Except to set up an insanely lucrative rematch.

Match 1: Floyd loses
Match 2: Conor loses
Match 3: Billion dollar purse

It's possible, but not entirely plausible given how much Floyd looks up to Marciano and wants to break his record for the most consecutive wins in boxing history.

If Floyd wasn't undefeated I'd buy that line of thinking, but with a perfect record on the line, I'm not sure he'd be willing to lose to an amateur like that.

I have to hand it to Connor Mcgregor for his puppetmastery skills. He really is in a no-lose situation (minus of course the actual fight outcome). He makes a good showing, and there's definitely a possibility of a rematch for even bigger money. He gets his ass whupped and he'll have every UFC apologist in the world claiming, "he's not a boxer, let's get an MMA match". If he wins, well... St. Paddy's in August.

The fact that Mayweather even took this fight shows how much he loves money but I believe a win aligns way better with his interests than a fixed loss. Plus, his pride and desire to be immortalized with a 50-0 record only sweetens the pot. I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that his entire boxing legacy would quickly disintegrate after a loss to Mcgregor. Endorsements would dry up, Mayweather promotions would be tainted by the stink of such a colossal failure and he'd likely be declared pugilista non grata by all of the people who matter in boxing. Also imagine how much glee his long-time haters would revel in if he lost? Shiet, that's motivation enough right there not to lose.

And if he got caught fixing the fight? Say goodbye to everything: the huge purse, the PPV money, the respect, the now vacated record, undoubtedly more jail time. In light of all these possible scenarios, taking a dive just doesn't add up - there's way too many downsides with risk of absolute ruin vs. punching the lights out of Connor and walking away with a guaranteed $200M+ for one fight.

It is a con show.

I feel you, but that doesn't make sense for a few reasons:

Why would Mayweather throw away his 49-0 record? That doesn't add up for me. He's 1 match away from beating the Legendary Rocky Marciano's record. There is no way he is going to throw a fight unless someone offered him 1 billion dollars or something and even then he's throwing away a unique opportunity that would put him above everyone else in the boxing hall of fame for hundreds of years.

The only reason McGregor took the fight is that he is getting 100M to get beat up for 6-12 rounds and walk away from it and increase his net worth by 3x. Nobody in their right mind would walk away from that.

All pro sports are fixed, especially Boxing and MMA.

You cannot put logic behind it.

A boxing legend who has been boxing for over 20 years against some MMA guy, who has been boxing for how long?

With all due respect, I think you're going into conspiracy land with that bit.

McGregor has a massive fan base. The second he started saber rattling for this fight Mayweather's camp saw massive $$$ to be made by combining Mayweather's fan base and McGregor's fan base. This is going to make sports history no matter who wins.

There is no reason for Floyd to take a dive.

Floyd taking a dive would literally be him destroying everything he built up over the past 40 years.

Tinfoilhat why do you think all sports are rigged?

There is a 100 million ($) reasons for Mayweather to take a dive.

Sport is about money and money talks.

Roosh painted a scenario that will probably happen.

First fight ends in a DQ, which will call for a rematch.

Either way Vegas and the powers that be are laughing to the bank.

Sorry, what are SJWs?

This has been the seasons of comebacks and upsets. After Trump and the Cubs I don't hold nothing against any underdog.

Mayweather getting KO'd is the type of earth shattering shit that has been the norm the past several months.

McGregor weighed 153 at the weigh in but it was said that he will weigh 170lb tomorrow - how does somebody put on 17lb in one day? Is it all water weight?

RE: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor is August 26th 2017
Was listening to Cowherd & Whitlock talking about the fight and they had some real interesting thoughts about the outcome. They think if McGregor loses they are definitely setting up a fight with Malignaggi for him next. They really thought that Conor might not be sticking around the UFC much longer once he gets a taste for the big league boxing checks, and that he may be moving to boxing more full time and even setting up his own fight promotion company, ala Mayweather or DeLaHoya. They also thought Dana White may even leave the UFC and join McGregor in this new promotion, having already made his money in MMA, and with his UFC journey getting much tougher. Then they speculated that if McG won he could even create a whole new sport (for US audiences), some sort of american kickboxing muay-thai most likely. Some real fascinating possibilities no matter what happens.

Missed out on -324 and now its at -425 on bet365, still not bad.

I'm taking some of the props at fun money, like $100-$500 bets on Mayweather landing first punch, landing last punch, Mayweather wins every round, etc. Basically fading every Connor prop out there.

But my main bet is still on Mayweather to win outright.

Yup.

Edit: bet365 back to -400 gents. Get at it.

Who would seriously want to pay to see Mayweather vs McGregor in an octagon if Floyd couldn't whoop him in the ring? There'll be no dive, or any nonsense 'rigging' of the fight. The best possible outcome for making money is that Floyd dicks all over McGregor and then agrees to a fight in the octagon (which he won't), which everyone would pay handsomely for to see Floyd get beaten up. The most earning potential is there if the fight goes exactly as it should - a Mayweather execution of McGregor, and millions of pissed of paddies.

While I am interested in the fight itself, one thing I am looking forward too is the circus surrounding the fight coming to a close. For weeks now, on social media, the regular media and in day to day life, it's just been a bunch of people jumping on all the hype and giving opinions that are vastly unqualified. Like when the world cup final comes along and suddenly, everyone is an expert on the two teams, how they play and how they will set-up to play the final.

Yeah, I don't think that gif is going in the direction you think it is.

It looks like one of these sorts of gifs:

Been talking to some old time dudes here in Vegas, guys that have been working here 30+ years, guys that know people.

They think it's been fixed.

One thing's for sure, the level of hookers here right now is insane. Got these trophy dolls that work fulltime in San Diego with kids (some with husbands) that come to Vegas on weekends like these to make $10K+++ The quality is nuts, not every day you see perfect Yanet Garcia lookalikes strutting fat bolton tits wearing tiny daisy dukes and a tie top. Eye candy galore.
