Tats like that, there's the possibility that he was a violent thug that everyone hated. If your neighborhood piece of shit was drowning in a pond, would you save him?

If it were my son then I would hold him underwater until he got a lungful of air and then let him come back up and cough his guts out.

Then I'd pay someone to do the same to me for having apparently been such a shitty father.

As for people saying calling 911 would be pointless, for Christ's sake, does it cost you anything?

A cop car could literally be around the nearest corner. It takes two minutes typically to "drown" and the brain can still live for 10 minutes or more beyond that. A shitload of people have been resussed with no permanent brain damage having been out for even longer than 15 minutes. You just don't know. The cops could have turned up in five minutes, dragged the guy out, started CPR and with God's grace he could have been home by the end of the week.

Don't ever think to yourself there's no point in calling the EMS. I sure as hell hope that if it happened to me then a bystander would take the time to give me a fighting chance at staying on this earth, no matter the odds.

RE: Florida teens record themselves taunting, laughing at drowning man
There is something even sadder and more deceptive about this situation and video than meets the eye. This is only sickening to people who have ethics. People like these 5 routinely *perform* the violence or killing and taunt the victim.. in this case they "only" watch as an accident unfolds.

This is the perfect local msm news story. Lots of shock and gushes of I cant believe it ism while not reporting, nor explaining the larger problem of what a horrifying place a lot of American communities have become. Life is cheap and has no value in a fatherless, valueless community guided and created by the same media machine that makes the news itself. Indeed, these teens are just doing what their democrat overlords are doing - laughing at the stupidity of a whole community drowning and screaming for help.

Is the news in the local school system where this must be taking place on a daily basis? No - the stories that have a possible impact are ignored. The sensation of this fits the formula for a day which specifically calls on producers to slip in a shocker a day - but which doesn't dare actually bring attention to any substance.

Frankly, only Trump has had the courage recently to speak about the problems in a both compassionate, non-racist manner and sincerely want to work toward a solution. If you go back and listen to his inauguration speech over and over again, or specific campaign speeches you will find a lot of truth.

One look at that guy and I sure as hell wouldn't risk my life for him. I'd call the cops and that's it.

Also, here we go again with the "he looks like a bad guy, so maybe we shouldn't call the police."

Jordan

Some dudes on this forum look tough as fuck. Maybe not covered in tattoos to this degree but some dudes look like they can throwdown in a fight and steal your girl. Would you call the police to save them?

"He looks like he might be able to AMOG me and steal my wife. Better not call the police to save him from drowning."

RE: Florida teens record themselves taunting, laughing at drowning man
I get the risks involved in saving a drowning person. I've actually done it, got a standing ovation at a hotel restaurant in Hawaii for it, and I think a huge part of what has propelled mankind along is the audacity of those few who immediately jump to action to help someone else even while putting themselves at danger. I don't mind humble bragging about it because I think it's a trait that should be fostered in all men and should definitely be promoted in the manosphere.

Knowing how to swim very well helps a lot of course. I grew up in the mountains swimming in the river every single day in the summers, so I have the luxury of that, but these kids most likely did not.

It also helps to know a few valuable basics that would be common sense to a strong swimmer but not someone who isn't. Like stopping before you get to the victim and getting them to calm down a tad before closing the gap. And grabbing onto them from behind instead of from the front when you do get your hands on them.

But all that said I still understand that risk might stop someone, especially if they're not a strong swimmer themselves, from joining the party. I would probably tuck that info down into my psyche about them, but I would try not to judge too hard because, after all, that's what a huge portion of the population is like, and that makes sense from an evolutionary perspective too.

Unfortunately, that's not all that happened here.

Not only did they not jump in to help or call for help, they laughed at and heckled a dying man.

Not only did they laugh and taunt him, but they didn't notify anyone afterward that a dead guy was floating in the pond, you know, just in case someone else actually did care to know...

Not only all that, but they went and posted the video on YouTube afterward....presumably since it's such an indicator of how fucking cool they are.

Disgusting every single way you look at it. Rational self preservation, while on its own not always honorable, is one thing. This an entire other.

Our society is getting very proficient at raising young men who act cowardly and all keep a cool, callous face together while doing it.

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes
frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Kipling

RE: Florida teens record themselves taunting, laughing at drowning man
Not watching the video but one thing to be careful of if you try to save a drowning person is, why are they drowning?

One guy where I grew up jumped in a lake to save his drowning dog and end up drowning himself.

The lake looks like it'd be easy enough to jump in and not have any issues, but there is some pretty thick plant life down there that the dog got tangled up in and that's why it was drowning, and the owner also apparently got caught up in the same plants and couldn't get back into the boat and drown.

Sometimes situations don't look nearly as dangerous as they are.

RE: Florida teens record themselves taunting, laughing at drowning man
If you grew up watching two girls one cup, snuff videos, beheadings, seeing pictures that only medical students used to see, hearing not just about horrific things, but having access to every horrific thing that happens around the world.

Living in the world of reaction videos that are dares to watching messed up shit. And we haven't even touched on the Jackass spawned world of skateboarding accidents, wingsuit guys slamming into bridges, base jumpers recording their own deaths on GoPros, I mean, watching the human body in intimate detail, slam its head, crack its back, twist and fracture itself over and over.

I mean, growing up in a world where that is normal.

Messed up as what these kids did is, it doesn't surprise me.

