RE: The Gamma Megathread
Quote:Anyway, back to Darabont... From these emails, his public appearances and from what I've read about him, he comes across like Walter White from Breaking Bad. Just like Krauser explains in that link above, Darabont is not respected, he's feared. The only reason people tolerate his toxic presence is because they are either under orders or looking to get rich from his writing abilities. And just like Walter White sold his share in a company he helped build for peanuts just before it became worth billions, Darabont's behavior got him kicked out of a show that could have made him hundreds of millions of dollars.

So, if you ever see Darabont near an RV, it's your duty to report it to the proper authorities.

I am not so sure. If I just read his emails by themselves and assumed the people he was working with where doing a reasonable job at the production, then I would consider him 'out of line' with the emails.

The problem is that it sounds like to me, that the reason he is throwing an absolute mental fit is that the people around him are totally and completely messing everything up, which he states several times:

Quote:Why don't they listen when I TELL them the way to do it?

Quote:This is turning out WAY more shaky-cam than I want.

Quote: Tell these operators that if they cannot provide us footage that works, we need to replace them with people who can.
Quote:complain about spotting the "same group of idiot crew" visible in the background of shots

Quote:The camera misses him COMPLETELY

Quote:his footage to be "utterly demented and unusable

Quote:Tell these operators that if they cannot provide us footage that works, we need to replace them with people who can.

And by messing everything up, it is not just that the other people are doing something that bothers/bugs him or is causing a little problem. He makes numerous references that the scenes being shot are unusable; i.e. their product is no good and can't be used at all.

And he is so upset that he states they are causing him chest pains (not sure if that is real or not but seems possible from this set of emails):
Quote:Fuck you all for giving me chest pains because of the staggering fucking incompetence.

It sounds like to me he has a bunch of people that are either incompetent and/or doing whatever they feel like and are ignoring his specific instructions as to what he needs to be done.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
I was watching The Profit last week, and it had a glaring example of a Gamma being exposed to the world. The boss' wife's cousin Jeff has weaseled his way into being the "Vice President, per se" at this company.

Here he is attempting a sales pitch
http://www.cnbc.com/video/2017/06/30/bod...r-job.html

http://www.vulture.com/2017/07/the-profi...de-16.html

Jeff is, in reality, Bodhi’s green coffee sales manager. In Jeff’s mind — and sometimes when he introduces himself — he is the company’s vice-president. He theoretically handles the business’s wholesale accounts, and when Marcus asks him if he has a team that works for him, Jeff cagily responds, “Per se.” What could per se possibly mean in this context? Perhaps he is invoking its lesser-known meaning, Latin for “I have no direct reports, but I boss other people around and tend to work from home and am generally unpopular around these parts, for good reason.”

To build a national presence, Bodhi will need a distribution center in the Midwest. Marcus finds them a massive production facility and warehouse in his beloved Chicago (The Profit is John Hughes–movie–level obsessed with Chicago) that’ll enable them to produce 1 million pounds of roasted coffee a year — a huge increase from their current annual capacity of 120,000 pounds. While in the Windy City, they pitch their coffee to the restaurant group Rockit Ranch Productions in the hopes of forging a local business connection. Marcus is eager to see if Jeff is a good salesperson, or, really, if Jeff has any redeeming value whatsoever.

He is not and, so far, he does not. Jeff trails off repeatedly, neglecting to tell their potential customer anything about the product or its quality, and the client doesn’t bite. It’s obvious their pitch needs a lot of improvement — and yet, when he sits down with Steve and Marcus, Jeff thinks he “did okay.” When Steve questions Jeff’s sales numbers, his first reaction is to ask his boss how much he’s selling a month. Jeff’s second reaction is to immediately deny that he deflected like that, despite having literally just done so. But Jeff’s apparent fondness for alternative facts isn’t the worst of it. See, Bodhi has been buying from the same coffee farm in El Salvador for three years. But recently, Jeff has started dating its owner, and suddenly, his employer is getting the very worst pricing they’ve ever had from this farm — far outpacing any other cost increases in the region. Hmm. Steve has finally had enough. “I don’t think you need to do anything further for Bodhi Leaf,” he tells Jeff, to Marcus’s undisguised delight.

