Golgo 13 - Things Learnt from an Anime Classic
Wasn't expecting to binge-watch a cult-classic anime series, but the revelations were so numerous that I had to share. My first exposure to "Golgo 13" was via the NES game back in the 80's. Little did I know it was an adult-themed anime comic book from the 70's, akin to 007 but darker. There are so many lessons in there, and the main character (Duke Togo) is an inspiration. Here's my takeaways"

Talk less
Shoot to kill
Get the money
Follow through
Lay it on the hoes
Dispense with banter
Never show desperation
Leave chumps on the curb
Move quickly and watch the clock
Never show a single fucking emotion
Be 1000% precise or stay the fuck home
Use the worlds best gear to get the job done

My memories are still haunted by that fucking maze in the NES game. Great nostalgia post.

Indeed. It was a brutally difficult game. Gaming taught me about success, failure, deep problem-solving, and took my hand-eye coordination well past my non-gaming peers. Genesis was my glory days, but by the time the playstation was mainstream, I had moved on to music, girls and drugs!

I remember that final maze under the Fangbacks building to this day. Ridiculous hard. And then after finally solving it you still were only 75% through the game. Me as a pre-teen was pissed. Especially because the jungle and Antarctic base enemies afterwards were hard. Figuring out the final boss was ridiculous too. I'd finally make it all the way there and get my ass handed to me because I didn't know what to do and run out of continues. And back to the start and re-do the shitty maze and everything. And the sequel sucked.

I moved on from most video gaming in my teens, but I think my love of convoluted plots and spy fiction was born from playing the first G-13 game as a child.

The mid-2000s anime had a really nice opening theme. I've probably listened to it a hundred times.

The second one is really good too.
