Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
Don't see too many Paris threads on here. Any reason why?

Thinking about going. Anyone been lately? Thoughts on going as a non-french speaking tourist?

RE: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
I'd be skeptical of spending any significant amount of time in the city. Champs Elysee is still worth swinging by, as is stopping by a nice cafe somewhere. Versaille is interesting if you don't mind dozens (literally) of selfie sticks held by Chinese tourists swinging around everywhere.

Other than that I'm not horribly impressed. You have to deal with an enormous street crime problem, constant hustling from North African Migrants ("Tree fah one Euro!!!"), large numbers of roving military age "refugees", rude service, and large numbers of tourists crowding up every historically interesting location.

Most of what's great about Paris (good food, some of the better historical locations) can all be visited without setting foot inside the snail with the notable exception of the Eiffel tower. Tip for that attraction: buy a pass but take the stairs up. It's much faster and more interesting to walk up to the first stop than take the elevator up.

RE: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
Along with Paris, I would be visiting the mainland Europe main cities (including London as an exception) within the next 5 years... Madrid, Berlin etc. if you really wanted to visit them. Paris, if it wasn't for the cultural enrichment, is a stunning city. I fondly remember as a teenager, on my first day of my first (and probably only) visit to Paris, seeing the top of Eiffel Tower as I walked through the small streets from my hotel in Madeleine, then finally walking onto Place de la Concorde and seeing the tower in full. A couple of days later I climbed it stairs only till the lift needed to get to the very top with my dad. Great times. It's a shame how much it has changed in the past 5/10 years but that's what they get.

RE: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
I spent three days in Paris in April.

It really is a beautiful city (at least the parts that haven't been enriched yet). Not just the typically tourist traps like the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Notre Dame, etc. but also the general appearance of the city from the public works projects started under Napoleon III. When I was there I amazed at the beauty of this city and at the same time disappointed that that I could not enjoy it as I should as I was constantly feeling uneasy by the hordes of Africans roaming around. The French police walking around with rifles drawn did not help with that uneasiness.

I probably wouldn't go back but nonetheless I think it's a city worth going to see once.

City itself is beautiful. Problem is that French let way too many Arabs and Africans in.

Samething when I went to South Africa. There were too many English-descent people in there, why the hell are they doing in Africa?

Hilarious.

Paris is alright for a quick trip to hit the major sites and cross it off the checklist. The food lives up to the rep and I didnt get any rude service. If I was to spend more time in France I would focus on a less touristy city though.

We don't have any Italians left in East Africa anymore, sorry. We left there 70 years ago.

Let's assume, Italy invaded Ethiopia again and half of the country is Italians, that doesn't make me it right just because my country invaded it. It's still wrong.

For history and culture: Definatly , yes

For Gaming: Hell no, it's horrendous. Tons of immigrants ( arabs, north-africans) that approach girls whole day, which makes the attitude from the girls even more fucked up.

Going there with your girlfriend or family member would be a good choice. Certainly not a good destination for a single guy.

RE: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
Paris is one of those cities worth a visit at least once for cultural and historical reasons. The architecture is beautiful and native Parisians have a great sense of style. However, as others have said there are huge numbers of Africans just loitering around in the streets (when I went to the Gare Du Nord early on one morning it looked rather like a refugee camp, with what looked like hundreds of homeless/jobless immigrants there), it's quite dirty by first-world standards, the people are rude (the stereotype seems to be apt, although I don't really blame them that much given the circumstances), pickpocketing is rife, and the touristy parts are bustling with loud, annoying foreigners (particularly Chinese and Americans) looking for selfie opportunities without any genuine interest in what they are degrading through their obnoxious presence.

Having travelled mainly in Western Europe so far, Paris is the only place where I've ever been mugged - by four Middle Eastern immigrants, one of whom pepper sprayed me in the face. Fortunately they weren't particularly effective thieves or in a violent mood since I wasn't otherwise hurt, nor (miraculously) did they manage to steal anything.
Maybe if you get lucky and find a friendly Parisian who is willing to show you around the parts still untainted by hordes of tourists or delinquent immigrants then you could have a good time, but otherwise I'd recommend just a short trip to check out those sites most of interest to you, then leave without lingering to savour the experience.

In terms of game, there are some really hot women there, both native French and African. If you speak French fluently and have an excellent dress sense you might be able to do well. It's an expensive city though, so night game will cost you significantly.

Armed police and military do not really fit in the city of love. I have no big wish to return.

RE: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
No matter what people say Paris is still a great city, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Women are beautiful, flirty and not vulgar (hello UK?), people truly love and value culture, not just to post a photo to show off on social medias.

Socialists fucked up the country in the economic aspect but in terms of women I Think it had a positive effect in the sense that most people can live in decent conditions, so there aren't as many gold diggers as in London for instance, social status isn't as important and people are less focused on money, quality of life in general is way better.

Girls like to flirt and being approached IN THE RIGHT WAY, all these ghettos troglodytes (most of them are indeed north and black african but there are also carribean and south european, most of these guys grew up together in some shithole suburbs, left school at 14, are jobless, they come to Paris just to annoy people) they aren't a competition at all, as I once said in the Paris thread, believe it or not but these guys make things easier for you as it's easier to stand out, if you have some sense of style, have a good vibe and like flirting you should do well, girls are open to all races, As long as the man has his shit together.