The way he blatantly lies on camera then not even 5 seconds later when questioned about what he just said denies everything, really blew my mind. Then to find out he's fucking this coffee grower from El Salvador and siding with her over the company, while overcharging his boss and company and exploiting them. His Gamma was jumping out of the TV.

When I read these, I was instantly reminded of a guy I knew once. Looks exactly like Darabont, probably about the same age too, also a writer but not successful in any way. Basically an unemployed failure with no hope of (Shawshank) redemption. One moment he was the nicest guy ever, brought food he had made at home and shared it with others, the next moment he was arguing with someone over nothing and threatening to kick their ass. Constantly talked shit about everyone behind their backs. Burned every bridge that was laid in front of him. I remember that he always talked about how he was relentlessly bullied since early childhood and how he always got his shit kicked in by older boys after school - I wonder which came first, his personality or the bullying?

He had all these gamma traits:

- High intelligence that he overvalues the importance of
- God complex in his belief in his own omnipotence and failure to recognise his errors
- Burning toxic rage against the world for failing to recognise his genius
- Prickly pride that constantly causes him to sabotage otherwise smoothly functioning systems
- Creepily over-investing in the one woman who gives him interest

Anyway, back to Darabont...

I was about to write a long rant about how--
(a) this sort of harsh language and at-times-coke-manic e-mailing is not unknown and possibly common in Hollywood; take a look at the leaked Sony e-mails pertaining to what producers think of Angelina Jolie's acting abilities, for example; and
(b) that Darabont's record surely stands for him: the guy directed The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist, which puts him as basically the only guy able to consistently and successfully adapt Stephen King stories to film. And he has a fair amount of script and script doctoring to his name as well,
--which surely must disqualify him as a Gamma.

But then I started re-reading a few things about the guy.

When confronted with the abysmal suckitude of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, which he wrote, he blamed it on Kenneth Branagh: Darabont called it the worst experience in his career as a writer as he had considered it the best script he had ever written, but that director Kenneth Branagh ruined it "every step of the way". He went on to say that "you can’t really judge the script based on what you saw on the screen. It got rephrased and messed with every inch of the way."

Was going to do the Snow White: Huntsman sequel, left over creative differences after 6 months.

And when he was asked about Shawshank Redemption 20 years down the line...

http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2014...sary-story

Quote:Once Darabont received [Stephen] King’s blessing, he set about adapting Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. The 96-page story is anything but cinematic, consisting largely of Red ruminating about fellow prisoner Andy, confounding Hollywood’s predilection for high-concept “Harry Potter meets Die Hard” loglines. Even King “didn’t really understand how you make a movie out of it,” says Darabont. “To me it was just dead obvious.” Still, Darabont says he “wasn’t ready” to sit down at his word processor right away, and five years passed, as he focused on paid jobs writing scripts for The Blob and The Fly II.

...

[Rob] Reiner then made the screenwriter [Darabont] an offer almost no one would refuse: a rumored $3 million to direct Shawshank himself.

The figure was “something like that,” says Darabont, before pausing to “set the record straight . . . I’ve read so much speculation through the years, and now with the Internet every asshole who doesn’t know crap knows everything. I’ve heard versions of this where there was some power struggle over the script and the truth is incredibly simple.”

...

Darabont, who had been born in a French refugee camp for Hungarians fleeing the 1956 revolution and subsequently grew up poor in L.A., was tempted. “In my struggling-writer days, I could barely meet the rent,” he says. The Shawshank payday, whatever its precise number, would have put Darabont at the top of a profession he’d been “trying to achieve membership in for a lot of years."

