RE: The Australian politics thread
Heh, glad I made you laugh Quintus, but I think there's a deeper truth behind it.

As a child, I never understood the sense of distance between the men and the women of the war generation in their advancing age. The men had their sheds, garages and gardens, whilst the women ruled the kitchen and the family.

So, as a little boy, my Grandfather would often be sitting or standing outside somewhere, and I always got the sense he'd want to be alone. Not that he wasn't friendly - there'd be quiet little moments where he'd sit on the back steps with me and teach me how to properly shine my shoes, or how to tie a knot, or how to thread a kite tail. Maybe he'd take me across to the park and try and teach me to ride a bike, but most of the time, he was just silent, reading his paper quietly across the breakfast table, and I'd leave him alone, looking for my own excitement.

As I'd get older, the teachers would ram sexism down my throat, and the fact that men don't take women seriously, and, due to my lack of experience, my childish mind would turn to these older men and think "They're right. They total dismiss their wives. Yay, Equal Rights."

That, obviously, was before I really had any experience with women, and it didn't help that the women in my family were freakish outliers in intelligence.

I don't care how big a player you currently are: I'm convinced there's a ticking clock of a man's patience with female bullshit, and, at some stage, the more skilled you become at navigating female bullshit to get laid, nevertheless, you'll just reach the point where solitude is preferable to the constant emotional turmoil the female mind generates, and it starts to outweigh the promising pleasure of pussy that you know you could easily get if you were driven to do so. It's not that my sex drive has decreased... it's just the likely sexual pleasure gained to do so isn't necessarily worth the mental pleasure lost.

Being blunt, I have heard everything from a woman that can be heard. I know exactly what to expect. I've seen every sulky pout, watched every toy being thrown out of the pram. At 46, there's no more charm or mischief or amusement in their behaviour. It's just... tiresome.

Take last night, I could have easily asked "Who wants a coffee?" and defused the situation. I could have sarcastically-pointed out my tea and said "You know you can boil water in a saucepan," and made them feel foolish. I could have even isolated one of the girls and lead her through the process of making her think it was her idea all along to use a saucepan.

Instead, I sat quietly in the kitchen by myself, overhearing and ignoring the fuss, and thought "Damn, this is a really good cup of tea."

I was out on the back steps earlier in the evening as the women fussed in the house, getting ready to go to the hospital and making it much harder than it needed to be. To look at me, you probably would have said I was silent, no expression on my face, but I was happily thinking "Hell of a sunset tonight. Should be a good day tomorrow."

I feel closer to my Grandfather than ever before. I wish we could have met as adults.

Re: Armytage, she's a WB in my book. Nice face and body, but it's a shame she never had kids. If she did, they'd probably wind up with autism, the Down's or some other disability.

In a saner world, she'd have been married at 18 and had about 7 kids by 25.

Reading AB's story and laughing my ass off. Talk about speaking my language. Imagine the power going out for 36 hours and the wife going nuts for a coffee. Listen to her complain for half an hour about the power companies and how "it's just not right". At the end of her rant tap her on the shoulder and hand her a coffee made from water heated on a camp stove. Walk away like...

WHY IS SHE WEARING MY CHILDHOOD COUCH IN THE LAST PIC?

Family Guy Vomit.

You think that's bad Para: look at her toes in the last picture. Look at them! Good luck unseeing them.

Remember, she's thinking about having kids 'one day'.

Wtf

What's exactly is she famous for? Is she a former model gone to seed, like Kate Fisher? Hair's too long for a Pollie. Or, judging by the "Bloat + Barren" combo that seems obligatory with the territory, is she your standard MediaCunt?

I could look her up, sure, but, I don't want to risk seeing more of that bellybutton.

THINGS GROW IN THERE.

I always figured she got the job cause of her chubbiness.
Similar to how Fox News has rather attractive gals.

Channel Nine has that withered old bint - Lisa Wilkinson.
While channel Seven went the - "body positive" route.

As for your take on modern women, which I also largely harbour.

I summarize it thus: no anger nor angst, merely - apathy.

Thing is, I've yet to hit 40... Confused

I know a bit about the TV industry. Presenters back in the 90's used to need 'fuckability' or they weren't hired.

Clearly there has been a decline in standards in line with progressive values. Looks like they're now taking the 'QANTAS Stewardess' route.

Such a 'noble' lot...

Senator Larissa Waters resigns over dual citizenship

The Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens has resigned from parliament after she revealed she still holds a dual citizenship with Canada. Waters' departure comes four days after former co-deputy Scott Ludlam resigned over similar citizenship issues.

If the rationale behind the prohibition on dual citizenship is because we cannot be sure of whether one's allegiances lie with the Australian people as opposed to advancing some other agenda incompatible with Australian interests, we'd have to sack pretty much the entire Greens party.

