This is probably the one thing about me that is holding me back from having my own life. I don't know how to make money. I'm horrible with my ideas, and have never had a successful venture in any area that I've tried. But I'm in a bad situation, and I need to make cash fast. I don't know how to hustle and I've watched so many videos of guys talking and teaching about selling but I just can't make a connection to my own life, and I have to if I'm ever going to break free of these chains.

I'm stuck in a small town in southern US, a real turd patch. Have to drive almost two hours to get to the nearest big city. It would be easy to leave, but I'm on a military contract and can't go anywhere until I get out of it. That's in the works. On top of that I have a declining health, bad injuries, constantly depressed, and an overbearing wife incapable of independent action. On top of all that I barely have 10k to my name and am losing it fast thanks to my irresponsible other half.

I just got declined from a bank to raise my credit line because of the amount of money I owe on another credit card, was attempting to do a balance transfer to avoid paying interest on the first cc. That didn't go over well. I've even tried selling my shit on craigslist to no avail. Nothing is working for me in the money department.

Half of my income per month goes to bills immediately, the other half is mixed between food, gas, emergency money, with very little to save.

What does a guy do in a situation like this? Go AWOL? Sell drugs? Rob a bank? Any one of my ideas could land me in jail or worse.. Desperation is real, and normally things that I know are stupid are starting to sound appealing to me because I can't live like this. If I was in a bigger city it would be easier but out in the country man there is fucking nothing here. Any tips, advice, lol? I tried learning to do web design but I just can't make a successful product to sell to someone, to anyone! Can't even legally get another job because military would know about it. It's hard for me to settle down and even think and plan thoroughly anymore.

If your wife is spending all of your money with no hope of change, you need a divorce. Get out of the military, work as many hours as possible, cut your expenses to the bone, and save. Conceptually easy, although difficult to execute. Best of luck.

Get a job with a temp agency. It's possible in some cases to make top dollar, but even if you don't have high dollar skills, you can at least start working. Most temp agencies pay weekly, so you'll get your first paycheck sooner than with a job that pays bi-weekly. Just convince whoever you talk to that you are dependable and will get the job done, and you should have a some kind of work almost immediately.

Temp agencies are a much faster option for starting work. Most companies are extremely skittish about hiring full time employees, and have a long, arduous interview process. However, they don't worry with temp agencies, so you can often start working the day after you walk in the temp agency office.

Once you get some time in with a company as a temp, they often will hire you full time, or if not, you can leverage the job experience and get a better job that leads to full time status.

This forum mostly advises that men develop a side hustle, or start their own business as a fulltime job. This is certainly a good idea. However, there's definitely a place for getting a good paying wage or salary job, living on less than you make, and stacking some cash.

Getting out of the military is not as easy as it sounds, and all options other than administrative separations, which renders no money from medical retirement or VA, take up to a year or more.

Also the mindset within the military is very childish to where the lifers that are still in will purposefully fuck with whoever is leaving their precious little club, making life extra difficult. It's the only "legal dictatorship in the free world" according to other vets I know.

The other thing is if I go a certain distance from this little shit town I'm in and get caught doing something, even working, or just being away, I will be guilty of AWOL or desertion or some other shit. I'm already being outprocessed but they are taking so fucking long to do it to me that its inconveniencing everything in my life.

Also getting a divorce is not my intention, but if I were to do something like that now it would only prolong my stay with the military because they would further intervene in my life and be all up in my business.

Will check out temp agencies, but there really isn't shit around these parts unless its military / government related and that is no way to make money.

It sounds ridiculous but like you've noticed there's not a lot of employment opportunities that are going to get you decent cash. I should be able to turn $100 into $10,000 by mid-September in 3 weeks of fb games.

American football. I don't know shit about soccer. There are so many college games every Saturday even picking a few heavy favorites you can make 50% profit every week with little risk. Maybe I will make a thread on it.

For example, this weekend Mayweather -500 and Stanford -1200...both are virtually certain to win, the combined parlay will pay out 35% profit on whatever you bet.

Get job in nearby city (even if it's against rules, sounds like you need it for peace of mind and a fresh start). Get someplace cheap with roommates. It will expand your connections and groundedness in new city. That gets you away from the wife. Find some way of making separate accounts from her so she can't take all your money (considering how hurting you are right now, she's going loot it shortly anyway when she walks...in true military wife fashion).

Part II

Don't get caught! Figure out how guys get tripped up on AWOL in these situations and avoid them. Limit your social media. Make sure you make all your military/medical appointments to not raise suspicion. Some of the medicals may even help. Hopefully you've got a whole year head start in a new city, new job and new friends.