Glotzer confirms Darabont was “completely tormented” by the offer. As if to turn the screws, Castle Rock said it would finance any other movie he wanted to direct if he ceded to Reiner. Surprisingly, though Darabont was only 33, philosophical thinking won out because, he says, “you can continue to defer your dreams in exchange for money and, you know, die without ever having done the thing you set out to do.” Still, the decision to direct the film himself was “nerve-racking. People get fucked in this business all the time. Contractually, [Castle Rock] could fire me after the first meeting, say I wasn’t hacking it, and, oh, gee, we’re just going to bring in Rob Reiner.

...

With the director in place, casting calls went out. The narrator of King’s story is a white Irishman, hence the nickname Red. “My brain went to some of my all-time favorite actors like Gene Hackman and Robert Duvall,” says Darabont. “For one reason or another they weren’t available.” Producer Glotzer ignored the racial casting specs and suggested Morgan Freeman for the role.

...

Robbins merely flashes his famously inscrutable smile when asked about tensions on the set of Shawshank, though he does allow that any “difficult times . . . had to do with the length of the days.” Freeman, like his character, Red, has no problem rounding out the narrative. “Most of the time, the tension was between the cast and director. I remember having a bad moment with the director, had a few of those,” says Freeman. Most “bad moments” stemmed from Darabont’s asking for repeated takes. “The answer [I’d give him] was no,” says Freeman. “I don’t want to be chewing the scenery. Acting itself isn’t difficult. But having to do something again and again for no discernible reason tends to be a bit debilitating to the energy.” Freeman recalls a scene where the guards re-trace Andy’s escape route, retching when they discover themselves sitting in raw sewage. “My character was listening and laughing, just howling with laughter. I had to shoot that too many times.”

Darabont puts a diplomatic spin on his feature-film debut: “I learned a lot. A director really needs to have an internal barometer to measure what any given actor needs.”

Darabont likens the stress of principal photography to “being beaten with sticks” as the constant artistic compromise makes “every day of filming feel like a failure.” But in the editing room “you start to forget all those self-torturing thoughts.” The first edit of a film that ran nearly two and a half hours in its trimmest form was “long,” says Glotzer. Among the scenes eventually left on the cutting-room floor was one of Red adjusting unevenly to his release during the Summer of Love, when, as his voiceover proclaims, there’s “not a brassiere to be seen.” One scene the producer insisted on keeping was her idea in the first place: Red and Andy’s post-prison reunion on a beach in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Darabont’s original story ended like King’s—ambiguously—with Red on a bus hoping to get to Mexico. Darabont thought Glotzer’s ending was the “commercial, sappy version,” she says. Yet Glotzer was “adamant. If what you intend is that they’re going to get together, why not give the audience the pleasure of seeing them?”

So I guess it's a "hmmm" on whether he is a gamma, albeit a superbly talented one.

I'm not disputing Darabont's achievements nor his obvious talent. You can be insanely successful in your chosen profession and still be a Gamma. And as I said, I didn't base my opinion solely on those emails. From my point of view he seems to consistently exhibit the common Gamma traits I've read about.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
Want to get a gamma off your case? This is rage inducing for one. I practiced it the other day.

They'll to dangle information about someone out there that they don't like. They're looking for you to jump in and be heavily critical of the other person so that they can inundate you with their negativity and gossip.

"Hey, did you know that so and so is about to..."

It doesn't matter if you hate the person too, or that person is strange or incompetent. The gamma wants you to bite on that info and bring you onto their side as an ally.

All you have to do is have a suitable comment that wishes that person well in a genuine way.

"Oh, yeah, man! I hope he does well for himself!"

This will immediately shut him up. You have dodged the gamma bullshit bullet.

You will enjoy peace without the gossip. You may even joke around and be friends with his obsessive target just to get him off of you.

But you'll be happy.

He won't trust you anymore. So if you're relying on him, to do something for you, you should replace or get him out of your way somehow.

I only know this because I've seen this from both sides.

A friend of mine is a Gamma. He is a very angry guy with ZERO game that obsesses over politics to fill the void socially.

He's alt-right and on our side...but I have been hesitant to really introduce him around. He's so smart he's insufferable...just ask him to talk about German politics surrounding the Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian wars and he'll talk AT you for 45 minutes.

