calm down the camera operating," it begins. "This is turning out WAY more shaky-cam than I want. When I said please limit the handheld, it wasn't a random suggestion... And the operators MUST be told to HOLD THE FUCKING SHOT!"

He goes on to wonder if the camera operator had "an epileptic seizure" and deems his footage to be "utterly demented and unusable shit."

"Tell these operators that if they cannot provide us footage that works, we need to replace them with people who can. What the fuck are we paying them for? Ray Charles could operate better," Darabont writes.

He goes on to complain about spotting the "same group of idiot crew" visible in the background of shots "having a circle jerk" and is rendered "boiling mad" at a character who fell out of frame while tumbling down a slope. "The camera misses him COMPLETELY... yet I hear the operator say, 'Wow, that was fantastic.' ... Really? You missed the fucking actor, you blind fucking moron!"

The email ends in an all-caps paragraph: "YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE MOTHERFUCKING SCRIPT! I EVEN CHOOSE MY GODDAMN COMMAS FOR A REASON! WHY AM I WORKING SO FUCKING HARD IF YOU'RE SHOOTING EVERYTHING SOME OTHER WAY THAT DOESN'T WORK?"

The next day, Darabont sends the group another email.

"I'm in a state of absolute boiling rage right now," it begins. "I have never been a screamer, but I am now... You've turned [me] into a raging asshole. Thanks a lot, you fuckers."

The source of his ire this time is the show's directors, whom he feels are not following his script direction and who "better wake the fuck up and pay attention. Or I will start killing people and throwing bodies out the door."

Singling out one key moment in his script — "ANGLE CLOSES ON RICK, seething with fury" — Darabont asks, "What does that suggest? An important moment? It does to me. That's why I fucking wrote it that way. I don't spray random shit on the page. So why is it shot like random shit?"

He goes on to demand that the director responsible for the "boring-as-shit" scene be "replaced... He is an idiot. He needs to leave and take his seeing-eye dog with him. Because even his dog is blind."

"Fuck you all for giving me chest pains because of the staggering fucking incompetence," he closes his correspondence, before warning that any director that fails to shoot the scenes as he's written them will be "beaten on the spot."

In his affidavit, Darabont defends the emails, saying they were composed in the heat of a deeply troubled production and that his complaints were well founded.

"Each of these emails must be considered in context," he says. "They were sent during an intense and stressful two-year period of work during which I was fighting like a mother lion to protect the show from harm — not only on my own behalf, but ironically also on behalf of AMC.

"Each of these emails was sent because a 'professional' showed up whose laziness, indifference, or incompetence threatened to sink the ship," Darabont continues. "My tone was the result of the stress and magnitude of this extraordinary crisis. The language and hyperbole of my emails were harsh, but so were the circumstances."

Quote:Remember our experience with Allan Garfield on The Majestic? We were all so shocked because it was like he had no grasp of the basics of his craft? And it turned out later that he’d had a stroke he was unaware of? And a few months after we wrapped, the massive secondary stroke happened that put him permanently in the hospital?

I am honest-to-God wondering if Gwyneth hasn’t experienced the same thing. That’s how fundamentally f—ed this footage is. It’s as if she’s totally lost her grasp of what to do. It’s like we yanked some kid with no experience out of high school and put her in charge of directing a show. And what’s really weird is that she doesn’t seem to know it.

When I read these, I was instantly reminded of a guy I knew once. Looks exactly like Darabont, probably about the same age too, also a writer but not successful in any way. Basically an unemployed failure with no hope of (Shawshank) redemption. One moment he was the nicest guy ever, brought food he had made at home and shared it with others, the next moment he was arguing with someone over nothing and threatening to kick their ass. Constantly talked shit about everyone behind their backs. Burned every bridge that was laid in front of him. I remember that he always talked about how he was relentlessly bullied since early childhood and how he always got his shit kicked in by older boys after school - I wonder which came first, his personality or the bullying?

He had all these gamma traits:

- High intelligence that he overvalues the importance of
- God complex in his belief in his own omnipotence and failure to recognise his errors
- Burning toxic rage against the world for failing to recognise his genius
- Prickly pride that constantly causes him to sabotage otherwise smoothly functioning systems
- Creepily over-investing in the one woman who gives him interest

Anyway, back to Darabont... From these emails, his public appearances and from what I've read about him, he comes across like Walter White from Breaking Bad. Just like Krauser explains in that link above, Darabont is not respected, he's feared. The only reason people tolerate his toxic presence is because they are either under orders or looking to get rich from his writing abilities. And just like Walter White sold his share in a company he helped build for peanuts just before it became worth billions, Darabont's behavior got him kicked out of a show that could have made him hundreds of millions of dollars.

So, if you ever see Darabont near an RV, it's your duty to report it to the proper authorities.