The african and carribean women in Paris are imo the most beautiful of Europe, I had a long relation with a girl from Martinique, she was the sweetest creature on earth.

I usually avoid the chicks from Maghreb, some of them are pretty and have a very good education but they are very vicious, loads of shittests to screen you, they look for a man to marry, are often very narrow minded and good luck with their brothers.

Parisian aren't the friendliest people but are usually courteous, when you get in a shop you won't get the "Hi sir, how are you today?" With a fake smile, they might actually barely say good morning, but I personnally prefer this as it's a genuine attitude.
There are plenty of good and affordable restaurants, go on trip advisor and READ THE REVIEWS FROM FRENCH PEOPLE, use google translate or any tool you want but these reviews are usually the most accurate and usually correspond to reality as french are picky with food and are also a bit stingy so when many of them tell you a restaurant is good it is usually true.
I have read so many over enthusiastic and praising reviews from britts/ american/australian regarding over priced restaurants which actually serve shithorse...I now don't trust them.

Not speaking french will be a problem for gaming as many girls will be a bit embarassed to speak english, if you game in english try to make the girl feel comfortable if she answers back in english.

The native parisian women adore their city and wouldnt leave it at any cost, they might go for a professional experience in London or NY or to Spain for a student exchange but they always come back to Paris.
I am talking about the ones who have good jobs, Are educated, have a good sense of fashion and have this french charm that many men like.

I am usually not into that kind of girls, unless they have a dark skin ?.

Regarding safety, just try not to spend too much time at the places like Eiffel tower and Arc de Triomphe, as a tourist you'll have to go there anyway but just be careful, no need to be paranoiac.

Beware of pickpockets in the tube, especially when you see groups of gypsy young girls or arab illegal migrants.

Taxis are expensive and rude, prefer uber whenever you can.

Overall I think Paris is one of the best places for a romantic long weekend, you can find very nice and romantic boutique hotels for around 100€ in the high season.

I am often in Paris, if some of you wanna have a drink or have questions just ask, I am now in London but on average I am 3-4 days a month in Paris.

Great write up as I was in Paris last month.

In terms of gaming if your French is not good stick to the tourists as the city is flooded with them in the Summer. Overall the I thought the food overrated as per the costs and that was going to some more local places.

Anyone hit up Orleans or Amiens? They seem to be the nearest towns, and might have more of a true French feel.

RE: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?
I visited Paris last summer with my family at the end of August (blistering heat during that last week of August). You can feel a certain tension in the air that is quite palpable. Walking down Champs-Elysses was very rough seeing many gypsies and homeless down the whole street, while also looking at some nice shops (Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Nike, Adidas, etc.) Soldiers were at the Louvre; I was staying at a hotel in Les Batignolles in the 17th arrondissement. When we took the train to Paris-Saint Lazare from Pont Cardinet near our hotel there were also soldiers patrolling the station/mall.

As long as you stay away from the area in Sacre-Coeur in the 18th arrondissement and St. Dennis a little further north, then you should be fine. Also scary story, but I was on one of those double-decker tourist buses driving by Gare du Nord and there was a bomb-scare where people were running out of the train station screaming. Thankfully it was a false alarm but in the event that it was real we would've be fucked. The bus couldn't move since the people were running all over the place, making us sitting ducks. Just be careful and research carefully which neighbourhood you are staying in, also the Eiffel Tower can be pretty rough at night but they have a lot of security there. There are a lot of Africans selling fake goods and trinkets trying to grab your attention, but if that doesn't bother you all too much you're good.

Tl;dr visit while you still can, the city is still very nice just be careful and be smart like you would anywhere else.

A scam one of the Arabs tried to run on me was pretending to give me some type of wedding ring for free. I told him no four times but he insisted (was still naive at the time) so I took it and walked off. I saw a girl and did a fake marriage proposal and gave it to her.

Then as I walked off the kebab reapproached me demanding the ring back. Told him I didn't have it so he got angry and up in my face. Told him to fuck off and I walked away. That was the end of it.

Just don't engage Arabs or Africans in any way.

St. Denis is a bit sketchy but the Sacre Coeur neighborhood is fine. It attracts some seedy characters because its near a red light district but its filled with tourists, plenty of regular french people live in Montmartre, and the area near the Pigalle metro is full of bars. The area is pretty crowded on the weekends too.

If your actually afraid of the 18th or engaging with arabs and africans. You probably should avoid all together coming to the US and definitely stay the fuck away from Latin America.

I rank Paris on par with cities like New Delhi or Dhaka Bangladesh in terms of appeal. I have been there many times in the past, I don't like the city. The weather is bad, people are snobby and the city is dirty. WNV

I would rather go to the south and spend some good time.

Most of the homeless people in paris are white or arab. African migrants are usually in assisted housing in Paris.

Your chances of getting mugged in Latin america is about 100 times higher then near the Sacre Coeur. Clearly youve never been to the sacre Coeur anytime recently. Other then Louvre and the Eiffel tower its probably the most touristy place in the whole city.

When else do you want to visit it?

After the World War with Islam or right before when it is 100 times worse than today?

Go now. It's still a beautiful city - in certain areas it is even mostly White French.