Comparatively, my roommate inhales CNN and is a cuck, but on women and game he's totally redpilled.

What do you do with allies that are bad PR for the movement?

^Meming and autistic Internet shitposting? Hell I mean even us well put together guys rarely show our power levels as frontmen. Leave that to the professionals till war hits. At most we can inspire and convert but you'd have to be extra careful. I've redpilled people before but I've known them for years.

For me socially capable, not dressing like shit, and "red pill" means the best possible drinking buddies and friends you could ask for. Doesn't mean I can't hang out with lefties etc. just they're more likely to be fun if they're well put together. And the autists and socially incapable that think like us just play video games and hangout.

One last little tidbit on this:

Firestarter wondered in another thread a couple of weeks back if a Nasa Test Pilot Personality is a subset of Gamma, or something else entirely. I've known a couple of NTP's in real life, so was trying to get a handle on what exactly they are, because they're definitely some form of Gamma. Note my logic:

Quote:Whilst a Gamma might create a sockpuppet to win an argument, an NTP will create many entirely-separate personas, with detailed backstories, and spend hours creating long conversations with 'himself', all to increase the attention upon or popularity of one or two profiles in particular. Problem is, these personas frequently 'leak' into each other, tipping off a careful observer.

I'm bringing this up now, because Suits mentioned privately that he believes All Women Are Gamma, then I stumbled across this today:

Dealing with Gamma friends and helping them to improve is almost impossible. Remember that they're the experts on everything, so the best way to steer them is to make them steer themselves.

"We're right on with our politics, but it seems hard getting people to take us seriously. They may be idiots but that's a reality we have to deal with. What do you think that >>>we<<< need to do so that people will actually listen to what we have to say?"

As for your good friend hooked into CNN I think humour is your best friend.

Whenever you walk into the room and he's watching that crap just do a little "fake news" skit where you act like a robot or something and repeatedly say "fake news detected fake news detected". Maybe do the doge meme where you deliberately screw up your engrish. "Such news! Much credible!" Maybe talk sarcastically about how comforting it is to have a channel where all the women are old and white. Y'know. Like it's the next best thing to having your mum come over to cook you a meal or something (assuming you're white).

Obviously you have to tailor it to your own shared sense of humour, but you can wear him down over time.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
Holy shit! Revelations have been made from reading this thread. Let us begin:

Backstory:

My mother and father divorced when I was young(I wanna say 8-ish but my childhood is really blurry). Mother had mental health problems. My father had sole custody of us, only allowing us to visit our mother for a couple hours, never sleeping over.

Well fast forward a couple of months, my mom picks up a new boyfriend. He was divorced as well with a daughter. I didn't mind the guy for a little while, he seemed like an okay enough guy. He shared my love of jazz and knew a decent amount on the subject. However, I soon learned that he would constantly need to dominate conversations and be the authority on every topic; even ones that he knew nothing about. Mind you, I was just a kid at this time, had major self confidence issues and beta tendencies. However, there was times when what I now know as more of a sigma side would come out and throughout conversations push his buttons in only a way that he would know about. We could be sitting at a table with my mom, and siblings and only he would be the one getting pissed off.

Mom:"We can pay for your lunch."
Me:"Are you sure, I have no problem paying if you don't have the money..."
Gamma:"Nah, don't worry about it. I got the money. No problem"

Mind you, he said this when I knew he didn't have the money as he wasn't working. He touted himself as a computer expert but has been fired from at least 1/2 of his jobs. But hey, I got to piss him off, let his pride put him further into debt, and get free lunch... What's better?

Then he would start to talk badly and gossip about family members of mine just to make himself sound better in comparison. Later on in years as I started losing weight and gaining confidence we would start to but heads more. Arguments would get heated and would only get worse when I just sat there smiling as he yelled. Then I found the redpill and started hitting the gym even harder, getting my license and my own car made me much more independent and I no longer needed either my mother or the gamma for rides or anything. Now I only meet my mother for coffee once every two weeks and the gamma knows not to speak up or talk to me more than just a "Hey Ivanis."

