I have been watching a lot of news out of the state, and I can't help but notice a huge increase in coverage of Kyrsten Sinema. The coverage isn't necessarily in support. It's more just saying her name over and over again in various stories. Covering things her campaign does or things people are saying about her. There are laws in the US about equal coverage for candidates, but I don't know if that applies for "straight news reporting".

Many years ago, I undertook a brief study of congressional election campaigns. The course was in Arizona and one of the people I studied was Sinema. Just to get it out of the way - she is an absolute far left nutcase. I'm surprised she was granted a card in the Democrats. But, more to my point, in this course, my instructors consistently hammered on the importance of basic name recognition. Keep the candidates name out there, all the time, all day, every day. In many races, specifically tight ones, that is what wins.

It seems as thought the local stations in AZ (controlled by The Meredith Corporation, Tegna [formerly Gannett], and ASU Cronkite - all left-wing) are swinging for Sinema in a big way. But, maybe I'm seeing things in the trees man, so I'm wondering if anyone else on the forum has noticed this.

From Larry Schweikart:

*AZ I think based on the EV numbers McSally has already won. Rs lead by 110,000 and ALL the metrics I see from the state GOP and the campaigns are really good. GOP women outvoting D women, significantly! AZ will have voted 80% of its total by election day, which is why I think it’s over for Enema. McSally should win by 3-5 points. I also think we’ll flip AZ1 (Wendy Rogers) though that’s a tigther race. As of yesterday, Rs had voted 51k in that district vs. 46k in 2016 at the same point. Ducey wins by almost 20. We lose McSally’s House seat, so it’s a wash coming out of AZ for the House-—but this was a pretty expected D gain, so that’s a win.”

“….and we will win, and you will win, and we will keep on winning, and eventually you will say… we can’t take all of this winning, …please Mr. Trump …and I will say, NO, we will win, and we will keep on winning”.

Thanks for the info, I just dropped some money on McSally to win. I'm a bit torn about betting on elections, even though so far it's worked out reasonably well for me, but I make sure I put my money where I put (or would put) my vote.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
The only reason the Dems are leading in the polls is because Republicans, and many independents who lean Republican refuse to answer pollsters (the silent majority). Just wait until Tuesday night's election. The silent majority will turn out and cause the dems to go in a meltdown again.

Kind of hard to go on a sex strike when no one wants to have sex with them in the first place.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
The Greek playwright Aristophanes wrote a comedic play about a fictional sex strike in 411BC.

Scene One Wrote:Absolutely! Look! All we have to do is we simply stay indoors, put our luscious make-up on, naked beneath our flimsy little blouses, our curlies thoroughly coiffured and plucked, and we just sit and wait for our man. Soldier-hubby comes in, sees us and immediately stands at attention!

Solid, stiff and horny!

He’s torn to shreds with lust. But we move back! We simply don’t go to bed with him. I can assure you, darlings, Peace will be signed before you can say, “come again?”

A few scenes later...

Scene Four Wrote:I just can’t keep these women off their husbands’ pricks! They’re constantly running off. One of them I caught scratching a hole on the wall that leads to Pan’s cave -you know, where Apollo did all his raping; another was trying to escape by hurling herself down some lever-and- pulley thing, and another – this one decided to climb up onto a bird yesterday, no doubt hoping to fly over to that womaniser’s house, Orsilochus, but I tore that one down by her hair. So far, they’ve used every possible excuse to go home.

You can read the rest of it here. It may be considered not-safe-for-work

RE: 2018 midterm elections
Larry Schweikart's final 2018 assessment:

“Bottom line: we should net 4-7 senate seats, but it’s possible if all dominoes fall we get as many as 8-9. Mississippi may be a runoff between two Rs.

I think we keep the House by 5-10 seats, in large part because NONE of the ‘professionals’ have figured out we will likely flip 3-6 seats. I think they are assuming a lot of safe Rs in red districts will be turned out.”

“….and we will win, and you will win, and we will keep on winning, and eventually you will say… we can’t take all of this winning, …please Mr. Trump …and I will say, NO, we will win, and we will keep on winning”.

RATS are oversampled by at least 5% in most/all polls. Add that to the fact that, yes, GOP-types tend to not answer and there’s the RAT “margin of victory”.

Until they don’t win, that is.

Bet the house, farm, cows, chickens and sheep that when the GOP maintains control “muh Russia/campaign interference” starts up again.

That’s all the RATS have - nonsensical conspiracy fantasies.

See, this is something I'm not sure about.

My instinct would be to say that this is true, but is it going to be true when Trump himself isn't on the ballot? We have to remember that Trump is a master persuading force of nature that's strong enough to overturn the normal laws of how these things tend to go. Is that going to be in place when he isn't himself running?

I think the Senate looks very good with Rs picking up 2-3 seats. The House is still anyone's guess. The Democrats aren't going to get their "blue wave" because they're too crazy, but unfortunately they don't need one. The margin for error is very small. A splash is all they need.

Beyond the House, two races I'm watching closely are the Georgia and Florida governor races. Aside from 2020 implications, if Abrams and Gillum win the Democrats are going to have two new stars that they can push forward, which is very bad just by itself.

If you thought Obama was bad in his courting and encouragement of Year Zero crazies, he'll be a pipsqueak compared to those two.

I'm reasonably confident that Kemp will win in Georgia but it's still far closer than it should be. Florida is one to be very, very nervous about, as usual. It's so damn close with Gillum might even having a slight edge.

I predict a red wave beyond the cautiously optimistic viewpoints and more like a rout. This is part of the mystic energy of the current cycle. Get your popcorn ready for the meltdowns.

RE: 2018 midterm elections
This election reminds me the midterm election of 1998. In that election, the Republicans were confident running on a platform of being "not Clinton". The party as a hold played it safe by proposing nothing (certainly not on immigration). The party was shocked when they ended up losing seats instead of the massive gain they expected.

Today I see the Dems (at least in my very blue state) running on "we are not Donald Trump". The best policy stuff I have seen have been some open borders advocacy and some lip service about preserving Obamacare. the Dems are running on similar campaign as the Republicans back in '98: saying they are "not the President".

I maybe wrong, but I don't see a route in the House on Tuesday.

I'm fully convinced this guy is fueled by pure contrarianism. Society is Christian? He's an occultist/Satanist. Nipples cold? Don't put on a t-shirt, just put on a leather jacket with them still exposed.

He is the kind of person who would start doing lectures on the truth of Marxism if fascism ever became dominant political thought, he defines himself as against the mainstream and it taints everything he does. He presents himself as smart enough to divine that he is ackchyually a genius.

With this in mind, it makes everything else he says a complete eye roll. Every contrarian opinion he holds is just a shtick to show the world how "clever" he is by refusing to believe the mainstream.

It's a shame people on this forum are fooled by it.