What are your guys thoughts on Clive Palmer?
Seems to talk trash about the current administration Turnbull, which in my opinion has become a greedy little bum and lining his and friends pockets.
Penalty rates cut, centrelink scholarship cut, university fees increase and some other fuckups that he's done. Really curious how the situation will pan out in the future with immigrants coming in en masse, Melbourne, Sydney looking to grow in population and foreign investors owning a sizeable amount of real estate and with lower household ownership for Australians. In 10-20 years would it be time to bail out?

What party was Andrew Robb in when he sold out Australia with a ridiculously unbalanced FTA for a $800,000 a year Chinese board seat?

What party was Sam Dastyari in when he was bankrolled by Beijing to be their mouthpiece in parliament?

Scumbags the lot of them.

We came back to where I'm staying last night from visiting at the hospital, only for one of the six women to discover her electric kettle had died.

The hysteria that followed once they realised that they were denied their coffee! Trying to figure out who last used it. Blaming each other for doing something to the kettle. Arguing over where they could get one 'at this time of night'. Deciding who should make the drive because it was cold, and then obviously-deciding I should do it.

They came to look for me, no doubt about to launch into a campaign to butter me up. Not one of them noticed I was already drinking a cup of hot tea because I'd left the room ten minutes ago at the start of the drama, and gone and put a saucepan of water on the kitchen stovetop to boil, really, really wanting a cuppa.

The sad part is, not one of them noticed or commented on where the hot water came from, even when I said "Let me finish my cuppa first."

Stop to think that four of these women have university degrees.

As I walked out the door - it was a good excuse to not be obligated to hang around - I stopped and lit my cigarette on the gas hob, just like my grandfather used to do. They still didn't get it, and, obviously didn't, judging by the way they pounced on me when I returned with a new Kettle.

As I'm aging, I can see why he spent so much time outside in the garden.

AB, you live in an Australia that I wasn't even sure existed anymore. (I've been overseas for 10 years now.) To hear your stories of a clutch of sheilas in their "mother's club" takes me back to my childhood. Nostalgia, and relief I'm out.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

RE: The Australian politics thread
LOL, Daytime Advertisement TV Studio 10 demonstrates the average feminist form of debating on the subject of the Greens losing two of their MPs due to the "no potential traitors" section in the Constitution...

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/...4ccf4016a5

Quote:ITA Buttrose was forced to step in as tensions flared between Joe Hildebrand and Jess Rowe on Studio 10 this morning.

The pair butted heads during a debate about Greens Senator Larissa Waters, who resigned on Tuesday after confirmation she was a citizen of Canada — a country where she spent the first 11 months of her life, but hasn’t ever returned to.

Under section 44 of the constitution, anyone elected to the Australian Parliament must only be a citizen of Australia.

Rowe, who revealed on the Channel 10 morning show that she is a Greens supporter, defended Larissa Waters: “I think she’s a terrific Senator and she’s done a lot of good”.

“What has she done exactly?” Joe Hildebrand asked.

It quickly became clear that Rowe was the only panel member that felt for Waters, with guest co-host Steve Price and Ita Buttrose also chastising the Senator for making such a simple mistake in regards to her nationality.

But Rowe stuck to her guns.

“She made a mistake and I think it’s our loss that she’s no longer in the parliament,” she said.

And that’s when things got tense.

Steve Price: “Why? What’s she done, apart from breastfeed her baby in the senate?”

Jessica Rowe: “But you say that in a very patronising way, Steve.”

Joe Hildebrand: “But what has she done?”

Jessica Rowe: “Again, Joe, don’t be a smarta**e!”

(Cue gasps from the studio audience)

Joe Hildebrand: “All we’re asking is what has she done? You said she’s done a lot. Just tell us what she’s done instead of attacking the question.”

Jessica Rowe: “Sometimes it’s very difficult to respond to a question when you sound like you’re an expert on everything.”

(Cue even more gasps from the studio audience)

Joe Hildebrand: “OK, I’m not saying anything. Just tell me what she’s done that you think is wonderful.”

Jessica Rowe: “There’s a whole lot of different views and sure, people believe in what you say, but then there are other views and sometimes it can be difficult to be a different voice.”

It was left to Ita Buttrose to put an end to the back-and-forth bickering between the two co-hosts, the media veteran suggesting they all have a singalong together to ease the tension.

Buttrose launched into a rendition of 10 green bottles hanging on the wall but tweaked the lyrics to, “10 Green MP’s sitting on the wall ...”

Fuck me, talk about feelings over facts. All the hallmarks of leftie debating tactics: motherhood statements, accuse the questioner, accuse everyone of bias. The only difference was that the blokes for once stood their fucking ground, and Rowe's environmentally-friendly, solar-powered CPU just melted down when asked to come up with an actual fact.

It's good to see that white-knighting is starting to die out on some level.

In the past men all just sat and nodded when vacuous bitches like that dribbled verbal diarrhoea for minutes at a time the way adults humour children that try to participate in adult conversations.

Now men are starting to realise that humouring bitches like that is starting to yield serious consequences, and when these empty-headed bimbos get called on their bullshit they predictably demonstrate all the capacity to swim in the deep end of social interaction that a toddler might have.
