Thanks for the info, it's pretty much a 50:50 bet, despite the republican polling 4 points ahead.

Very commonly this is the case. They bus people all around, very well structured. Shit, Harry Reid with an eyepatch, a pussy voice, a psychopathic reasoning style, and a parrot on his shoulder won re-election there ...

Just reading another clueless Democratic prediction of victory.

They didn't even MENTION the black male voters.

Trump is going to use black male voters to stab them in the guts. It's going to be sweet.

Very optimistic here regarding Republican turnout across the country, especially in early voting. Way up, historic levels breaking midterms records for the entire midterms and we're still in EARLY VOTING.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
Democrats' Hollywood besties came out with a new midterm elections ad, "Because it matters". tard The Democrats still have no creativity, no originality, and still no platform to speak of to the American people. No wonder they are still dependent on Hollywood for elections-related ads.

^^^ Jodie Foster, Cher Lead Actresses in Ad Urging Women to Vote for Gun Reform, Climate Change, and Equal Pay by Ben Kew
Quote:A group of female Hollywood actresses released a new Michael Bloomberg financed campaign ad this week urging women to vote in the upcoming midterm elections in favor of several left-wing policies.

The, titled “Because It Matters,” is directed by Oscar-winning director Jodie Foster and stars actresses and singers such as Julianne Moore, Tea Leoni, Cher, Sophia Bush, Ellen Pompeo, Constance Wu, and Lily Tomlin.

Transgender film star Laverne Cox, who identifies as a woman, is also featured in the video.

The video begins with actress Leoni asking: “If somebody asked you: what do you care about? What would you say?”

Participants then go on to list a number of matters they believe are important, such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, healthcare, women’s rights, and allowing illegal immigration.

“Get out and vote,” Foster says in a voice over. “It matters.”

“Women across the country have concerns and strong points of view and they can make a difference by going to the polls on November 6th,” Foster said about her involvement in the project. “We hope that this campaign, featuring familiar faces in the entertainment industry, will inspire others to share their views and more importantly take action on Election Day. It really matters.”

“Women across the country have concerns and strong points of view and they can make a difference by going to the polls on November 6th,” she continued. “We hope that this campaign, featuring familiar faces in the entertainment industry, will inspire others to share their views and more importantly take action on Election Day. It really matters.”

Although none of the participants explicitly urge people to vote Democrat, all of them are from left-leaning or progressive backgrounds. In a press release, Michael Bloomberg, who financed the ad, acknowledged that females were far more likely to vote Democrat than their male counterparts.

“The good news is that more women are running than ever before, and female voters overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates for the House and Senate,” Bloomberg said. “The polls suggest a gender gap in voting larger than any time since the 1950s. But this election will be decided by turnout and getting people to cast their ballots.”

In an interview with CNN on Monday, the billionaire, who recently re-registered as a Democrat, blamed Trump for the recent violent attacks in Pittsburgh and against high-level Democratic politicians. As such, the billionaire has pumped over $110 million into supporting Democratic campaigns across the country.

“When he goes around getting people to scream and hate, bad things happen and you saw the results here,” he said. [The President] should be unifying, and instead he is exciting people, inciting people.”

RE: 2018 midterm elections
I am really optimistic about this election, I am. I think we are under polling like Jair in Brazil and Donald in 2016.

But I do urge everyone to donate and volunteer if possible. I went to a Trump Ralley two weeks ago and met one gal that worked for the campaign. Ultra conservative girls have that sexy confidence that’s just hard to describe, a type of rebel confidence. I hope to become more involved and meet some.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
I was leaning towards the Republicans holding both houses. With that said, is anyone on the ground in Arizona right now?

I have been watching a lot of news out of the state, and I can't help but notice a huge increase in coverage of Kyrsten Sinema. The coverage isn't necessarily in support. It's more just saying her name over and over again in various stories. Covering things her campaign does or things people are saying about her. There are laws in the US about equal coverage for candidates, but I don't know if that applies for "straight news reporting".

Many years ago, I undertook a brief study of congressional election campaigns. The course was in Arizona and one of the people I studied was Sinema. Just to get it out of the way - she is an absolute far left nutcase. I'm surprised she was granted a card in the Democrats. But, more to my point, in this course, my instructors consistently hammered on the importance of basic name recognition. Keep the candidates name out there, all the time, all day, every day. In many races, specifically tight ones, that is what wins.

It seems as thought the local stations in AZ (controlled by The Meredith Corporation, Tegna [formerly Gannett], and ASU Cronkite - all left-wing) are swinging for Sinema in a big way. But, maybe I'm seeing things in the trees man, so I'm wondering if anyone else on the forum has noticed this.

Currently out of office.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
For people from other countries:

USA has 3 branches of federal government that act as checks and balance: executive(president elected once every 4 years max of 2 terms), judicial (Supreme Court seats(9 judges) appointed by president and it’s for life), and congress(house of representatives and us senate. 435 representatives based on population and senate is just 2 per state (100 total. Representatives are elected once every 2 years. Senators once every six). No term limits in either the house or senate(McCain kept getting re-elected for example and was a senator for several decades).

Presidents can propose laws, Congress confirms them, the courts interpret the laws. That’s the nutshell of it

Do you mean the "fairness doctrine"? That hasn't been FCC policy since the 80s.

At the national (or federal) level, the elections are for the bicameral legislature, the Congress. The lower house (the House of Representatives) has 435 seats representing districts of equal populations (according to the most recent census in 2010), all of which are up for election every two years. The upper house (the Senate) has 100 seats (two for each state), a third of which are up for election every two years. (Senators' terms are six years long, but their elections are staggered, so they can't all be replaced at once). These elections are called midterm elections because they take place in the middle of the president's four-year term.

There are also various elections at the state and local level that take place at the same time as these federal elections for the sake of convenience. For example, 36 states are having gubernatorial elections.

At the moment, the Republican Party has a slim majority in the Senate and a more comfortable majority in the House. Since more Democrat incumbents than Republicans are up for reelection in the Senate, including in states where Trump did well in 2016, they face more difficulty in picking up Senate seats. Indeed, they're expected to lose Senate seats. People are unsure about which party will end up with a majority in the House.

The House is where bills for raising revenue originate (or, rather, where they're supposed to originate). The Senate ratifies treaties with a two-thirds super majority—though the recently negotiated USMCA replacement for NAFTA is categorized differently, and will have to be passed by majorities in both houses. The Senate also confirms appointments to the presidential cabinet (close advisors), the federal judiciary (which includes the Supreme Court and other, lower courts), ambassadorships, and more as determined by law. A new law requires a majority vote in the House and in the Senate plus the agreement of the president, or two-thirds of each house to override a presidential veto.

I was thinking more of the equal-time rule. But, a quick bit of FCC search-fu tells me that it is more or less neutered and a useless provision in this specific case.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
I'm not even going to try to work on Monday. Everything is going to be fucked up. I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off. Tuesday will be fun, going to the local polling place (probably the Granpa down the street who always hosts the polls in his garage, and has hot cider). Voting NO on all the California initiatives, and voting 100% republican without even bothering to read the bios. I was never in my life this party loyal.

Tonight I'm saying a prayer: "DEAR LORD...please let me see Don Lemon on CNN cry like a fucking baby on Tuesday night. Let me hear the wails of grief from the fat pink-hatted feminists. Let me have the satisfaction of flashing them a big angry bird from my car window. thank you dear lord. Amen."