I will tell you one of the most disturbing things I have ever listened to, and I didn't even watch or listen to the actual Youtube videos, I listened to the reactions of a bunch of kids and teenagers to the Youtube videos posted on this podcast about killer Luka Magnotta.

http://swordandscale.com/sword-and-scale-episode-33/

What disturbed me about this was that I was listening to bunch of kids watching a serial killer kill someone live on Youtube.

And the reason it was disturbing was because you could tell, in the voices of the kids, that many of them had been dared to watch it and record it, which is a little more disturbing than daring them to eat a hot chili pepper.

Secondly though, was that you could hear the kids narrating what was happening, and at first it wasn't too bad, maybe it was fake, and then soon, there was real distress in their voices as the watched someone being tortured and killed.

And I thought, these kids are at home, safe in their rooms, and their parents are downstairs completely unaware that their children are being traumatized by their computer.

And the scariest thing was, not one of the kids turned the video off and said, I'm not watching this. Not one of them had the healthy response that members in this thread had at the idea of watching death and cruelty for the purposes of entertainment, outrage, or even just something to talk about.

I am sure a psychologist could make a career on the reasons why this simple, human impulse no longer exists for many young people today.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that watching things on electronic devices has become so automatic, so normal, that it overrides even a gut reaction to something vile. Kids have been trained not to listen to their gut reactions, just to watch, from distance, coldly removed.

The other scary thing about this podcast was that a lot of the kids actually voiced warnings for anyone who is squeamish, and then proceeded to watch the torture and death and get majorly freaked out themselves with no sense that they, themselves, were liable to be negatively affected by seeing gruesome reality on display.

Also, for a few of the kids in the podcast, it was like their inner sociopath was being turned on, and one girl even started out using that happy clappy Youtube voice, saying you might not want to watch this, but if you do, and then her voice changed into the same guttural voice demons use in movies and she said:

"Let the games begin."

So, if a little bit of internet culture bleeds out into real life, with these kids laughing and watching a drowning, I just can't really be surprised at it, or even consider them to be out on the fringes of society.

Many many people have watched mayhem and death, real mayhem and death, online, myself included, although I do limit what I watch, though some of the compilations of mountain bikers, skateboarders, people jumping off roofs aiming for a pool, etc. are pretty horrific in themselves.

It makes human beings seem less like people, and more like ragdolls or cartoon figures, seeing it over and over, watching their backs twist into inhuman positions, their heads bounce off concrete, and their bodies twist and cartwheel as they fall down a cliff.

Our happy little internet world, even when we are being careful about what we watch, is seriously desensitizing us to to violence and the fragility and value of the human body.

We are also being trained always to watch, and never look away, no matter what we are seeing.

So as bad as this is, I can't really drum up any outrage to single out these kids as something completely foreign and inhuman.

They just got a little careless, and let normal internet behavior bleed out into real life.

^^^

Could not agree more Debeguiled. And to quickly add on to your comment, we are not talking about the harmless "America's Funniest Home Videos" slip ups where Grandma accidentally (oops!) drops the cake. It seemed like many of these videos got incrementally more extreme, starting with the first JackAss series, and now you see what's out there on the internet and it's truly mind numbing.

In many of these videos people are being seriously hurt, or even dying. People still rationalize watching, often laughing, because said person was "stupid for trying", as if them enjoying watching a stupid man's pain doesn't in some way reduce them to the level of the "stupid" person in question.

It's the same thing with trash reality TV. These are real people, real families, leading utterly dysfunctional and vile lives. Yet women especially, will watch this stuff religiously, usually taking perverse pleasure out of a certain level of disgust they have for main stars. The only problem is that like any addiction, it needs more intense stimuli to have the same effect, and here we are. Ask any woman who watches reality to TV to justify it, and they immediately say that they know it's stupid, the people on the shows are stupid, and that they would of course NEVER act like that - yet it's interesting because it's so stupid.

But of course, they, the viewer, are not dysfunctional like that. They are completely untouched by such visual and emotional exposure to dysfunction. They can watch completely detached and still retain their full humanity AND not be normalized themselves to bad behavior like that.

Yeah, right.

They support the popularity and incentivize others to do such vile things for the attention they will get from it, yet they are blameless because they are exceptional to the other millions who watch it and also passively encourage it with their attention.

I am growing increasingly intolerant of this nonsense. By that I mean I am actually developing MORE sympathy for the negatively affected people in question, and respectfully avoiding watching/posting/sharing videos of pain/suffering, and disliking more those who either passively or actively engage such videos for either enjoyment or truly morbid curiosity.

I once pulled a drunk Swede out of a freezing canal. He might have jumped in suicidal thoughts. I just reacted but I didn't have to jump in. I don't know if I would have jumped in if required. Most of these things are instinctual.

I've watched the video. Really, everyone involved from the kids to tat face are lost causes.

The kids should have just called 911 which would have avoided the whole media circus. No way the police wouldn't have even made it in time. 911 responders take at least 4-5 minutes.

The 911 operator might have said to use a branch or throw something that could be used as a life preserver, so we can't say that calling 911 would be pointless.

But as pointed out, these kids are not in the habit of saving people, if anything, they are in the habit of doing the beatings and ganging up or doing sucker punches on other kids or whatnot.

edit
and someone mentioned pet videos and luring them into danger, those videos can be awesome!(so long as the pet doesn't get killed or hurt)

Watch the video. This is a retaining pond. There wasn't anything substantial nearby to throw to him. This being a big kid at 6'5 he'd need a log to keep his head above water.

By the time they found a log he would have been done for.

For all the hate for the "stupid teens" do we realize what is making them that way?

What kind of VALUES their parents, families, teachers & society are embedding in them?

The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.