Part III - Keep working on yourself. Do whatever it takes to get your head on straight. I've read a lot of your posts, you're going through multiple really tough things, but you've got to be tougher.

Jeezus, sounds like a depressing situation. If you're tech savvy enough to get online and post on this forum, you're able to set up an account at fiverr or one of those other freelance job sites online. Take whatever work you can, writing shitty copy for $5 and upwards a job if you have to (at least you're a native English speaker) and try and build up any sort of stash and experience. Probably also a good idea to limit or completely restrict your wife's spending if you can. Not going to get out of that hole if she just keeps digging you deeper.

How about detailing vehicles on the weekends or your off days? All you need is a bucket, water, soap, wax, a vacuum, and something to make the inside shine. You live in the South, so surely there are some big, dirty-ass trucks out there.

You might not make a lot of money but it's something you can do anytime. Only accept cash of course.

Firstly set a tight budget and ensure your wife sticks to it. If she doesn't take all the money off her and give her an allowance to run the house.

You may have to bide your time until you get out of the military but you can use that time to do a part time job or getting ready and prepared to go for the job you want after.

Any side hustles MUST be low risk, low investment up front. Don't waste funds on "business ideas".

Its usually not what people earn that makes them comfortable and happy, its what they DO with what they earn. Budget and stop wasting it. Reduce costs and overheads.

@BeyondBorders no trolling here man, I'm legit, I am in a landslide of shit and am trying to sort out my mess but get pretty mentally lost some times.

The issue is that I can't make any changes while I'm still in - except for doing something low risk low investment. Contrary to what some people think, it's not the kind of military that just cuts and dries people, especially ones like me who will do better on the outside, and have done better (had a great life before military). They love to babysit people, and I've seen them take custody of peoples kids who were not mentally there (don't have kids yet), so in my case I have a vulnerable marriage that could easily be hijacked for some Godforsaken purpose by the "upper management" and I don't want that. People don't seem to listen when I say this, but if I open my mouth I stand out like a sore thumb, it would be hard to believe that someone like me is actually in the service but I am.

I put restrictions in my bank account, so I won't lose anymore in my savings. However, I will still be making this same shitty rate per month until I get another job after I leave, so I have to find some way to get a little extra cash in the meantime. (next 6-12 months). I've been making plans for afterwards.

@Captain Gh, I still love my wife, and we are working things out, but I will not beta boy and after I get out of the death cult if things do not improve then I will re-evaluate this whole relationship.

I don't think you need another job and make more money, if you do you and your wife would probably just increase spending and be in the same situation.
What you do seem to need is cut down spending and deal with your wife's spending. While we're at it, does she even work?

It sounds like you need:
- marital counselling: Your wife needs to become part of the team to fix your finances. She clearly is failing to love and support you in your time of crisis. This requires counselling.

- debt counselling: You have clearly run up too many bills. The first step out of a financial black hole is to cut down on debt, not to apply for more credit, as you have attempted.

It doesn't sound like money is your problem right now. Your problem is your spendthrift wife and that your lifestyle is unaffordable. Fix your marriage and your consumerist tendencies first, then worry about your 'lack' of money. You might find your depression will even clear up once those issues are addressed, and then you will be in a better state to make more money on side projects.

Can you push for a military deployment? That way you might quality for the military's family separation pay, and, if to a designated combat zone, tax free pay. Even a change of station might allow you to save money if you go to a place with a higher COLA but keep your expenses in-check.

Get out of military. Ditch the wife.

Nothing else matters. If you have already set up self-limiting beliefs because of these two factors, then don't bother asking for advice.

It will take time to extract yourself from both situations, and that's ok. Things take time. You'll need to make the best of your situation. But you need to establish a longterm goal and strategy, and that is get out of the military, and ditch the wife.

Once you've done both of these things, we have an entire Lifestyle forum and there are tons of books on how to make money. In my world, it's easy to make money. I see the biggest fucking retard high school dropouts making bank bussing tables and running food in restaurants.

If you speak english and can type, making 45k-60k a year is easy. In places like Vegas, that's a good quality of life as long as you don't have some chick touching a penny of it.

@Steelex no man I'm not a troll I just feel lost sometimes and its hard for me to find advice because I live in the damn middle of nowhere with only military people around (so no good advice there).

@Veloce yes 110% to the former. On the latter, I'm prepared to make moves if the situation destabilizes any further, but for now, I will not do anything like that until I am as far away from the military as possible and can judge that situation then. I can start over again, I've done it before. So I'm not too worried about that, its just I have to bide my time while I am stuck inside a second set of legal confines that hate straight white men like me (aka the UCMJ) before I start taking red pills in front of everyone. I'm trying to get out with as little ass-pain as possible while making some extra coin on the side, you know what I"m saying?