Just my own experience with someone who I now see as gamma.

As I think of more stories I will write them. But as said before, my childhood was a blur, I was sleepwalking through life at this point. It wasn't a good time in my life. But thats one of the reasons why I love this forum. It is the only place that I have ever been able to find humor in my darker moments. Kudos to you guys. I've said it before and I'll say it again; my life is forever changed because of this website and you guys. Eternal thanks to all of you.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
I'll chime in.

A few days ago, I went outside. It was nice and sunny. Ideal to game chicks, and read some business books on my smartphone.

I went to a nearby park. In that park, there is an area in which people (usually older) play chess. When I came, two older gentleman were playing chess, and chatting.

Suddenly, some fatso (which turned out to be a Gamma) came, and sat next to them, and started to give them unsolicited advice(s), loudly. You could hear him from miles yelling:

''WHY DID YOU MOVE THAT FIGURE OVER THERE! HE WILL DESTROY IT. PLEASE MOVE IT OVER HERE''

The older gentlemen tried to ignore him, but...he kept yelling:

''HE WILL DO XYZ. PUT YOUR QUEEN HERE: COME ON!!''

They had enough of him, so they stopped playing, and started to pack their things up. Smart move. Instead of taking a hint, he kept yelling:

''PLEASE, DON'T LEAVE. I WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP. PLEASEEEEE!!''

He was starting to go after them, but he stopped, once he realized it was of no use.

A few minutes later, he came to me, and started a conversation.

GAMMA: ''How old are you?'' (he did not even say hello)
ME: ''Huh?''
G:''How old are you?''
M: ''27''
G: ''I knew it. On which date you were born''

I had a feeling that my IQ was dropping every second by a great margin. I feared that I will die from stupidity. So I tried trolling him, hoping that he will go away. Fight fire with fire. Or napalm, in this case.

ME: ''I forgot. It was 27 years ago''
G: Come on...
M: ''I can't remember what happened 1 month ago, not to mention 27 years ago''.

He did not relent...

G: ''Are you a Wahhabi'' (yes, I am bearded - I have a beard like Rusell Crowe in Gladiator, or King Leonidas in 300).
M: '' (fake Middle Eastern accent)No, but I will join them, and declare Jihad on you, inshallah (God willing)''.
G: ''Cool. Wahabbis have so much money. I could use some''.

That was it. I could not take it anymore. Without a word...I got up. I had to run for my life, before I lost what remained of my IQ.

The Gamma dude, instead of taking a hint, started following me, and yelling:

''PLEASE DON'T GO, I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND!''

I ignored him. He kept following me, and yelling:

''PLEASE DON'T GO, I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND!''

I had absolutely no intention to keep chatting. I told him, calmly:

''Hey, fatso, if you keep following me, I will kill you (and moved slightly closer to him, to scare him). Do you understand?''

I turned my back after that. And lo and behold, he stopped following me.

I have never believed all that socio - sexual hierarchy thing. But...after this...I'll admit...I realized that it indeed has merit. As we can see, that fat guy was your standard issue Gamma - ''I know everything, but nobody cares'', ''I want to be social, but people do not want to talk to me'', ''People hate me, and I do not know why''.

Gammas remind me of king Midas. Again, when we take account this story (and other stories)...Gammas tend to turn everything into shit, instead of gold. Companies, relationships...you name it.

RE: The Gamma Megathread
^That's a cracked gamma right there. Someone desperate for human attention that's nevertheless alienated everyone in their life to the point of being utterly alone. The kind of person that can't even play world of warcraft without alienating entire servers filled with hundreds of people.

Suicide or very possibly murder/suicide is how that's gonna end. Bet on it.

Oh, look! It turns out Kurt Eichenwald has been reviewing his own books under a Sockpuppet handle and they're the best books ever!

Do you see the entirely-predictable pattern of behaviour I've been speaking about in this, and other threads?
