40% of Americans won't date someone with bad credit.
Calling BS on this one, especially since they don't really define the outer contours of "date" (ONS? LTR? wife up?)

Still have to admit that it's a relevant indicator for serious relationships, but not one you're likely to ever find out before it's too late.

Quote:Some people inquire about a potential mate’s age or how many previous partners they’ve had. Others are more interested in another number.

Some 42% of adults say knowing someone’s credit score would affect their willingness to date that person, according to a survey released on Wednesday of 1,000 adults by personal finance website Bankrate.com. That’s up from nearly 40% last year. Women were nearly three times as likely to consider credit score a major influence on a potential partner compared to men (20% versus 7%). Younger daters are not as concerned about these three digits: 45% of older millennials, defined here as those aged 27 to 36, said that knowing someone’s credit score would only have a minor impact on their desire to date.

By showing an interest in these three digits, people are probably being smart rather than shallow, says Jeffrey Hall, associate professor of communications at the University of Kansas. “Finances, education, and job prospects all factor into the value of a potential mate,” he says. “Assuming that people can actually interpret a credit score meaningfully, it makes sense they would think a credit score is useful in evaluating mate value.”

People are combining their finances when they marry, after all, and that can impact their future happiness. In fact, the higher your credit score, the less likely you’ll separate from your partner — and a lower score often means you’ll be less lucky in love. More than half of Americans (58%) said they wouldn’t marry someone with significant debt, according to a study released in March 2017 of more than 2,300 adults from legal industry site Avvo. (EDIT: this is probably a bit misleading here since 1) they're focusing only on beta-provider marriage aspects and 2) How many hotties out there have ever heard of Avvo let alone answered a survey there?)

While knowing someone’s credit score doesn’t necessarily reveal whether that person has a medical or student debt or even their annual income, it does indicate whether they are eligible for a loan. (EDIT: In my experience, the lower the credit score, the better the blow job.) A bank will look at each person’s middle scores— from the three major credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion — and then take a couple’s average score to determine their overall credit worthiness.

Low credit scores can deny one access to a mortgage or increase the costs of credit by thousands of dollars, says Stephen Brobeck, executive director of the Consumer Federation of America, a consumer advocacy group. Credit scores are likely to increase the finance charges on a $20,000, 60-month car loan by more than $5,000.

For those who are interested in talking about this during a candle-lit dinner, they should know what it means. A score between 661 and 780 is considered good credit and between 781 and 850 is regarded as excellent credit, according to financial website Credit.com. The site rates fair credit as between 601 and 660, poor credit between 501 and 600 and bad credit as anything below 500. But different lenders may have different criteria when it comes to loaning money, and may approve borrowers with a credit score of below 700. A high score effectively means that their prospective date has been paying their bills off on time, or only uses a small percentage of their available credit on credit cards.

Still, those millennials in Bankrate’s study might be too quick to judge. That age group also has the lowest credit scores of any generation of Americans, a report released by credit bureau Experian concluded. The report, based on anonymous data from Experian’s consumer credit database, found that millennials have an average credit score of 625 on an average debt of $52,120. By comparison, Generation X (aged 35 to 49) have a credit score of 650 on average debt of $125,000, while both baby boomers and the Greatest Generation (with a combined age of between 50 and 87) have credit scores of 709 on average debt of $87,438. Credit scores, experts say, are built on experience, and millennials have plenty of time to improve their digits. (EDIT: The youngest boomers are 53, but whatever. Most Gen Xers are probably on their second divorce by now.)

And previous research also supports the proposition that women are more concerned about their potential partner’s earning power than men. (EDIT: From the "no shit, Sherlock" files) “Too many women are still overly-focused on their romantic partner’s holdings. In their minds, money equals power, and women want powerful men,” says Fran Walfish, a Beverly Hills, Calif.-based psychotherapist. “Money comes and goes, and you are always faced with each other.” Walfish says the rich, famous and privileged flock into her office with the same ailments and issues as regular people, namely communication, sexual issues, parenting, and, most importantly, conflict resolution skills. “The goal for every person is to evolve as a complete, whole and self-reliant individual.”

Credit Score might not even show the whole picture. She might have an OK score, but if she has Six-figure debt on a do-nothing degree she's already disqualified herself. It's like a reverse dowry and I'm not buying.

This is where beta provisioning really ramps up. It could be ideal for betas if these girls wanted to get married at 23, but instead it's when they are 30+, having run through enough low credit / high excitement Chads.

RE: 40% of Americans won't date someone with bad credit.
The income-to-debt ratio is important. Someone might have excellent credit but are neck-deep in debt and make their payments on time. The ITD ratio is way more important for me. A girl with a perfect credit score but $100,000 in debt because of a gender studies degree is no better than a girl with a $1,000 credit card debt who fails to pay on time.

Another thing to consider about debt: A debt is a legal contract between you and the lender that says that you HAVE TO PAY. If the girl defaults on something like that, she's likely to default on other things that you'll expect her to do.

My philosphy is simple: The ONLY things that are acceptable to get in debt for are income-generating assets, for example, rental properties, shares in a profitable business, etc. in which case you need to factor in your repayment cost and consider whether it's worth it or not. [u]Anything not generating money must be paid cash:[/b] Primary residence, car, furniture, etc.
Student loans are kind of "in the middle", if it's a STEM major, try to pay cash as much as possible, but if you want to be a doctor, financing part of it might be all right. If it's a soft science major (gender studies, liberal arts, etc.) then it's cash or nothing.

If you're buying a car, the price shouldn't exceed 10% of your annual salary. If you make $100,000 a year, then you have $10,000 to buy a car, and there are pretty good options for that price. Unfortunately, too many people making $50,000 per year buy a $40,000 car and are in debt for the next 7 years - after which they realize that they've bought 2 cars to their banker with the interest they paid. Unfortunately, the desire to impress is stronger than common sense.

The fact there is a line that even has to state "previous research" about women being more concerned about potential earning power than men just shows you how intelligence and wisdom are regressing at this point. It's like having a debate about illegals being ok, or even voting ... once you've entered that discussion by definition you've realized many around you are stunted entirely, if not mad ...

HA yeah I'm sure with the epidemic of thirsty ass simps in the US these guys are REALLY sitting down with a girl they're dating, "So...we need to talk. How's your credit?"

Give me a break. Every single girl I meet has a stack of unpaid bills, parking tickets, they're making minimum payments on credit cards, they have expired food in the fridge, expired car insurance, tons of student debt, are renting instead of owning... girls just inherently suck at life.

If having bad credit was an actual dealbreaker that would eliminate over half the country as eligible. When in reality, I see guys that have their shit together willing to stick their dick in damn near anything.

How do we use this to rate girls? Does a 700 credit score equal a 7 or 5

RE: 40% of Americans won't date someone with bad credit.
One of the hottest girls i've ever been with was a former model and was working as a cocktail bar waitress.

I started asking about small things like bills I would notice at her place. Apparently, she took out several credit cards and maxed them out when she was a model. We're talking at a minimum of around $15k in debt. Nothing too crazy and could have been easily paid off with the modeling cash.

Then, while modeling she took out a bucket load of student loans for a nursing degree which never panned out as she never sought certification.

All in she had about $38k in debt. The credit cards she paid off with the minimum balance, but she stopped making payments on her student loans years ago. Her reasoning was, "I'm not a nurse, why should I pay it?"

She looked great and was somewhat pleasant, but she didn't have any concept of financial control. I dropped her to the curb when she started asking for cash, asking why we never traveled, and go to other expensive events.

I don't know about you guys, but there's no way in hell I was going to go on some excursion to a tropical island, get overpriced concert tickets, and eat out at over priced restaurants where artsy food is more valued than tasty food.

If all you want is to bust a nut, which most guys here seem content to be with, then go and bang the idiot girl who has no financial sense.

At the time I was dating her, I decided that busting my nut wasn't as important as having a stable relationship and future mother of my child. She broke up with me which was awesome because I'm lazy and hate breaking up with girls. The kicker was when she came and asked to get back together. No thank you! Done dealing with idiot females from now on.

Good on me for doing that, because the next chump that she dated she ensnared her boyfriend with a pregnancy.

RE: 40% of Americans won't date someone with bad credit.
I am not an American, but I am team value a girl's wealth.

I remember whenever I was dating poor girls, girls with loans, girls with sick parents or (God forbid) single mothers I always had this fear in the back of my had that if she get's pregnant it can lead to a long time of financial trouble and obligations for me. It did diminish even the pleasure of sex and fun company to some degree, maybe only 1% to 5% but the worry was always there.

Now I am married to a woman with relatively well off parents and no debt, she is very careful with money spending - her parents are still together and she is the only child so she is sure to inherit their house - I don't have to worry about where my children will live, where can they spend summers, I must tell you life is much more blissful if extended family is a mutual support and not not a burden.

Women do look at a man's wealth and men with options should too, unless they are so rich that they don't care. If they want to keep that wealth for further generations then also rich men should care.

Don't just look at her personal income and debt - also consider her possible inheritance, wealth of parents and how large, rich and mutually helpful the extended family is. That can turn out to be a big asset or a big drawback.

Remember that throughout history the mutual material gains of both families was the main factor in marriage and it is and has been the main tool how elites of all ages have risen to power and held that power. Love is just a silly modern notion to keep the plebs and proles poor - to make sure that even if a prole individual accumulates some wealth - it doesn't get carried over generations.

Marry smart and make sure your children marry smart if you want your line to prosper.

That article needs correction. Women SAY they look for financial stability in a man. But most of them won't be turned off one bit when Chad Thundercock asks her to pick up a second shift at Arby's so they can get his guitar out of pawn.

I have never been in an LTR where I didn't know the girls credit score and roughly how much student loan debt she had.

Exactly - not only will men not check a girl's credit rating, but women won't care much either if the guy is hot or Alpha enough. She will start to hamster away how she can help him pay off his bills.

Nah - survey likely happened by asking a bunch of women:

"Would you date a man with bad credit?" 80% said no, because women say no to a list of 100 points that men can be disqualified like having a bad job, not making enough cash, not driving a nice car, not being tall enough etc.

They don't even have to ask any men for the survey. 50% of the US has bad credit or had at least some run-in with that. The following 30% is also just scraping by. Only 20% of the country is well-off enough to keep the score clean, but my take is that a good portion of those are also having too much debt, but at least their jobs and businesses net them enough to pay it off unless they truly fuck up things.

RE: 40% of Americans won't date someone with bad credit.
Your personal finances are our biggest measure of individual character in society. If you make late payments, have a lot of debt, and have made dumb mistakes with money, its the best indicator that person can not be trusted in other areas of life.

Any women with a bad financial situation is not suitable LTR material, and very limited potential outside of pump and dump sex.

A women should support a mans mission and support the foundation you have built through your hard work. You need to be able trust an LTR like you would a wife. A women with a poor credit score is more dangerous than a women with a high notch count. She can literally destroy your life, and make you go back on your own personal integrity and values.

My ex had a decent earning job, $140K+, and a 600 credit score. Abysmal credit. She started asking me to buy her dinners and expensive gifts. She always wanted to travel and go out. We broke up shortly thereafter. She had "expensive taste". Through this, and other poor self control on her part, she disqualified herself into just easy sex and fun. And she showed a lack of boundaries and self control in other serious areas too. I quickly lost the desire to reward her with an expensive meal or nice gift because it meant nothing to her, as evident by her own lack of self control.

Before I would ever consider a wife, she would have to show me she is in total financial control, has decent credit, and can manage herself, at the very least, on average. I will background check women once a serious LTR is under way.

You can fix bad credit, you cannot fix a bad attitude or poor moral character.

Woman are raised to be sweet and nice, then marry a nice guy who can support them.

I know women with good jobs, money and good credit. The problem is they are usually old.

You forget though, at least in America, the federal government is essentially paying you to buy a house. The interest charged on your mortgage is deductible - you get nearly all of it back in your tax refund, while at the same time you're building equity in the real estate. If all you ever do is rent you wind up paying somebody else's mortgage and you build no equity - that money is gone. Sure, the same thing can happen when buying a house but as long as you don't go crazy with the purchase price and keep it reasonable, even if the value stays flat or goes down a bit you wind up being in the same place as you would have if you rented. Again, got to keep it reasonable - if you somehow got somebody to write you a mortgage for a million dollar house back in 2006 when you had no job and now you're swimming in debt, well, can't fix stupid.

I have a good friend in his 40s who's been dead set against owning a house and rents - has done so his entire adult life. He drank too much of the libertarian "the bankers are trying to screw us!" Kool Aid and even though he could have probably bought something affordable, he stuck to his idealogical guns. The end result? All that money he's paid for a place to live went straight into some landlord's pocket.

Quote:If you're buying a car, the price shouldn't exceed 10% of your annual salary.

Again, depends how you slice it. Cars are a depreciable asset, yes - it'll always be a cost no matter what. But if you found a brand new car with a lease that cost $200 a month for 5 years, that's a pretty efficient and cheap way to get transportation. Sure, you'll never own it, but if you make $50k and limit yourself to 10%, that's a $5000 car. Five years later you will own something worth about $2500 and have no warranty to cover major repairs along the way like you would have with the leased newer car. If you don't know shit about fixing cars and can't even handle the small stuff, that $5k car is going to be a nightmare.

So while I see where you're going - be prudent and don't get caught up in keeping up with the Joneses - try to avoid sticking to absolutes without exploring the possibilities.

If all you want is to bust a nut, which most guys here seem content to be with, then go and bang the idiot girl who has no financial sense.
....

Good on me for doing that, because the next chump that she dated she ensnared her boyfriend with a pregnancy.

I was gonna say, if she was that irresponsible about her life, generally, what makes you think she'd be smart enough to remember to take her birth control pill? Next guy found out the hard way. Unfortunately the girl with no financial sense is, as you described, most often the least "ejaculation safe" of all.

Credit score is unbelievably important to me. If she has below an 800 she's not worth it.

Generally yes, but it depends on your net worth/income and how much she knows about you. A billionaire is not safe with anyone.

I wouldn't trust busting in a Gov worker as her cushy union status could afford her lots of goodies and paid leave.

HR professionals and Lawyers are your best bet. The latter are just harder to deal with but I have pumped and dumped a few HR/Headhunter type girls, they seem to be serious about career but silly about everything else so it matches up well.

Grad/PhD Students are a good selection to bust into as well. These girls 90% of the time have the Birth Control routine on lock, your lowly Undergrad girl won't though and will skip pills and stuff.
